Leave everything behind and open a Tiny Bookshop by the sea in this ambient narrative management game.
Stock your wagon, set up shop in scenic locations, and navigate a post-capitalist future alongside Bookstonbury’s eclectic cast of characters.

- Stock your Tiny Bookshop with the right books to meet the locals’ reading habits and watch your customers trickle in.

Each of the picturesque locations in town has characters and stories attached, which you slowly unravel as you become a pillar of the community.

Hi folks! After going back and forth with the Steam team, we were able to optimise Tiny Bookshop for the Steam Deck\'s screen fully!
With this update, Tiny Bookshop is officially Steam Deck verified! This patch also introduces the ability to zoom in, while your shop is at a location, so even the smallest text in speech bubbles will be readable.
[/img]
This patch also sets the default back from Proton to Linux for the Steam Deck and Linux devices. This comes with two notes:
The Proton (Windows) and Linux native versions are identical, but you might see some faster loads in the Proton version, and faster runtime performance in the Linux version.
Note 1:
Load times can be a bit longer on Steam Deck / Linux. This is nothing new, but keep it in mind. Our theory is that thread priority is handled differently, leading to slightly slower load speeds.
Note 2:
If you haven\'t opened the game on your Steam Deck in a while, or you have been playing without an internet connection, your saves might be in the Proton emulated saves directory. Our game will load these automatically in Linux, and we\'ve spent hours testing this to make sure it works properly. If you encounter any issues, you can try manually setting the compatibility settings to Proton, and keep playing there.

Hi everyone, this is just a tiny update addressing a Unity security vulnerability.\nAccording to Unity, no exploits have been known with this vulnerability. You can read more on the matter here: https://unity.com/de/security/sept-2025-01\nBack to testing cloud save!\nHave a lovely day everyone \n
General Fixes:
\nHi everyone, were back after recovering from Gamescom, and the stress that has been the release of our first game, with our latest patch!\nThis one took a bit longer to figure out, because we made changes to the save system, and that requires a ton of testing and consideration, to make sure nothing breaks. Plus, it seems like the life weve been putting on hold before the release of TB finally caught up with us! Two of our team members got married last month, and we all had to spend some much-needed time to take care of our personal lives, after the crunch-free but still very all-consuming development that was Tiny Bookshop.\n\nWithout further ado, lets jump into what weve fixed and addressed with this update \n\n\nFixed some UI scaling issues and some edge case problems with dialog bubbles\nFixed some item and book tags.\nFixed some more typos.\n\nSave System Rework
\nImproved Save System to try to recover saves automatically and support multiple users. This is a preparation for enabling Steam Auto Cloud in the future.\nFrom now on, the correct directory of your save files is:\n\nWindows:\n%userprofile%\\AppData\\LocalLow\\neoludic games\\Tiny Bookshop\\YOUR_STEAM_ID\\Saves\\\n\nMac:\n~/Library/Application Support/neoludic games/Tiny Bookshop/YOUR_STEAM_ID/Saves/\n\nLinux:\n~/.config/unity3d/neoludic games/Tiny Bookshop/YOUR_STEAM_ID/Saves/\n\nThe save files will be loaded from old paths and will be automatically moved once you save. The game saves during any scene load during game play.\n\nIntroducing: Self Repairing Save Files!
\nThere is still the archive we introduced, and the Backup folder in your saves, just to make sure your files can never get fully lost! For this we introduced an automatic way, trying to recover the saves if something breaks. This should prevent some of you from having to deal with copying save files from one folder to another in case a save got corrupted.\n\nRegarding the Missing Save Files on Steam Deck:
\nWe sadly cant automatically port over the save files here, as this has to do with Steam deciding to default to Proton instead of Linux to run our game. Proton uses an emulated file system, so we cant reach the previously created files from within the game. We contacted Steam Support about this, but we arent able to change the default behaviour ourselves. \nOnce we have cloud sync enabled, well return the game to run natively on your deck as intended, but this requires careful consideration to make sure any save files created between the change Valve introduced, and the change back are synced using Steam Cloud.\n\nUntil then, we have two fixes for you:\n\nIf you want to continue on Linux this is the version we will support in the future (Recommended):\nSelect Properties->Compatibility and choose Steam Linux Runtime from the dropdown to run natively the Linux version on your device, as we intended.\n\nIf you want to stay on Proton and your save files are missing:\nEnter Desktop mode, head to ~/.config/unity3d/neoludic games/Tiny Bookshop/YOUR_STEAM_ID/Saves/ or if you have not played on the current patch, yet: ~/.config/unity3d/neoludic games/Tiny Bookshop/Steam/Saves/ and copy the files there to \"\"~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2133760/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/neoludic games/Tiny Bookshop/YOUR_STEAM_ID/Saves\"\"\n\n\nTech-y Deep Dive
\nFor those who are really into the tech side of things, we dug deep to figure out what happened the two times there were save shenanigans:\n\nWhat Happened, when the MAC saves got lost in the first week of release?
\nSo we noticed the following:\nWe are using the Unity game engine, and noticed that its persistentDataPath is not actually persistent. The behaviour of the persistentDataPath changes on Mac if there is a different folder under a specific path available, which was the case after we tested Auto-cloud in development mode.\nThat this would happen despite setting the development mode toggle was not clearly documented on the Steamworks backend, but this led to the mac version reading from a different folder after the folder showed up.\n\nWe have fixed this by directly specifying the correct path across all platforms, so this should never happen again!\n\nWhat happened, when the SteamDeck saves got lost a few weeks ago?
\nOn Steam Deck, the problem lies with the Steam Deck compatibility review. By default, they only test using Proton, even if a Linux version is available. We noticed they had done a compatibility review, but wanted to hold off on publishing it, as we were still working on adjusting the text scaling and were pretty busy with everything else around release. Somehow, this review was published regardless. As soon as the review was live, Steam changed the default compatibility setting for the Steam Deck from Linux Native (What we intended, tested and support) to Proton (Which works, but is not being tested by us). Proton simulates the windows file system, leading to the game looking for save files in a different path. Well work with Steam Support to undo this default in the future, but only after we enable Steam Cloud for a bit, to make sure the saves between Proton and Linux versions on the Steam Deck are synced correctly.Hello, everyone! Were back from an incredible week of Gamescom! After 3 years of attempts, we finally came back with an award, winning Gamescom\'s \"Games for Impact\" 2025! Thank you to everyone who has voted for us! [/img]After another week off to recover and purge any remaining \"con cough\", the team is now back in the office and excited to continue supporting Tiny Bookshop. \n\n
Tiny Bookshop has sold over 300,000 Copies!
It\'s still not been a month since the release of Tiny Bookshop, and we already sold over 300,000 copies across both Steam and Switch! At this rate, Bookstonbury is going to face over-tourism, and we\'ll have to call in more seagulls!\n\nIn all seriousness, we are absolutely blown away! Thank you so very much for the support!\n\n[/img]\n
Whats next for Tiny Bookshop?
Throughout this month, we will be going through our backlog of player reports, focusing on bug fixes, such as fixing issues with Steam Cloud saves, as well as improving the player experience of Tiny Bookshop. We have received lots of feedback and will be working to bring some much-needed quality-of-life updates, such as the ability to save your Bookshop loadouts ! While we\'re at it, we\'ll also be taking some time to think about new content we\'d like to create! So stay tuned for that and much more coming soon.\n\n
Tiny Bookshop Book Council
You might have already known, weve recently opened applications for a Book Council through our Discord server. We want the Book Council to help expand the current book selections available in Tiny Bookshop. Since our initial announcement, weve already received over 700 applications! While weve had many applications from people with expertise in books of the English language, wed love to encourage more applicants with backgrounds in Japanese, Chinese, Ukrainian, Turkish, or Russian language books. If this sounds like you (or someone you know), wed love for you to apply and help bring even more cultural diversity to Tiny Bookshop.\n\nAs always, thank you all for your support and passion. Youve helped make Tiny Bookshop what it is today, and were excited to keep building it together with you!\n\n\nYours ever gratefully,\nneoludic games

We\'ll continue to tinker away on them during the weekend
Like the six-legged critters, bugs can sneak in from anywhere. And before we can address them, we need to identify them. The faster we can figure out what caused a bug, the faster we can fix it!
Here are a couple tips on how you can help with that, after you encountered one.
1. Play the game until the bug appears,
2. Then press F2 (depending on your configuration, you might need to hold down the FN key on your keyboard when pressing F2).
3. This brings up our bug report tool. Here you can give the bug a good name, and describe what happened BEFORE the bug occurred and describe the bug itself.
4. If you\'re open to being contacted with follow-up questions, you can enter your mail, but you don\'t have to.
5. Press send!
If you can\'t open the game, or prefer reporting bugs otherwise, you can also email us with a bug report to developers\\[at]neoludic.games.
It\'s still important for you to describe what was happening and what is happening in as much detail as you can.
Thank you for your help!

Tiny Bookshop will finally release TOMORROW
and it all seems a little unreal, but in the best possible way! We sincerely hope you are as excited about this as we are.

See you all tomorrow!

We can barely believe it ourselves, but its true...
Tiny Bookshop releases one week from now, right here on Steam!
Our team here at neoludic games is so excited that all of our hard work has brought us here, and we cant wait to share it all with you in seven days!
A lot of you have asked us how long the full game will be, and thanks to our wonderful playtesters, we have an answer for you:
A main story playthrough will take about 25 to 30 hours. Unless you are veeery fast... Cant wait to see the speed runs!
To complete every achievement, the game may take even longer. And the best news is: If you still dont have enough of Tiny Bookshop after 30 hours, you can continue selling and recommending books until the end of time! Until next time, Bookseller!
Hello Booksellers! Weve been quietly tinkering behind the scenes, dusting shelves, sorting books, and listening closely to your feedback. With the refreshed Tiny Bookshop demo, this is what you can expect:
What's New in the Demo Refresh?
1. Book Recommendations
First up, lets talk about one of Tiny Bookshops most unique feature. Weve received so much feedback from the demo, and weve been hard at work making improvements. In this new demo refresh, weve revamped and made a bunch of adjustments to improve the recommendation system.
Clearer Book Requests We've massively reworked and reworded NPC requests. They are now easier to understand, more sensible, and their responses are slightly less harsh.
[/*]Favourite Book Hint If someone mentions their favourite book, you can now view its description right within the request, saving you a Google Search side quest.
[/*]No More "Meh" Customers no longer respond with apathy when given semi-fitting book suggestions (rude). Instead, theyll be pleasantly surprised when you recommend an unexpected book. Everyone should be willing to try something a little bit different!
[/*]Always An Answer! Weve also tweaked how customer requests are generated. Now, customers will ask for something that matches a book already in your current inventory. That means fewer sorry, I dont have anything moments and more satisfying decisions.
[/*]Polite Bookseller Don't lie to your customer! By popular demand, "Sorry, we're closed" is now changed to something more fitting!
[/*]Difficulty Indicator There's now a difficulty indicator for recommendation requests, making difficult requests a little more obvious and hopefully rewarding.
[/*]Dual Genre Tutorial We've added a tutorial explaining how books can belong to multiple genres. Think Dracula, is it a classic or fantasy? Its both!
[/*]Less Duplicated Books You are now much less likely to find the same book twice, when going through your shelf.
[/*]Recommendation Sale Boost After you nailed a recommendation, customers become Inspired, briefly boosting everyones chance to make a purchase. May your kindness spark bookish joy!
[/*]
2. Accessibility
Secondly, we know coziness feels different for different people, so weve introduced a host of new accessibility settings to make Tiny Bookshop more accessible to players with different gaming needs!
General:
Recommendation Timing You can now adjust how long customers will wait for book recommendations, giving you more breathing room to play at your own pace!
[/*]Auto-Accept Recommendations Dont want to click recommendation bubbles at all? No problem. Let the game auto-accept them for you!
[/*]
Mouse and Keyboard:
Pause on Tooltip We've added a setting to automatically pause the game when reading a tooltip. This is especially useful when inspecting timed effects and detailed info.
[/*]
We removed the need to click and hold or click and drag completely on mouse and keyboard.
Click and Place Decorating In customisation, instead of clicking and dragging. You can now simply click to pick up and click to place when decorating your wagon.
[/*]New Camera Control Setting "Cursor at Screen Edge", which can be used instead of the default "Click and Drag". This moves the camera as you hover near the screen borders.
[/*]
Controller:
Hold-to-Confirm Settings Sometimes throughout the game, we ask you to hold a button to confirm an important choice. Because this can be a problem for some players, you can now toggle a setting that removes that requirement entirely.
[/*]Customizable Movement To move the view, it is still necessary to move and hold one of the sticks in the desired direction. So stick sensitivity and movement speed can now be finely tuned in the settings to feels just right.
[/*]Optional Haptics While our haptics are subtle, you can now turn them off completely if you prefer to play without haptics, or may find haptics uncomfortable.
[/*]
Ease of Use Enhancements:
Smarter Graphics Defaults The game will now do its best to approximate a combination of settings that works well on your device on first launch.
[/*]Settings Tooltips All settings now contain detailed tooltips to help you understand exactly what it does.
[/*]

[/*]Bookshop Stat Page The new Stats page gives a detailed overview of your shops current setup and how its affecting your business. Great for aspiring expert booksellers who want to fine-tune their strategy.
[/*]Character Pages There are now pages dedicated to Special Friends you'll make, with space to document memories and quests.
[/*]
4. Visual Updates
Customer Variety There's now more variety in people's outfits. They can show up wearing hats, bags, umbrellas or raincoats, and so much more!

[/*]New Sound Effects We've added new sound effects to book recommendations and journal navigation.
[/*]
6. Customisation

[/*]
7. Newspaper

[/*]
We hope these changes will help give players a better gaming experience and give you a good taste of what's to come in the full release!

By playing five out of 10 games of your choice, and collecting their stamps, you can receive a cozy sticker sheet! And if you play 6 or more of them, there will be an additional sticker in store for you!
And last but not least, here is a sneak peek at the new merch we have prepared for you at our booth!

We have a limited amount of brand-new 3D-printed keychains and pins of our seven genres! Thus, they will be distributed via a tiny raffle.
But even if we run out of them, there will always be some trusty stickers for you to take home!
Alrighty, that's all for now. But we are so so excited to see you at Gamescom! <3
Thank you everyone so much for taking the time to report this issue, and thank you for your patience. In this small patch, we've addressed a game-breaking bug for players playing in simplified-Chinese.
Please let us know whenever you encounter any issues with the demo!
Pressing F2 and reporting bugs and glitches that way is a huge help for our tiny team to figure these things out quickly.

Demo version 1.12
Bugs:

Added an auto-equip if users unequipped the shelf and quit in the customization screen
- Fixes stuck in stocking screen tutorial bug
- Fixes stuck in recommendation screen tutorial bug
Fixed bug panel not showing up while between scenes
Fixed bug that allowed the boost arrows to stay visible after an effect stopped
Fixed typo in FR Tilde dialogue
Fixed typo in FR Gazette title
Fixed inflating birds when clicking too rapidly on them
Added an actual request behind Tilde's kinda rude context-less one
Polish:
Removed hyphenation from the dialogue text boxAdded 20 unique books for ES
Added thank you for playing message on day 4, to better communicate the end of the demo on the map
Adjusted spacing in the newspaper for bold texts
Enabled resizing when playing the game in windowed mode
Added version display to the escape-menu
Bug reports now automatically include log messages, improving the bug fixing workflow
Notes:
Some crashes on devices without a dedicated GPU or an older GPU might be due to the demo being slightly too demanding on the hardware. We'll be optimizing the final version of the game of course, but for now, consider lowering the resolution in full-screen mode, lowering the Anti-Aliasing Settings, turning off Ambient Occlusion, and turning off VSync can all help improve performance and stability.Loading screen bugs can have a variety of causes with the same symptom, so yours might be gone, or still present after these fixes. Thank you so much to everyone who reached out and tried to help. Please still do, if you continue to encounter this bug, F2 + contact info is the best way to figure this out.
Because this patch contains fixes that address save-file corruption, it will reset your saved game.
Thank you everyone for the kind words, we were absolutely blown away! We are incredibly thankful for having such a thoughtful and passionate community!
And thank you everyone for your thorough and diligent reports!
Dear loyal and devoted bookworms,
What you heard at Wholesome Direct is true! The time has come! Your pleas have been answered!

We are so excited to finally share some of the new gameplay with you all! If you'd like some more info on what that demo entails, here is all you need to know:
- How do I play the demo? Download it right here on Steam!
- When can I play it? Right now! Until the end of June.
- What languages will it be available in? English and German.
French and Spanish are added as well, but they have not been thoroughly tested, so please feel free to give us your feedback! - Is there gamepad support? Yes! And we are quite proud of it!
- How long is it? You can play for 3 days in-game, which equals to about 30 minutes in real time. And after the credits, you can still continue decorating your bookshop!
- What can I do in it? Firstly, you will be introduced to the game mechanics with our brand new tutorial. As always, you can explore locations, talk to our characters, browse the newspaper, customise your bookshop, and of course sell books.
For the first time, you can also learn more about locations in your journal, master challenges and quests, and recommend specific book titles to your customers! - Where can I go if I have questions? We have set up a brand new community Discord server for our marvellous fans right here ! Join your fellow book worms in discussing the game and share your feedback with us, the developers!
- How can I help improve the game? Since the game is still in development, this demo may contain some bugs, typos, mistranslations, or inconsistencies. If you notice any, it would be helpful if you could report them via our custom bug reporting tool, by pressing F2! We will provide a more detailed guide to bug reporting in a follow-up post today.
We'd also love to hear your ideas, suggestions, concerns, or praise ;) over on the Tiny Bookshop Discord.
Lots of love,
Your neoludic Team
Hi there! Seems like you've run into a problem with our demo! Here's how you can report it to us and help us improve the game for the future.
The best way to report a bug is when encountering it. Pressing F2 in-game to bring up our in-game bug-reporting tool.

This allows us to learn where the bug occurred, along with automatically taking a screenshot, and collecting info on which type of device this happened on. Youll still have to give our six-legged friend a good name and a detailed description of how you got there, to better help our team find it.
In case we have follow-up questions, it would be fantastic if you could share a way to contact you, but no pressure!
Lastly, you can tell us how urgent this bug is, so we can get to the really bad stuff first.

If this is somehow not an option for you, or youd like some help from us because you can't continue the demo, or youd like the communitys help in figuring something out, then you are welcome to share it on our brand new community Discord server (join here ). In this case, please include a screenshot/video/gif of what happened, a detailed description, some information on your current device, whether you played with mouse or with gamepad, and how we can replicate it.
Thank you for taking the time to help us out! It's the best way to ensure an amazing finished product. We wish you lots of fun with continuing the demo!
Cheers,
Your neoludic Team

Hello, our dear bookworms!
We are so sorry that it's already been such a long time since the last update, but! Do not fear, Tiny Bookshop is still here, and it's coming along incredibly well.
The most important first: We are thrilled to be invited to the Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration held here on Steam from May 30 (that's tomorrow!) to June 04. There will be an amazing line-up of lovely games, handpicked for a cozy night on the couch with your loved ones, with great discounts, demos, and livestreams! Additionally, it's a huge help for us small and upcoming developers whenever you check out and wishlist upcoming games like Tiny Bookshop. Have fun at the event!
Now, for other things that happened since *checks notes* NOVEMBER?! (what even is time)
We won!!! the Ubisoft Newcomer category of the German Developer Awards. With an acceptance speech on stage, and everything! It was all very exciting. Here's a picture of us looking dorky and happy (with the lovely Mai-Vy from Ubisoft).

As always, thank you from all of us at neoludic for being so excited about our little game, for leaving lovely comments, and for your wishlists! It's what makes it all worth it.
See you next week with some more news!
Hello everyone! First of all, thanks so much for stopping by our Steam page, or for following along on Tiny Bookshop's journey. We're so thankful that you are here with us, and have some great news we'd love to share with you.
This weekend, you can find some of the coziest games on Steam all in one place, at the Cozy Quest Steam event being held until Monday, November 20th! Not only can you check out and wishlist upcoming games like Tiny Bookshop, but you'll also get a chance for great discounts and exclusive demos of more than 100 awesome cozy games! Join us for a weekend of delightful gaming and livestreams!
In October, it was such a treat to have exhibited our game at the SXSW in Sydney for the first time! Everyone was so sweet, and we certainly hope to go back some day. Shockingly and delightfully, we made it to the Finalists of the GAME OF THE YEAR at the Games Festival Awards! What?! Thank you so much to the jury who deemed us worthy of such an accomplishment, and huge congratulations to DREDGE by Black Salt Games, the winner of the award!
For December, we are invited to a very fancy and fun gala, since we are among the three nominees for the Ubisoft Newcomer Award at the German Developer Awards (Deutscher Entwicklerpreis or DEP). What a great honor that we have a wonderful jury to thank for! Keep your fingers crossed for us until the show on December 7th, when the results will be announced.
Last, but certainly not least, we wanted to share one of the things we have been working on in the past months. Say hello to Harper, Bookstonbury's unofficial town historian, cryptozoologist, and general (adorable) nuisance.

She is eight years old and goes to elementary school, but that's certainly not stopping her from sticking her nose into your bookshop's business and sharing very helpful mermaid facts along the way.
That is it from us for now, but stay tuned for more news, events, and updates from our small and cozy team! Thanks again for being here, and see you soon!
Hi Bookworms,

On that note, we are incredibly excited to announce that our silly little Tiny Bookshop was nominated for Gamescom's MOST WHOLESOME game award.
Our Tiny Bookshop is nominated among stellar titles like Pikmin 4, Pioneers of Pagonia, Smushi Come Home and The Wandering Village.

Dear bookworms,
We are excited to finally show you all the changes and improvements we have made to Tiny Bookshop since last year
Starting with a fresh new Trailer, just for the occasion:
The first big change is the updated art-style:

Now Tiny Bookshop features vibrant pastels, luscious greenery and a fully dynamic sky. This rework also allowed us to add something many of you requested:
You can now pan around, explore locations, find little hidden treasures and listen in on background conversations.

We have also reworked customization, to allow you to place items anywhere, even inside the Bookshop!

And painting has been reworked to allow you to paint everything, in any combination you like!

While it will still be a little while until Tiny Bookshop will be ready for release, we have created a little demo, which you will be able to play at Gamescom this year! And we are working hard to make it available online shortly after that as well, so make sure to follow to receive a notification.

Thank you for being with us on this journey! Your support and lovely comments really mean the world to us!
Tiny Bookshop will still take a little while to release, thank you so much for your patience and support. You all really keep us going!!!
Hi Steam Community! We're trying out this new feature, so let's have a little Q&A!
We will start with an FAQ portion, and share some answers to the three most common questions weve received about Tiny Bookshop:
[olist]
We are working to release Tiny Bookshop right here on Steam for Windows, Linux, Mac, and Steamdeck, as well as on the App Store for Mac.
We cant promise any other platforms yet But we hear all of your calls for other platforms, and are working out ways we can make those possible eventually!
Not at all! Newer Apple devices (with M1 Chip and above) will be great, and lower end PCs and Windows laptops should also be able to run Tiny Bookshop easily.
No, sorry, that wouldnt really work for us.
But, in exchange for paying for the game, you get to support a small indie team, and are spared the bad monetization practices.
[/olist]
