Today, I wanted to talk to you about my favorite feature to design, animate, write, and code in Seeds of Calamity. I had a lot of fun designing the combat for this game. Ive been so glad that the reception for the combat has been positive! It was a lot of work but Im really happy with the results. Turn based combat is like a puzzle. I wanted each battle to be a new challenge for you to solve. I tried to make each enemy feel unique or at least present a new challenge. My favorite animations by far are the baby farm animals. They are just so cute and making all the unique idle animations for them was fun. The fox spirits Rion and Tion are my favorite npcs to write. They play off of each other so well and Ive enjoyed their funny dialog. My favorite coding challenges were the festival mini games. Its fun to code a game within a game. Making a small enclosed game loop was very satisfying and a nice change of pace from some of the larger features.
