We were truly humbled to see so many of you dive into the demo during Junes Steam Next Fest. Your enthusiasm and support means everything to us, and weve been listening closely to your feedback. Many of you enjoyed the new gameplay mechanics we introduced, but there was one point that needed a little attention the weapon sharpening mechanic. Thanks to your invaluable feedback, were making the following adjustments to the game at launch:
- Whetstones will now act more like weapon buffs; when used, they will increase the weapon's damage output for a limited time, similar to the poison mechanic in the original Tails of Iron.
- Weapons will no longer dull, resulting in bounce back and the inability to hit enemies. This has been entirely removed.
- Managing the health of the whetstone is no longer a requirement.
- Whetstones are now purchasable at the shop and can also be found in the world and as an enemy drop.

Your Feedback Matters!
The Steam Next Fest was a great opportunity for us to hear your honest thoughts and feedback on our upcoming action-RPG, especially considering the new gameplay mechanics weve added, largely based on community responses to the original game. On the whole, were delighted to see an overwhelmingly positive reaction, with just one element - the weapon sharpening mechanic - seeming to need a little tweaking based on popular consensus. Having taken on board all of your feedback, were pleased to confirm that the whetstone sharpening will receive the following adjustments ahead of the full games launch later this year:

Key Remapping
When creating a game, you try your hardest to get everything perfect, and really drill into every detail, whether thats the art, the animations, audio, music, SFX (squeak!) or one of the many other numerous components. But paws held high, it turns out we overlooked one important feature many of you hold dear. So, since release, and having read all of your comments (many of which blew us away with their kind words!), weve worked diligently to implement key remapping on keyboard and mouse to Tails of Iron. So no more excuses when Dennis the Bold repeatedly kicks your *flute whistles*!
Toggle for NPC SFX
We heard you, again, and in response, have added a toggle in the settings to turn off all NPC sound effects. Flip the switch and youll no longer hear all the beautiful sounds of your rat brethren. Not even their heartfelt sobs, in the knowledge theyve been forever silenced.
Expanded controller support
You should experience far fewer issues when connecting a PS5 controller now. Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox controllers were already supported from day one. That wraps this patch up for the day. Arriving 17th September, prepare to embark on a perilous quest across a deceptively charming, immersive, hand-drawn world. When the deadly Frog Clan invades, Redgi, heir to the Rat Throne, must assemble a band of fearless comrades and fight back to save his crumbling kingdom. This compelling conflict is narrated throughout by the iconic vocals of the legendary Doug Cockle (recognise him?).
The trailer also unveils the savage boss fights that lie in store, when taking on the Frog clans oversized generals. From frog zombies to gargantuan grubs - and everything in-between - the Kingdom is awash with danger. To overcome each perilous encounter, you’ll need to study your opponent’s attacks and react accordingly! Thankfully, there’s a range of deadly abilities at your disposal, including parry bashes and fatal executions, not to mention ranged attacks with your nifty bow and arrow.
Customise your Attack
Adapt Redgi’s combat style to the task at hand. Heavy armour may provide better protection but can you really afford to slow down your dodge-roll? And then there’s the question of weapon; axes pack a punch, while spears are quick and nimble. Perhaps you’d prefer the all-round performance of a trusty broadsword?
Overcome Savage Boss Fights
While danger lurks around every toadstool, you’ll need to keep your wits sharp and your blade sharper when it comes to the devastating boss fights. Cold-blooded in every sense of the word, these oversized amphibians each present their own unique combat challenge, and you’ll need more than a good set of armour to come out on top.
Brew Recipes, Craft Weapons, Forge Armour
Redgi’s keep is also home to his brothers, Rem-Rem, Bam-Bam and Dug. Rem can cook up a health-boosting feast with ingredients found throughout the world, while Bam can craft new weapons and armors from special blueprints you’ll uncover… if you look hard enough. And then there’s Dug, who’ll update you about new quests available throughout the Kingdom.
