Spring has arrived! We know this season's lovely weather is great for hanging out with your beloved one, but storming the dungeon doesn't make it easy!



We've decided to make your journey through the dungeon smoother, so you can focus on the princess or prince you're rescuing! Scattered across the dungeon there are 15 easter eggs, that contain experience and tokens to level up your knight easier.



Most of these eggs are in the Castle area, so they will be accessible for new players too! And remember, if you like it you can consider leaving a positive review on Steam, and adding your suggestions or feedback for the next updates!

Greetings fellow knights!

Our community has asked to keep the princess you've chosen to rescue once you defeat together the Evil Dragon, so...

We've heard you! Before, once you've beaten the game with a princess, you could only find her crown at her regular spot at the Entry Hall, as she has already been rescued. Now she's back with the crown over her head, so you can storm the dungeon together, AGAIN!

[h3]Bio: [/h3]

The Human Princess has all the things you may expect from a perfect princess, as such fine beauty, refined manners, an evil stepmother, or a dark omen upon birth.

The tale tells that the court wizard (because everyone knows theres a wizard in any respected court) foresaw that once the Human Princess reached adulthood a relentless Evil Dragon would appear, burning down the royal castle. Only to lock her in the highest among the highest towers. And of course, only True Love could save her from that fate.

Everyone also knows that a wizard cant be wrong. So the King and Queen only found a possible way to prevent such an omen... Helping her to find a charming prince before its too late Building themselves the highest tower, and locking there the princess. You cant imprison someone who is already imprisoned. Logical, isnt it?

In that way, the Human Princess grew up with all the comfort and luxury anyone would have ever dreamt of, but was forever locked on a tower. All she had to do was to find her true love, but as her lifestyle didnt make her too sociable, it was such a hard task.

In the end, and to everyones surprise, the Evil Dragon ended up appearing and burning down the castle as expected. Though the Dragon has taken her to his own castle, the Human Princess's life hasnt changed so much.

And there she is, still waiting to be rescued. If it was hard to rescue her due to her bad temper, now theres also a big red dragon in the way. Now any proper suitor must be ready for both challenges.



[h3]Favorite food:[/h3]

Which kind of princess wouldnt like sweets?

Imagine the most refined chefs of the land, cooking the finest meals you can conceive just for you. Even more, imagine the most exquisite tea accompanied by the sweetest sweets and cookies. Its good, and even better if you can have as much as you want, right?

Now imagine how may a bunch of kobolds cook. Aside from that food isnt enough for princess standards, those pants-less lizards dont know how to make candies or have tea. And that seems a reason more than enough to want to be rescued as soon as possible.


[h3]Date of Birth:[/h3]

October 16th, just 19 years before the Dragon showed up!

Being born under a cursed moon that only exists every few years doesnt seem a good idea, but one doesnt decide its own birthday.

That defined her life of confinement. But no one imagined that the Dragon came looking for lots of princesses, and the Human Princess was only one of them. So maybe, and only maybe, it was impossible to prevent the dragon's arrival. Well never know.



[h3]Likes:[/h3]

- To sing, and even dance, when shes doing her tasks. But only when no one is near. The only ones that have heard her are the little birdies that were in the tower, so she isnt sure if she actually sings well.
- Have we already mentioned sweets?
- Being a princess, of course. Yes, the life of confinement can be quite boring, but despite that, she loved the attention she received there and all the beautiful and shining things she had in her tower.
- And of course, she loves the idea of being rescued by a knight in shining armour. But not any knight, only the one that proves to be worthy of rescuing her, and of treating her as she really deserves. After all, shes still a wealthy and highly refined princess.

[h3]Dislikes:[/h3]

- Dragons, or anything similar, for obvious reasons.
- Humdrum, vulgar, and poorly mannered suitors. Or what are the same, suitors who do not live up to her expectations.
- Poisoned fruit, sewing with fluorescent spinning wheels, or crystal shoes. Why should a princess like those things? The crystal shoes still have a pass (they are like walking barefoot, but without soiling your feet!), but they rub her feet, and thats not nice!
- But above all, what she hates the most is waiting for that knight in shining armour. Its taking a lifetime of boredom.

Hey friendly folks!

Before anything else, thank you so much to all those knights who entered the dungeon at the Knight's Trial! It's been really heartwarming to receive so much support from the community, but even most importantly, we've received lots of feedback too!

So we've heard that feedback, and implemented as much as we could in the game!

MAJOR CHANGES
steamthis We've added difficulty levels! Easy mode will be perfect for those who just want to enjoy a casual experience in the dungeon, and know the princesses! Medium is thought for those that want a challenging experience but haven't played before, or that don't have experience with platformers or roguelites. And Hard mode is intended for experienced players that look for a true challenge, as the game was originally meant to be!

steamthis Right now the gameplay of the knights should feel much more swift, with faster transitions between animations and an increased responsivity from the player input!

steamthis Keybinding! If you didn't find the default set of controls comfortable, now you can make your own from the Options menu!

steamthis You can change between princesses at the Entry Hall. You didn't feel ready to rescue a certain princess? Don't worry, ask out another one to enter the dungeon!


MINOR CHANGES
- Now jumps interrupt basic attacks!
- Increased the length of some princesses' power
- Nerfed the Mimic Crab's damage
- Given a different colour for each princess crown in the HUD
- Given more space between princess and knight
- Fixed some issues when using the Kobold power during the tutorial
- Added options for motion blur and FPS settings
- Each boss specific mechanic changes according to the difficulty level!
- And many details more!


If you already played Tower Princess alpha or beta, and felt it needed any of these things, we're waiting for your feedback to keep improving the game! It's really great to be able to push Tower Princess even further thanks to the community!

Beating the dungeon and rescuing the princess (or prince) of your dreams might be a difficult feat, especially if it's your first time at the Dragon's Castle. But fear not, fellow knights, as we have some valuable tips to learn how to improve your skills and find some decent loot!

The Upgrade System
The upgrade system lets you improve your stats and unlock some skills depending on your gameplay.

Initially it will be minimal, but it will expand more once you free the Kobold Shopkeeper and get the Bureaucrat Leader to come to the Entry Hall.


There are four main elements to upgrade:

• Armour: Represents the health of the incoming knights. It levels up using healing items! This one is managed by the Kobold Shopkeeper even if he's jailed.
  
• Sword: It measures the damage and special abilities when using a knight with a broad sword. You can level this stat by defeating enemies with the sword! Managed by the Kobold Shopkeeper at his weapon workshop.
  
• Musket: Mostly the same as the previous one, but with a musket!
  
• Map: Improving the map lets you see the location of certain rooms before exploring them. Exploring new rooms raises this stat. This is the only one managed by the Bureaucrat Leader.
  

• Tokens: You earn these by achieving certain milestones in the dungeon, such as rescuing princesses, opening chests or defeating bosses. These are the points you actually spend to buy upgrades.
  
• Skill Level!: Each one of those elements has its own level, which increases separately. You can't spend more tokens than the level you have in the skill. Remember that some upgrades also require a minimum level to be bought!
  

• Dash Attack: Stabs your enemies with your sword from distance, getting you directly into battle! It can be upgraded to even stun the enemies hit!
  
• Spin Attack: That old technique of swinging your sword all around like a maniac. A highly offensive stance with low mobility, though that can be improved by upgrading it!
  
• Explosive Shot: Quite a self-explicative name, isn't it? If upgraded it can even reload your musket each time you use it!
  
• Shotgun Shot: Shoots your musket with a powerful cone attack, kicking you back, quickly pushing distance between you and the danger!
  

[h3]WELCOME TO THE DRAGONS CASTLE, HUMBLE KNIGHT![/h3]

These last weeks weve seen many potential knights preparing themselves to enter the dungeon, and asking about what kind of challenges and inhabitants lure deep within it. So weve thought it would be an excellent idea to make a series of updates, sharing some info about the princesses and the guardians that keep them captive there, as well as about some game mechanics that will help our knights to survive (and even beat) the dungeon!



[h3]Lets start with the most basic thing what the hell has happened here?[/h3]

Tower Princess takes place in a Far Far Away Land, where lots of different fairy tale creatures lived. This place was divided into an infinity of kingdoms, each one with its own folk and culture. However, due to all the differences that separated them, and the desire of ruling over all the land, there was an Endless War that nobody seemed able to win.



One day, like any other, a mysterious castle appeared somewhere in this Far Far Away Land. From this ominous castle aroused a mighty fire-breathing dragon, who kidnapped the princes and princesses of every known kingdom, and ate any suitor that tried to stop it.

For the first time in a long time, all the rulers put aside their differences, signing a truce. For the royal lineage was magical, and it was of the utmost importance to keep it.

Every kingdom desired to break the truce once its royal heir was rescued, so none of them had the courage to send their armies to the Dragon's Castle. Instead, they announced everywhere a call for wandering knights. They offered a place in the royalty to anyone who rescues their heir!

Any knight with theoric knowledge about rescuing princesses knew that it wasnt healthy to face a dragon that roasted heroes as a hobby. But the promise of greatness, and maybe true love, attracted lots of humdrum wandering knights eager to try their luck.




Shortly after there was an endless queue of knights and knightesses at the gates of the Dragons Domains, where they patiently waited their turn to enter. And heres where you take place, as one of those random knights who await to enter the dungeon, to rescue a royal heir, defeat the Evil Dragon, and become a hero in its own right!

Once again, the dungeon opens its doors for the Steam Next Festival! You'll have the chance to test your might (and suitor skills!) from today February 21st at 10 am Pacific, till February 28th!

This demo includes much of the first area of the game, the Dragon Castle! This includes the first boss, The Pigomancer, who is waiting behind the stoves of the hottest kitchen in the entire kingdom to prevent you from rescuing the princess!

Three different princesses to rescue, a bad-tempered pyromancer (with such a taste for cuisine), and lots of random knights ready to storm a randomly generated castle! Sounds cool for a demo, right? c:
