As any good producer should, Frances Finklestein is trying to get more eyes on Wailing Heights' game page. As you may well know, game reviews really help discovery on Steam and It would really help his career now that Deadbeats have all retired to our musical village. Steam's Summer Sale is also rewarding game reviews with extra points in their Grand Prix, so now is the perfect time to leave a review for Wailing Heights on the Store Page. Thanks!

James Downey and the Aos S, who you will recognise as the singing voices of Leg End and Ada Z and the Zom Bs, have put their own indie album up for pre-order on iTunes, Amazon UK and Bandcamp. Thanks to popular demand, they're also going to let us add their new recording of Dancing Through Eden, the song played outside the Cremetary, to our soundtrack DLC as a free update! I've heard the album and it's pretty amazing. The DLC will be updated sometime after their release on Sep 1, but you can listen to a preview of Dancing Through Eden on their Amazon page.

Congratulations to Kevin Beimers on being nominated for Best Game Script by the Writer's Guild of Ireland for his work on Wailing Heights!
We didn't win the overall prize, that honour went to Little Acre (another great adventure game you should check out), but a great night was had by all.
To celebrate, we're thinking of formatting and releasing Kevin's original Wailing Height's script as DLC, alongside our long-awaited game update (coming very soon!)
Anyone interested in reading the original script to see how the whole story came together?

Well, the Good News, is that we got our hands on the final remastered audio files a week or so back, and they are sounding great. The Not So Good News, is that while updating the game and SDK, the compatibility of the lighting system broke, and everything in the game is very, very shiny. The other Good News, is that we've almost fixed the lighting, and although it's taken us a little longer than expected, the remastered update shouldn't be too far away. Bear with us just a tiny bit longer and your ears and eyes will thank us!

I know we've been quiet of late, but we've been very noisy behind the scenes prepping our audio remaster. 95% of the files have been reenginered, and we just to need to record a few missing files in order to set the update live. Shouldn't be too long! In other news, Adventure Gamers placed us Runner Up in their 2016 Aggie awards for Best Gameplay and Best Music, and we placed as a finalist in the first NI Game of the Year awards. The NI grand prize went to Her Majesty's Spiffing, which is an adventure game from our chums at Billy Goat that I highly recommend while you're waiting to play the remastered Wailing Heights again. In other news, development is going well on our new project Jennifer Wilde, and I'm sure we'll be teasing a few new images from that soon, so stay tuned!

Today is off to a good start with the announcement that Wailing Heights has been short-listed for a TIGA award in the Visual Design award http://tiga.org/awards/2016-categories We're enthusiastic to be nominated in the same shortlist as a few AAA games, such as Uncharted 4(!), with a couple of gorgeous indies in the mix too. I indefinably have a few more games to check out now...

We've announced a new game, Jennifer Wilde - adapting the best-selling comic starring the ghost of Oscar Wilde!
We're using an updated version of the Wailing Heights engine, so the Point & Click adventure will have a familiar look and feel.
More info over here: Jennifer Wilde
We haven't left Wailing Heights behind. We're working on further optimisation, and an audio remaster, so check back again soon for an estimated release date!
We've added a set of Steam Trading cards to Wailing Heights, along with unlockable backgrounds, emoticons and badges. After Steam's 2 hour minimum playtime, cards should drop every 10 minutes, so have fun collecting! We should have another update to the build in the not-too-distant future, and if anyone can help spread the word in the meantime, it would be much appreciated!

We had a few requests at the end of last week to extend the cover song contest, and we've obliged with a final deadline of this Friday 20th May. Our favourite will win a £100 Steam Voucher! Happy singing!
Wailing Heights is now available on all Steam 64-bit platforms - Windows, Mac and Linux/SteamOS.
Latest patch includes:
Wailing Heights, our body-hopping, musical adventure game is singing it’s way to Steam on April 27th 2016.
Since the game features original songs and puzzle-based lyrics from folk-singing werewolves, 60s Rock and Roll Monsters bands, hipster Vampires and soulful zombies, to celebrate the launch, we're holding a cover-song contest.
To enter, post a Youtube video of you performing a cover-version of a song from the game, post it on our Wailing Heights Steam Community Hub, or tweet your link to @Outsidergames, before Friday 20th May, and our favourite will win a £100 Steam Voucher.
With the songs in the game ranging from pop-tastic professional tunes, to ridiculous werewolf limericks in the Full Moon Club, you don’t even have to be a brilliant singer to take part! It’s our favourite that wins!
To get you started here are the lyrics to ‘Here Come the Deadbeats’, and you can hear the full track performed over our Wailing Heights Trailer on the game page.
We are the Deadbeats
Verse
You’ll hear us coming,
In the dark of night,
If you catch a sight of us,
You may die of a fright
Chorus
We are the Deadbeats,
Should be resting 6 foot in the ground,
But we’re here to play our music,
We can’t stop sharing our sound
Verse
Get ready for adventure,
We’d love to sing for you,
And if you let us bite you,
You can be a Deadbeat too!
Repeat Chorus and Verse 2
We are the Deadbeats!

Set in a peaceful, blood-curdling village blessed with gorgeous panoramic mountaintop views and the blissful stench of rotting corpses, Wailing Heights is home to the likes of vegan werewolves, hipster vampires, soulful zombies and all manner of well-adjusted supernatural taxpaying home-owners.
Story
Meet Frances Finklestein, the one-time manager of the all-time greatest rock band that Great Britain ever produced: The Deadbeats.
After being invited to a gig in a town no one's ever heard of, Frances Finklestein is trapped in a holding cell, charged with the crime of... Being Alive! A mysterious cellmate teaches you the power of possession. You learn to “body-hop”, leaving your corpse in the holding cell and jumping from ghost to vampire to werewolf to zombie. Each creature’s skills and abilities bring you one step closer to getting your body out of lock-up and getting the hell out of Wailing Heights. But of course, it’s never that easy…
As you jump from one musical monster to another, familiar sounds and faces start up show up. The Deadbeats have returned as the undead, and they want to get the band back together.
Gameplay
In the style of classic adventure games, you will need to talk to the locals, choosing just the right thing to say (and who to be), collect lyrics as you explore the town, listen to musical clues, and like all great songwriters; steal things from other songs. Add these ingredients to your musical possession wheel, and sing your soul right into a monsters' body, gaining their supernatural abilities and moving one step closer to escaping Wailing Heights.
