Ahoy fellow crewmates! It is time! We have decided to open the steam test for our game Chest Mate and will be giving out access to testers starting today! In light of this decision, we have decided to give you a heads up on what Chest Mate is and what you will do in the game. First off, what is Chest Mate? In Chest Mate, you play the crewmate of a pirate ship. Your crew is investigating and digging for treasures on various islands and your job is to defend them from the horrors inhabiting those islands. To help you in your endeavor, you will be in control of a cannon. You will have to aim and fire said cannon on the incoming wave of enemies using your mouse and the spacebar/left-click button.

SHOOT

You will also be given resources to use to build walls to make it harder for the enemies to reach your crewmate. You wont be able to block the path entirely though.

BUILD WALLS

On the diverse islands, you will also find different features to help you accomplish your goal: The explosive barrels: As the name implies, they explode when you fire onto them, inflicting damage to all nearby enemies.

EXPLOSIONS

The brazier: Shooting through it will light your cannonball on fire which will do area damage on contact and light on fire enemies within the radius.

BURN

The Shot-splitter: As the name implies once more, it shatters your cannonball in eight when you shoot it. The shattered parts inflict less damage though. (Placeholder art for now)

SPLIT

Some maps take place during the night, be careful then cause enemies can only be hurt within the light.

NIGHT
