Upcoming PISTOLA 1.3.0
I always talk about PISTOLA as a game we're ashamed of. We thrive to make games we'd like to play regardless of playtime and the niche it fills, so why weren't we treating this one as such? After a really honest, well made and insightful review, I cloned the PISTOLA repo and started doing some changes. The performance issue specifically, are a well-known one and multiple people have reported. I had no idea what was done there but I didn't expected it was that bad (my fault, though!) So, the first step was reworking the enemy code. If an image worths a thousand words, a video worths even more. Here's a before/after with the same amount of enemies spawned (note that as of now, the game gets slower even with games outside the viewport) [previewyoutube=NK6KenPbVqI;full][/previewyoutube]
Note that this is not released yet!
The goal is to make a update with new content, and I also need to further investigate if player powerups are another source of performance problems so I can handle it as well. I already have a nice backlog of possible features for this update, such as:
- Weekly leaderboard
- New characters with exclusive mechanics
- New powerups
- New languages
- A... companion?!

Siege 'n Sow
I'd like to also point out that Siege 'n Sow, our newest game in development, has a steam page so you can add it to your wishlist if you want, it helps us a lot! But notice that since this is our main priority, PISTOLA 1.3.0 may not be released quick. But it will come! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2773700/Siege_n_Sow/
Howdy! We're passing by just to tell you folks we're releasing PISTOLA for MacOS and Linux/SteamOS! This also includes an update (for Windows as well) that is meant to fix performance issues. For the macOS version, since it's Cuca's main OS, we're making sure our games works just fine for those using Apple's computers! We can't guarantee the same for Linux since none of us are a heavy linux user. We had some testers to guarantee everything is working, but we can't ensure the game will work for every distribution as we do for Windows and MacOS. We also opened our discord server! You can talk directly to us there and follow our game updates at: https://discord.gg/ZyjZdBYjge If you're supporting us on Patreon, let us know so you can have the appropriate roles. See ya! - Cuca
We just released a new quality of life update, fixing bugs, and improving the late game. One of the major changes is definitely the new enemy creation algorithm, that previously stopped on the latest enemy we drew (which is quite boring, to be honest), now the game will loop through the list of enemies infinitely, making'em stronger each time the algorithm loops.
- New enemy creation algorithm
- New random buffed enemies (1% of chance to spawn)
- Merchant countdown timer on the top-right of the screen
- Increased base coin drop chance (45% to 50%)
About
Thanks for the patience! We're extremely happy to release a new update for PISTOLA. First of all, the developer (cauehsf) deeply appreciates the love of all players, but we have to exalt three names that are on the top of the scoreboard:
- TURBOTOTA
- KLUSTERFAK
- DGID
- Bleeding (damage, duration and hit count)
- Merchant cooldown reduction
- Better rewards after killing enemies
- Chance of dropping a permanent coin after killing enemies
- LIGHTNING DAMAGE! (Thanks, Pilalo!)
Future of PISTOLA
We're grateful for everything we've achieved so far, and certainly Softwool will release a new title soon (). PISTOLA is pretty near to it's final stage, and we must warn you that the next updates will mainly be focused on bug fixes, and quality of life improvements.
