Hello everyone We are giving this announcement to Steams global community to explain in detail all the reasons behind the decision to make PESTICIDE a FREE-TO-PLAY game from now on. Recently we've all been notified by UNITY corp. about their new / latest changes and plans in regards to payment models for all their partners who use UNITY engine for their game creations. Many ( if not all ) of these changes are not something we wish to support and stand behind. This of course updated our own relationship with them due to the fact that we used Unity engine to create PESTICIDE and planned to continue to use it in order to bring more updates in the future. Now thanks to their policy changes all those plans for updates are abruptly stopped. Some of you may already know that PESTICIDE is a project created by 3 people in total, but in reality the majority of work on the game was created by only two of us - myself and a programmer. We started this game as a passion project, first as a simple prototype that highlights the core game loop and later on as a full game with 5 regions and 15 levels. events and simple story with huge emphasis on fluid dynamic combat system, adult humor and simplified stylized mayhem. I am really happy and proud to say that my colleagues and I have achieved this goal and many more during our development time. For their effort and their willingness to elope with me on this project I am truly and deeply grateful, of course this extends to everyone else who contributed to the finalization of the project in the background. THANK YOU ! We have never pivoted PESTICIDE on the monetary gains, we never expected to get rich nor did we expect some insane financial return from the sales. We were always just interested in making fun games but we sadly cannot continue to do that anymore in Unity. For us, the UNITY engine is now the relic of the past unless Unity leadership decides to back down on new policies and return Unity to the former business model. We hope players will now understand our position and where we stand in regards to these policies. We would also like to thank each and every one of our supporters who purchased the game and hopefully had fun playing it. Of course for players who purchased the game nothing changes, game will remain on the store for as long as Steam allows it to be here. PESTICIDE will switch to FREE TO PLAY in upcoming weeks due to Steam's policy regarding this procedure, feel free to tell your friends about it, we would be more then happy to see people enjoying the game and have fun.
