Hey everyone, I wanted to share the news that we are gearing up for release of Rolando Deluxe and that it will be releasing next Wednesday 17th April - less than a week to go! It's the fanciest, most polished and snappy version of Rolando we've ever released, with redesigned levels, speedrunning challenges, new visual effects, support for mouse & keyboards and joypads and tightened up controls and balancing. Phew! If you've not done so yet, you can check it out on Steam and make check out the demo and wishlist it to be announced as soon as it's released! It'll be priced at $9.99 in US (and equivalent local pricing) and we'll be running a 10% discount for the first week. See you next week for some release day celebrations!

As you made your way across the Rolando Kingdom in Rolando Deluxe, you'll encounter four unique realms - each providing their own challenges, characters and gadgetry. Here's a little travel guide to get you ready for your adventure!

Honeycup Meadows

The rolling hills and grassy pastures of the Rolando Kingdom, Honeycup Meadows is the ultimate relaxation spot. It's the perfect place to get to grips with Rolando wrangling and you'll get introduced to Spirit Objects, Trampolines and many more gadgets, as well as taking your first drip into the dream realm.....

Fire Canyon

A rugged and beautiful range of mountains - much loved by hiking enthusiasts but treacherous for the unprepared. The mountain range separates Honeycup Meadows from Rolando Central but offers a shortcut for the daring. The rocky terrain conceals disused diamond mines, lava pits, spike-filled caverns and powerful catapults. Mining activities have left behind a large number of bomb-dispensers that you'll need to commandeer to make your way safely through these lands

Rolando Central

The bustling urban centre of the Rolando Kingdom, Rolando Central is home to many significant landmarks and popular tourist destinations, from the Royal Family's sprawling castle to the noisy excitement of the Fireworks Factory. Rolando Central continues to develop and grow - why not visit the eastern section of the city to see the construction of a brand new district, and hop on some of the newly invented "Draw Bridges" to move around the rooftops with ease.

Shadow Valley

Little is known of this region but there are disturbing rumours circulating of curious Rolandos that have ventured here, never to return. A recent expedition by Spikey Commandos has gone missing and all travel to this realm has been banned by order of the Royal family.

Rolandos are the rolling, rowdy characters that populate the Rolando Kingdom and they come in all shapes and sizes. A big part of the game is learning their different abilities and behaviours and figuring how how you can turn this rabble into a useful team. Here's a quick intro to some of the Rolandos and other characters you'll meet along the way.

Jack, Ronnie, Cecil, Duke and Rosa

The gang! These five have been pals since childhood and while they don't sport any unusual skills, their bravery and proectiveness of their fellow Rolandos makes them a great addition to any team. Expect leaping, rolling, trampolining, operating machinery and pushing of any explosive (or sleeping) spherical objects that you might encounter.

King Edward XVII

A fair, but occasionally ineffective King, Edward spends more than 16 hours a day asleep, more than the royal cat. His stewardship over the Rolando Kingdom has earned him much love from the population, but he is not an ideal team-member for an adventure. The rest of your Rolando team will have to provide protection throughout the adventure, using their combined heft to nudge and roll the King to safety.

Major Keye and Sergeant Thorne

Major Keye and Sergeant Thorne are part of the elite Spikey Commandos unit - dedicated to proecting the Royal Family and Rolando Kingdom. Spikey Commandos spend years (and sometimes decades) perfecting their extraordinary movement skills. These Rolando leverage their spikey bodies to stick to almost any surface, allowing them to climb walls, stick to ceilings and perform daring manoeuvres out of reach to the ordinary Rolando.

Prince Gladstone

The next generation of Royals have the opposite problem of their father: their boundless energy sees them constantly in motion, bouncing from wall to wall and constantly rolling out of view. Prince Gladstone's protection is of upmost importance, so just as with the King, you'll be on Royal protection duty, but perhaps his endless rolling might of some use?
