Hi everyone,
The Squatting Penguins team here.
After spending 4 years on making The Mims Beginning in our small team we'd like to present to you a launch trailer for the game's release on the 18th of May.

It is truly incredible how a indie game, as opposed to triple-A titles, can get recognition thanks to the kindness of people like you. There's been plenty of ups and downs and we have managed to finish two crowdfunding raises on wspieram.to and indiegogo. A simple 'thank you' won't ever convey the gratitude we feel towards you. You helped immensely us by playing the game, providing feedback or simply encouraging us. The "pre-release" update for the game is already available on Steam. This version is the final version; the only possible changes would concern the difficulty optimization and bug removal. (maybe adding some very small features also)
The games has much more features than we initially planned. This project was supposed to take 6 months, but ultimately took over 4 years to complete, no small feat for such a tiny team. We have always been honest and implemented every feature we promised. Unfortunately we were unable to include a save system which would allow to save the game in any place. We didn't promise such a feature, but based on your requests we tried to make it work. We spent 2 months on it but came up empty. The game was in such an advanced state that implementing this save system was virtually impossible. We do hope that all the improvements and balancing on the gameplay we made, as well as the inclusion of various difficulty levels will make the game much better and more fun to play. It goes without saying that the progress is saved after each mission.
There are so many changes and additions in the current update, so let's just point out the main ones:
- 5 additional levels (including 3 levels with bosses), a final level with two ways to end the game and two different endings.
- Difficulty levels. Doesn't matter if you're a hardcore gamer or just simply want to experience the story - now you'll find 4 difficulty levels for everyone to enjoy.
- Overall optimization: each aspect of the game has been overhauled to make the gameplay more fun. All the bugs have been removed. The levels can be finished much quicker if that is what you're going for.
- The sandbox/survival mode has been optimized, specifically the random event frequency.
- Group creation and the Mims AI has been overhauled.
- Hotkeys have been added.
- The icing on the cake: Steam achievements.
- soon there will be Italian language version for sure (and we hope spanish too)
