Hey guys and gals, [previewyoutube=6MiFGfmsRec;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] I have recently been looking for post-facelift Mystik Belle's gameplay videos for a presentation. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon 2 hour long video of my game being played entirely in Korean! I have contacted the uploader and got a link to Wind Translation Club blog, where it seems a full Korean translation of Mystik Belle has been available since September last year! So this isn't even a new thing, huh?! I'm both, flattered and surprised! I hope this will be useful to someone. Meanwhile, I'll have to look into adding Workshop support my games exactly for this kind of thing. Cheers. Andrew.

Hello guys and gals!
With Belle releasing on consoles, the game finally got a bit of the attention from the mainstream audience, and with that began a new wave of complaints about its "floaty" jumps. Personally, I prefer the slower, more controlled jumps, but this seems to be an unpopular opinion. Therefore I have updated the Beta branch of the game with, among other things, a new, quicker jump for Belle. Let's hope it's more to everyone's liking.
Here's what's new in RC5A59:
- Changed player gravity to minimize "floaty" complaints.
- Changed how double-jump works. Can now be executed at any point of the trajectory.
- Minor platform tweaks across the map to eliminate close call jumps and just-out-of-reach ledges.
- Replaced player walk animation with a jog to make it look "faster".
- Lowered some of the enemy HP early in the game to make them less annoying to take out with Belle's base shot.
- Added item name popups - the pickup names should be located at index $$371, otherwise default names are used.
- Made the Turbo mode the game default (thinking of locking the game to Turbo and removing the option in future updates. What do you think?)
- Fixed up the 30 fps mode, as it's been falling by the wayside.
- Increased frog sleep timer by one second. Might not be enough.
- Fixed plant-shooter-platforms to spawn at consistent height.
- Some changes to Sinclair's portrait and model. Added another state for him during end-game.
- Fixed a bug with Bitterwarts, where her item collision could become picky.
- Fixed Skelebro's AI, so he wouldn't jump onto platforms, or flicker when backed into a corner.
- Added a few new sound effects.

Hello Guys and Gals!
The day is finally upon us - today Mystik Belle was released for PS4 and Xbox One consoles by the awesome WayForward. Let us hope it does better there than it did over the last two years here, on Steam (which is to say not very well: ).
In case the consoles aren't your cup of tea, and you prefer your games with slightly more potty-mouth than E10 rating would allow for, get the Steam version! (the optional E10 version is still included here)
Cheers.
Andrew.

Just in case you didn't know, Dan Rogers' amazing chiptune soundtrack is available on BandCamp for the low-low price of whatever you feel like!
Also, the main branch of the game has received a minor update.
- Added support for D-Pads on (legacy) Direct Input controllers.
- Added a brand new VFX for collecting items.
- Added a short animated clue when passing by the Raccoon lair for the first time
- Added a subtle indication of the Raccoon lair if a stolen item is inside.
- Re-spaced the uncensured English dialogue to minimize the "wall of text" effect.
- Added the E10 versions of Spanish, German and Italian languages.
- Fixed a minor bug with item-combination.
- The map has been restructured, with new rooms added and some old ones removed.
- 2 new enemies added.
- 1 new prop added. It can't be interacted with yet.

Hello Guys and Gals!
WayForward, a company that in the past brought us wonderful original games like Shantae and Mighty Switch Force, is bringing my Mystik Belle to consoles!
The new, console-optimized version is coming to PS4 and Xbox One sometime early this October!
Meanwhile, you can still get the up-to-date, perpetually-PC-optimized version of Belle right here on Steam: )

I have added two new experimental graphics modes to the game's Beta branch.
Under the Advanced Options there are now three choices for View Port:
- 424x240 - The original internal resolution. Okay for scaling to any 16:9 display size.
- 480x270 - A larger view window. Should scale perfectly to 1080p 16:9 displays.
- 360x270 - A 4:3 mode for those still rocking this aspect ratio.

- Belle can no longer get stuck between blast doors.
- Sinclair boss fight doors slam down before the start of the fight.
- Added languages indication to pause menu. It's grayed out during gameplay, but lets players know language can be changed.
- General pause menu fixes.
- Added (c) notice to the title screen.
- Minor fixes.
- Added DLC hooks. The new scenarios should plug right in once complete.

Something I always wanted Belle to have was custom animations for all her puzzle solutions. Unfortunately, at the time of the game's release I had to write these off as an impossible luxury.
However, with this update the game moves a few steps closer to my original goal! Now many of the game's puzzle solutions will be accompanied by a silly player animation.
Also, I have nicely spruced up the game's foreground layers with more detail, and added a nifty pseudo-3D floor effect to a few rooms.
Oh, and there's been lots and lots of bug-fixes all over the place, hopefully improving the overall gaming experience.

Mystic Belle's Beta branch has been updated with a new build, introducing some pretty radical new features. First of these is the introduction of the difficulty select at the start of the game. The player will no longer be able to flip the difficulty at will during gameplay, as the modes are a bit more different now. Second major feature is the addition of warp chests. These are only available on the easier setting. The chests allow you to store up to 14 inventory items in them, which will be available in all other chests around the game's world. This should resolve at least some of the woes caused by the game's limited inventory space, as anywhere you go, there is likely to be a chest nearby. Beta branch password is "nowheretorun"

I have added a Game Speed option to Mystic Belle! The feature is currently in beta, and will allow any player to change the game's absolute speed between 50% and 150% of normal. The setting can only be changed from the main menu, as changing it during gameplay can cause unpredictable behavior. You can access the newest version of Belle on the Beta branch, with password "nowheretorun". Cheers!

As a game developed in GameMaker: Studio, Mystik Belle has been initially released locked to the framerate of 30fps. I have since learned the error of my ways, embracing the light of PC Master Race: )
The game has been overhauled in order to play at a far more acceptable 60 fps!
Here are the changes in the new version RC5A37:
- Added a main menu option to switch between 30 and 60 fps.
- Moved all control-related options into the Controls sub-menu.
- Added ability to map the dash function to a button!
- Added a Game Over-like screen. When playing on the Easier difficulty, this screen allows the player to restart the current location.
- Added lots of new sound effects for things that should've always had sound effects, but didn't.
- Added controller vibration function.
- Added an electric lift shortcut to the dumpster room.
- Re-balanced all of the boss fights.
- Added some new Belle animation.
- Added a UTF-8 font mode for Asian localization. A very incomplete Japanese translation is included with the build (anyone wants to help drive it home?: )
- Toned down some of the swearing in the Russian localization.
- Lots and lots of fixes and improvements across the board.
- Possibly new bugs, but hopefully not.

Hello there guys and gals!
Mystik Belle has just been updated with another language option. This time it's a full French localization courtesy of the awesome Steam user Jelogisa, who has done the whole thing by himself, using the retail copy of the game.
So, whoever was on the fence regarding Belle's adventury goodness due to lack of French dialogue option - you no longer have an excuse!
Cheers.
Andrew.

Hello there guys and gals!
Just as the title suggests, with yesterday's update Mystik Belle has received a full Spanish localization courtesy of one awesome dude - Javier Fernández Romero who did the translation work all by himself, using only the stock retail copy of the game. Flippin' amazing! Mr. Fernández does localization work commercially, so if you ever in need of such services, hit him up on Twitter (@windfish_), or via his website.
So, if lack of Spanish language option has ever been your barrier to entry, now you have no excuse!: )
Cheers.
Andrew.

Hey guys and gals,

Hello there boys and girls. Autumn is officially upon us, and you know what that means – Halloween! And what's more Halloween-y than Mystik Belle, I ask you? An updated version of Mystik Belle ofcourse! To celebrate its first dress-up-and-go-get-candy day, Mystik Belle has been updated once more with things to please your eyes and your earholes. Thinks like:
- 7 New audio tracks!
- Brand new enemy death-splosions (for all of you who hated the CheetahMen-like 8-bit ones)
- Better animation for Belle herself!
- Small re-balance to the game's difficulty.
- An optional E10-rated version of the game's dialogue! (Perfect for those who want to play Mystik Belle with their kiddies, but rather not explain to them what “douchebag” means)
- Hey, if the game sells well this Halloween, I'll be able to afford adding even more stuff to it, like bonus scenarios, and additional languages: )

Hello guys and gals, Tonight I have released another semi-major update to my game. In addition to a cumulative bug-fix, the patch addresses a number of gameplay complaints. First and foremost, the dash condition has been loosened, but in such a way as to prevent unwanted activations. I hope this kind of a change works for everyone. The second change is also dash-related. The forest hall with the Soviet Bear at the bottom, no longer requires the players to air-dash all the way across, instead providing some new obstacles to be navigated around. New effects and animations have been added to Franky's room and puzzle trigger scene. Lastly - a few new character interaction scenes have been added late in the game for both, Franky and Nicky. While Franky can still be found napping in his basement lab, Nicky will be in her bunk at the dorms. Her dialogue is heavily dependent on your previous interactions. Unfortunately, players resuming a save file from the old version will get the dialogue resulting from the events where Belle outright ignored Nicky the whole time (don't worry - it's only a couple of lines of text, and once you find all the lore, the dialogue becomes the same for all event trees). Either way - have fun with the game!

Hey guy and gals! Tonight I have posted the game's first major update. It includes various big fixes and aesthetic changes here and there. The biggest change is the ability to define Item menu and Interact to different buttons, as well as the ability to redefine controller keys right from inside the game. This even includes legacy controller support, though since those have no clearly defined button labels, no button representation will show.

🕹️ Partial Controller Support
- MystikBelleLINUX [21.08 M]
Inspired by games like Slightly Magic, Puff in Dragonland, and the Dizzy series, Mystik Belle is a hybrid of a classic point-and-click adventure and a modern metroidvania. While playing it you can expect to do some of the following:
- Get hopelessly lost in the massive school building and its surrounding areas.
- Find items and solve inventory puzzles. Or just clog up your pockets with useless junk.
- Interact with other inhabitants of Hagmore. Learn clues, help them out, ruin their day with angry flies.
- Fight through hallways infested by over 60 unique monster types.
- Defeat 8 bosses.
- Learn new magical and not-so-magical abilities.
- Ogle at retina-burningly colorful pixel art.
- Punch Cthulhu in the face.
Be warned though - Mystik Belle is NOT just a metroidvania - it's a true adventure game. You will not get far without having to solve inventory puzzles or talking to people.
Lastly, the game may contain some language not suitable for younger kids.
IMPORTANT RELEASE NOTES
Due to middleware problems as of launch the game has the following issues:
- OSx version of the game doesn't support the Steam features like the overlay, achievements and trading cards. I will look for a way to get this sorted out as soon as I can. You can still get the game's internal achievements which will transfer to your Steam achievements once this is fixed.
- Linux version of the game appears to only reliably support the Xbox 360 controller. This is a known issue of all GameMaker Studio games. More information regarding it can be found here.
- OS: Ubuntu 12.04
- Processor: Intel Atom 230Memory: 512 MB RAM
- Memory: 512 MB RAM
- Graphics: Intel 945 Express
- Storage: 25 MB available space
