Steam Workshop Support
It's now possible to create custom maps and skins for Motrdoom using Unity. Mods can be uploaded to the Steam Workshop making it very easy to distribute your Mods to other players. You can find the Documentation here: Mod Documentation Motrdoom
Maps
You can create your own maps using the before mentioned tool. The maps let you define which and how many enemies spawn and you can also add custom objectives to your level that you can complete in career mode as well. You can build maps that have almost all things that the standard game levels feature, giving you complete freedom of making your dream Motrdoom Stage a reality. Skins
Next to maps it's also possible to create custom skins with the Mod tool. You can create a simple texture swap for the character and bike skins or go all in and change the whole model. I can't wait to see some characters from other games appear in Motrdoom! Attention: Mods do only work correctly on Windows at the moment. While you can load and play them on Linux, shaders are not displayed correctly. I hopefully can make them work on Linux in the future as well.

Fixes:
- Playing the tutorial when playing for the first time wont trigger tutorial again when pressing start
- SceneLoad can not be triggered multiple times anymore
- Unlock level prompt only shows in career mode
- Career mode now has difficulty choices that change how much score you need to receive a level up
- All diffiulties in other modes are unlocked from the start
- Wallride angle changed from >100 to >=90 so doing a wallride is easier.
- Grind Corpses in Castle Crow stage now trigger death on gap
- Debug manager now has a option to load mods
Fixes:
- Combo wouldn't add to score if you picked up a gem right after
- Jester name now displaying in Leaderboard
- Motordude Ragdoll fix
- Rotten Docks grinding on quarters will not push you through the wall anymore
Fixes and Changes
- Improved physics that hinder loosing combo due to glitching through the floor
- Level 25 and 50 achievements now unlocking also with Auto Choose Upgrade Options enabled
- Redraw Cards is now mapped to the correct key when using keyboard
- Game is now saving properly when leaving options menu (auto accelerate etc.)
- Fixed a bug that stopped adding points after a certain amounts of wheelies/grabs/grind tricks in your combo
- Some Steel pathways in Demon Forge now have colliders from underneath

- Fixed some Typos and misspellings.
- Finished objectives in Arena Select are now displayed correctly.
- Flips now also queue while grinding and wallriding.
- The degradation of trick points is now calculated correctly.

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone that purchased Motrdoom and especially to the people that already left a review. THANK YOU! I always read all the reviews and I hear you! And some of the stuff is the absolute best I've ever read A few people mentioned the annoyance of picking 50 card after a huge combo. I do agree. That is annoying and I also put on "auto choose upgrade" in the options. But I decided to balance the career mode for new players so they can have a good time as well and get a good introduction into the game. So I dare you to try a single run on hard (you need to unlock that by winning on the easier difficulties first). You need much more XP to gain an upgrade, there are WAY more enemies spawning and they hit way harder as well. There are also some ideas floating around the discord server of a "Career 666" mode after beating the game... let's see what happens I also fixed some minor bugs today. The update is live now.
So what's next?
I want to add a final level and a final Boss to round out the current roster of arenas. Also more skins, cards and potentially some new characters as well. Most importantly I'm working on Mod support so people can create their own stuff. Firstly levels but we'll see what else after that. Thanks for playing so far Cheers, Chris Hobo Cat Games
Motrdoom Release
It's finally time. Motrdoom is out. After two years of hard work my THPS x Vampire Survivors game is finished. Thanks to all who supported the development of the game! Especially thanks to the people that hung out in the Discord Server, played the demo and gave a lot of valuable feedback to me. You are awesome!

Leaderboard Reset
As mentioned in the last post, the game has been slightly changed in terms of the ability to increase the combo multiplier through kills. Due to this change, the possible high scores are much lower than before. So I think it's time to reset all leaderboards of the the Motrdoom demo. I wanted to thank everyone who has played the game so far, and I was amazed to see what ridiculous scores some of you were able to achieve. So let's honor the top ten of the Old Factory stage in every mode and difficulty available.

I wish you happy new year 2024!
2023 was a great year and I wanted to thank you very much for playing my games, supporting me on my game dev journey and being part of the Hobo Cat Games Community. Without you this would not be possible. Next year Motrdoom will release and I will soon be announcing when and how. Stay tuned for that. In the meanwhile check out the updated demo. This new update brings some changes, fixes and additions to the game. Check them out below:
Adding Kills to Combo Multiplier
Only the first kill of a certain enemy type in a row will increase the combo multiplier. To increase the combo multiplier by killing another enemy, you need to either kill another enemy type next or do a trick in between. So if you kill 5 enemies of the same type at once, your combo multiplier will only increase by 1. The base combo score however will increase and represent all points of the killed enemies. Here are some examples: You kill 2 Cerebral Daemonium enemies at once that award you with 300 points each. Your combo will look like this: 1 x 600 (600 points total) You kill a Cerebral Daemonium (300 points) and while still in the air a Heretic Wheel (1000 points) Your combo will look like this: 2 x 1300 (2600 points total) You kill a Cerebral Daemonium (300 points), perform a Tailwhip (50 points) and kill another Cerebral Daemonium (300 points). Your combo will look like this: 3 x 650 (1950 points total) This change tanks the highscores by a lot and gives more incentive to perform tricks and switch up your gameplay. Before, it was possible to just ride around in a manual and kill hundreds of enemies to rack up a ridiculously high combo multiplier. Now you will need to master the combination of doing tricks and kills be on top of the leaderboard, which ultimately is what Motrdoom is all about.
Choosing Demonic Offerings
Every time you level up and are presented with the demonic offering choices, the game will now completely stop. Giving you all the time you need to carefully read and choose the best card offering for your build.
Career Mode
Whilst not available in the demo yet, I started implementing a career mode. This mode will be the main mode to play and unlock the new stages. This mode is pretty much inspired by the career mode of the Tony Hawks Pro Skater games and feature different objectives in each level. Next to killing the boss at the end of the timer, each level now features different objectives to complete like: collecting M.O.T..R. and C.O.M.B.O. letters, reaching different highscores, achieving combo goals and other fun challenges. Beating a minimum amount of challenges in each stage will unlock new stages to play. This additions gives players more things to do than simply surviving 10 minutes and killing the boss. Also I think it will help new players getting into the game better since the challenges all teach you how to play the game and introduce you the levels and to potential combo lines.

Gameplay Update - Shoot without Aiming
Since a lot of players found it hard to do tricks whilst aiming and shooting, I added the feature to shoot without aiming. If you press or hold the shoot button you will now shoot straight ahead. If a enemy is in front of you, your character will automatically aim at that enemy. So there is a auto targeting system that targets enemies in front of you automatically. Of course you can still slow down time and aim manually if you want to. This helps targeting enemies you want to focus on like bosses or exploding foes.
Next to that major change here are the other things that have been changed/fixed/: Additions:
- Shooting without aiming at random target in front of you
- Character can't go beyond level 50 (no health/damage increase after level 50) in Single Run mode
- Less health/damage gain with level up
- Healthpotions now heal a fix amount instead of a percentage of the players max health
- Manual and grind balance upgrades now also lower difficulty increase over time
- More points needed for level up in every difficulty
- Points needed for level up increases every 20 levels instead of every 25 levels
- You wont get hurt from slams anymore
- Lowered health of Santa Character
- Lowered prices of addons
- Lowered the increase of scrap you get from the more scrap addon
- Overall balancing
- Enemies don't go through floor anymore
- Fixed a bug that caused new cards to not unlock the first time
- Minor menu fixes

Play Motrdoom during the Steam SHMUP Fest
I'm happy to announce that Motrdoom is part of the Steam SHMUP Fest! You can play the newest iteration of the demo right now. The game features a lot of new stuff. Some things are completely new since the last update and some were in there before but never properly introduced. Here's a list of all the new things in Motrdoom:
New and improved "Old Factory" Stage
The first stage "Old Factory" was remade from the ground up. I tried to make the first stage as beginner friendly as possible. It now features a bigger more open space, improved obstacles and longer rails so new players have enough time to do long grinds and get used to the trick system.
Meta Progression
Motrdoom now features a Meta Progression System. There is now the ability to spend scrap on different Add-Ons. Currently there are 3 slots on a bike to put in Add-Ons.

- Motor Add-Ons
New Enemy
I added a new dangerous enemy. Introducing "Acidus Daemonium"! These acid filled Demons will explode if they get close to you. Shoot them from a distance to hurt enemies surrounding it.
Card Rarity System
Cards now have a rarity applied to them. There are 3 rarities as of right now.
- Common
- Rare
- Legendary
Introduction of Gaps
Like in the THPS games from back in the day, doing tricks over gaps will award you with extra points. Motrdoom now features gaps as well. I think it's a fun way to hide little Easter Eggs and award players for doing stunts over certain obstacles. Can you find all the gaps?
Balancing
As always with every change there needs to be done a lot of re-balancing. Since the game was too easy in terms of dying the health pool of all player characters has been reduced. This makes the runs more dangerous and through that way more exciting. Wins have to be earned especially on the harder difficulties. Is the game too hard? Try adding some Add-Ons to the bike to help you survive.
Updated Tutorial
The tutorial is finally updated with all the new moves you can do. You'll learn how to wallrides and wallplants, learn about the overdrive system and how to kill monsters stylishly. Also the tutorial now displays controller as well as keyboard keys. No more guessing which keys to press.
I have decided to change the core gameplay mechanic of receiving upgrades from the trick score to only get XP from the gems that killed enemies drop. Even though I felt like this was a cool mechanic and brought something new to the Vampire Survivors genre, I feel like simplifying the core gameplay loop is for the better. It was a nightmare to balance. Inexperienced players that weren't able to do big combos yet would be punished by getting less upgrades, making the game even harder, which resulting in even less upgrades. On the other hand being good at doing tricks and combos gave you a lot of upgrades, resulting in the game becoming too easy. To still give a meaning to doing tricks I'm working on a "Overdrive" system which is similar to the "Special" bar in Tony Hawks Pro Skater. Doing tricks and combos will fill up a meter. Once full it will give you some advantage in form of passive or maybe active abilities. (This is not decided yet). Also I plan on adding global leaderboards. To be on top of the list you'll need to have the highest score. I hope these changes will make it easier for players to get in to the game and enjoy the frantic chaos of killing loads of demons while pulling of sick tricks and combos. Here are the changes I made:
- XP gems are now the only source of XP (you won't receive XP from tricks anymore)
- Changed the bike physics a bit. Now it's a bit faster and you jump higher off of quaterramps
- Overdrive Mode. Doing tricks fills up the overdrive bar next to your healthbar, once full you enter overdrive (which currently gives you more attack speed)

Roguelite Horde Shooter
