It came to my attention that Steam's automatic pricing tool sets the price of the game excessively high in Poland, so the price has been manually lowered by approximately 25%, down to 50 Polish zotys. Big apologies for the hassle!
- Added a smoothing function to the camera to ease movement at high frame rates - Reduced the pinball achievement from 1,000,000 to 100,000
Dying in a previously beaten level and going back to the world map will not set your health to zero anymore.
Fixes the floor in the exit room in e3m4 where the player could get stuck in the gaps.
Secrets in maps e2m4 and e2ma now display properly in the level stats.
I'm happy to announce today the long awaited full release of Extraneum! 24 maps of gory pixelated goodness, now finally available for your enjoyment! The game will remain at its early access price for two weeks, after which the price will be raised to 14.99 usd, so grab it while it's hot! Thank you so much for your support, past and present! It's been a long, wild ride for me, and quite an emotional rollercoaster, but I'm very proud of what I accomplished and I wouldn't trade the experience I gained these past years for anything in the world. As always, stay awesome, and thank you for everything! :) - David
We've got a major announcement for you folks today! Extraneum is FINALLY coming out in its final, content-complete v1.0 state, and release is planned for September 25th! You'll finally be able to play through all 3 episodes and put an end to The Doctor's mad plans! Wooo! In addition, we're taking part in the Boomstock event, which will showcase a bunch of exciting new and not-so-new boomer shooters! Head to https://www.twitch.tv/fulqrum_publishing to watch the stream, starting at 1pm EST today (September 16th). Please note that since the game is coming out next week, it won't be discounted during the Boomstock event. With that said, the base price will be increased a bit when the game comes out of early access, so you can still save by grabbing it early. Also, it will be slightly discounted for a week or two when it comes out on the 25th. As always, thanks a bunch for your support, and stay awesome! - David
Hello everyone! The early access build has been updated to the same version as the demo, which includes many bug fixes and new accessibility features. As always, let us know if you find any bug or glitch we may have missed. Thank you for your support! David
Hello everyone! It's been a while since the demo was last updated, so today I'm bringing you a brand new demo, now including not one, but four levels from episode 1! You can now play the first half of the first episode for free! In other news, the game is entering its last stage of development, plus testing and bug fixing, so we'll be able to announce a release date soon. In the mean time, I'm afraid we won't be able to update the early access version until version 1.0 is ready. Sorry for the inconvenience, but please be patient, it's going to be worth the wait! Thank you for your support, and as always, stay awesome! David

Hello everyone!
It's been a few months since the last update, so I wanted to let you all know what's been happening since.
Episode 2 is almost complete, and episode 3 is coming along, but yet again, I'm afraid we underestimated the time it would take to finish, test, and polish everything. As such, we'll have to once again push the release date, which should now be around Autumn 2024. Big apologies to everyone.
With that said, rest assured that we're still working away on the game, and episode 2 will be especially big, detailed, and excitingly fun. Trust us, it's worth the wait!
Again, thank you for your continued support, and stay awesome!
David
Hello everyone! First of all, I'd like to wish a happy holidays season to all of our fans! 2023 has been a rough and eventful year, but we made it through, and we should all be proud of what we accomplished. May 2024 be even more awesome! With that said, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep my promise to release episode 2 by the end of this year. Life got in the way (again), and I've had to deal with a few health issues lately, so things have slowed down a bit. So I can't say whether we'll release episode 2 soon, or if we'll just wait until the full game is ready, but things are still happening, just not as fast as I had anticipated. In the mean time, here's a reminder that the game will be on sale 25% off until January 4th! And if you want to support us further, please consider writing a review, it helps more than you might imagine :) As always, thank you for your support, and stay awesome! David
It's been a while since the game has been updated, but fret not! Behind the scene, we're getting ready to release the full version, which should happen, if everything goes well, in May 2024 !! We're building levels in a semi-random order, so updates will be scarce, but you can expect episode 2 to be finished and available fully by the end of the year. Also, a new video has been added to the store page, as seen during the Realms Deep 2023 event. As always, thank you all for your continued support, and stay awesome! - David

- New character physics, both for player and enemies
- Boss rooms are now locked when entering them, to prevent cheesing in a doorway
- Implemented a sector based lighting system

A new update has just been released (0.10.0)! This update brings a handful of bug fixes and a couple new features;

- Waterfalls (water, sludge, lava) have been redesigned
- Rain and waterfalls now have appropriate sound effects
- Slightly changed grenade physics to keep them in the air longer
- Controller vibrations have been added
A new update has just been released (0.9.0)! This update introduces the first map of episode 2, and a new enemy type; the Grenadier! In addition, it includes the following bug fixes and improvements;
- The priority of weapons when switching from an empty slot has been revised. The grenade launcher is not selected automatically anymore, preventing accidental explosions.
- The settings now save properly when starting a new game.
- Explosions caused by the player's own weapon will only damage the player by 50%.
- The automap now shows security doors in their respective color.
Hi all! It's been a while and I figured it was time for a small update on what's been going on with the development of Extraneum. Ever since the Realms Deep event on September 15th, I've been in a depressive slump and development has slowed to a crawl. I'll get better soon I'm sure, but I believe I owed it to you to be completely transparent about it. Also, I've been thinking about it, and if I want to be able to release v1.0 in a timely manner, I'll be forced to cut down on the number of maps I initially wanted to do, going from 24 to 16. As a solo dev, I have to do everything by myself, and level design is particularly time consuming. I thought of hiring a level designer, but I just can't afford it right now. And I'd rather give you quality content, than a bunch of subpar level that only serve to fill the gaps. This also means that the episodic structure will have to go, and instead of having 3 episodes of 8 levels, the game will have one single unnamed episode of 16 levels. This shouldn't have an impact on your save file, however. The next update, v0.9.0, will be released in November, and include what is technically the first level of episode 2, along with a handful of minor features and bug fixes. As always, thank you so much for your support, and stay awesome! :) - David
As announced previously, Extraneum will be 25% off for one week, starting... right now!! Don't forget to check out realmsdeep.game for the Realms Deep 2022 online event, which will showcase a plethora of retro first person shooters like Extraneum, from Friday to Sunday, September 16-18 2022! In addition, an update has just been released for Extraneum (v0.8.7). It includes the following changes; - Fixed UI sounds not playing - Made the Flayer Spawns sometimes move around when hit instead of making a bee line for the player - The automap saves its settings between levels - You can't buy stuff when your inventory is full anymore - Added new difficulty options in between the hard and easy difficulties - Made the secrets appear orange on the automap when you previously found them - Money drops are now a single item that is worth an arbitrary amount - The item icons on the store UI no longer block the mouse cursor Episode 2 is still being worked on, but life is getting in the way and so is my mental health, so I might have to keep it on hold for a little while in order to recharge myself. Rest assured that work will resume very soon however. As always, thank you for your support, and stay awesome! :) David
I'm happy to announce that Extraneum will be present at Realms Deep 2022, a digital event hosted by 3D Realms, featuring world premieres, special guests, and interviews from different retro and old-school first person shooters! The event will run from Friday, September 16, at 12:00 PM PT, to Sunday, September 18. More info can be obtained at realmsdeep.game steamhappy During the week surrounding the event (September 15 to 22), the game will be discounted at 25% off, so if you haven't grabbed it yet, it will be a great opportunity to do so! The game will also receive a small update, featuring the first level of episode 2, and a few improvements which will be listed when the update goes live. As always, thank you for your support! David EDIT 2022-09-09: Because I'm unhappy with the current layout of E2M1, I'm going to have to redo parts of it, so I don't know if I'll be able to release it in time for the 16th. With that said, rest assured that I'm doing my best to release it soon.
A new update has just been released (0.8.5). It fixes a physics related bug, where, after a while, enemies would stop attacking or receiving damage. The source of the bug has been found and should be corrected now. As always, if you find any more bugs, please make sure to let me know! And if you enjoyed the game, feel free to leave a review on the store page! Thank you for your support! - David
A small update has been released today, which mostly made a few minor adjustments and optimizations. There's also a bug this update tries to fix; it's been reported that in some very rare cases, the enemies will stop attacking or receiving damage, and will just walk around without doing anything else. If you encounter this bug, please send the files "Player.log" and "Player-prev.log", which you can find at "%AppData%\..\LocalLow\David Jalbert\Extraneum", at the following email address; davidjalbertgames@outlook.com . As always, thank you for your support, and make sure to leave a review if you enjoyed the game :) - David
A free demo is now available for Windows and Linux! It includes the full first level, with no additional alterations. Feel free to try it out and let me know what you think! As always, don't forget to leave a review if you enjoyed the game, and thank you very much for your support :) Update 2022-06-29: The demo now includes level e1m3 instead of e1m1. It has more content, and this is the level the original demo had, so it made more sense to have it instead. - David https://store.steampowered.com/app/1999140/Extraneum/
Starting today, the game will now be available both for Windows and Linux on Steam! If you already own the game and have Linux, feel free to try the latest build and let me know in the comments how it plays. As always, don't forget to leave a review if you enjoyed the game, and thank you very much for your support :) - David https://store.steampowered.com/app/1999140/Extraneum/
I noticed a few bugs since the game was released, so I took the time to address most of them.
- Using the gamepad now disables the mouse cursor, to avoid interactions with the UI
- Security doors were making the player "jump" when walking through them too fast
- Some sounds would not play correctly
- Enemies would sometimes not die correctly in very specific circumstances
- Various changes on the in-game text
I'm very happy to announce that Extraneum is finally available on Steam, and includes, at the time I'm writing this, the entirety of episode 1! Play through 8 levels in your quest to find the source of the infestation at the laboratories of Project Extraneum. Survival is not guaranteed! As for what comes next, I'll take a well needed break, and then work on episodes 2 and 3 will resume. As always, huge thank you to everyone who bought the game, reviewed it, left a comment, or interacted in any way! You're the best! :)

Game is not tagged as available on Linux on Steam.
Linux is not in the OS list.
The story
Thanks to your high resilience and your even higher scores on the Universal Weapon Handling Assessment, you were lucky enough to get hired as a security guard for top secret Project EXTRANEÜM (pronounced ex-strain-yum). You had no idea what this project was all about, but you certainly didn't sign up for a total overrun of the facilities by alien looking monstrosities.
Looks like you're doing overtime today. Grab your trusty knife and your standard issue SMG and send these abominations back to hell where they belong.
