Happy holidays from Something We Made!
TOEM for everyone!
TOEM's 2nd birthday is coming up and we're celebrating by having the deepest discount ever at 70% off on both the game and the soundtrack!
We're so incredibly happy that our dream of making games is possible, and it's all thanks to every single one of YOU that has played TOEM! So thank you for letting us live our dream!

But that's not all... We have some more cool TOEM stuff to announce, so keep your eyes peeled!
TOEM's demo is back in action, woohoo!
Along with all the fixes from the original game, the demo now works on MacOS, Linux, and Steam Decks!
So go tell everyone you know and remember that the demo save file carries over to the main game if you decide to buy it! :)
- Self-portrait/Player closeup not enabling when sitting on Painter's Stol
- Soft-lock after jumping off the raft in Stanhamn
- Nanna playing the wrong animation making her stand on the couch inside the Basto tent
This patch adds Native Linux/Steamdeck build support and fixes!
- Native Linux 64bit support! (Game should run faster!)
- Upgraded to Unity version 2019.4.40 LTS (Makes the game stabler)
- Frame perfect bug where Cow in Homeland played a bell sound just after the game has unloaded the Homelanda audio bank causing weird behaviors throughout the game.
- Soft-lock inside the city caf if you take a photo of a mouse just before it enters the hole in the wall
This fixes so certain mac machines can take photos again!
- PGN Photo fallback (If our WebP plugin doesn't work the photos are instead saved as PNGs)
- @Resort_flower@ dialogue variable showing up
Appeared inside the Spanish translation, tt now shows the number of flowers that are left to water on Basto, as it should.
Thanks for all the fan art, comments, and love since our last post!
Hello fellow photography and honk enjoyers!
As we are starting to round up our development on TOEM and moving our focus onto new projects, we want to address some things!

Firstly, as TOEM is our first commercial title there was A LOT of new things (both exciting and exhausting) to tackle! Most of these *things* have been resolved, but we need to accept that we are still learning and move on. So in addition to this note we have put up a FAQ that hopefully will be more direct with known issues that has been reported in and how to solve them! The FAQ can be found here: www.somethingwemade.se/toem/faq Second, and most importantly, we can't express how happy and thankful we are for all of you! This community has been a pure bliss and we can't thank you enough for sticking with us throughout. TOEM couldn't have been made into what it is today without all of you, so, thank you. Hugs and kisses, Something We Made
Patch 3.0.5
In this patch we have added an new game option to jump directly to the post game content. What does that mean? Normally, to be able to access the post-game content island Basto you have to finish the 'Experience TOEM' quest before the ticket can appear in your living room. With the new start game option you will start with 'Experience TOEM' completed, all the regions unlocked, and you'll have all the items (HikeLady, Bag, Camera, Honk, Tripod, Community Card, Album, Frames & Filters) you need for Basto.
(The New Adventure menu has a scrollbar, a new option can be found at the bottom!) Due to having all of these items from the start, 'Experience TOEM' completed, and the ability to go to any region can make some sequences in the game be a bit weird, along with not being able to experience the ending sequence of the game since the quest for it already is completed. Just something to keep in mind if you're choosing to use this option when starting a new save!
- Option to jump to post-game content when starting a new adventure
- Nana now accepts a blurry TOEM picture
- Sight Photos are never counted as blurry
We partnered with a bunch of devs to be part of a Steam Bundle, the Healing Puzzle Games Bundle! https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/27983/Healing_Puzzle_Games/ We're extremely humbled because the games TOEM is sitting side by side with are amazing! Guide the lost ember out of the puzzling world in The Last Campfire, use brush strokes to step into an artistic adventure in Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery, uncover the mysteries by taking snapshots along the journey in TOEM (that's us!), rearrange the lavishly illustrated panels to solve the riddles in Gorogoa, and leverage the optical illusions to see a different world in Moncage... If you haven't played the game and own TOEM, you'll save 20% off all of them when getting the bundle!
Hello everyone!
A quick update here from the TOEM family to let you all know that the lovely music made specifically for Basto is now included in the soundtrack for FREE! If you loved TOEM and it's atmospheric music, we encourage you to support our amazing musicians Jamal Green & Launchable Socks, whom blessed us with their talents and brought magic to the world of TOEM! - Detached photos not being cleaned up if save gets corrupted
This small hotfix makes it possible to complete "Photo of Nana" quest in Basto by talking to Nana in her tent at Basto, giving her a photo of herself, and the quest is completed.
It also makes it possible to unlock "Complete all quests in Region X" by restamping the community card. We added this because some of you out there completed Basto region but did not get the achievement. Now if you have all of that region's stamps AND restamp the card, the achievement will unlock.
- Restamping the community card can now unlock complete all quests achievement for that region
- The initial loading screen information for the rare case where it would never finish. (This makes it possible for us to know where something went wrong)
- Game soft locking if you had the album open when Honk Hero carnival game finished
- "Photo of Nana" quest not being completable once the Basto was visited
This hotfix addresses the bugged compendium photo achievements by changing their unlock logic, this should make it possible for everyone to unlock them and 100% the game! :)
All you have to do is take a new photo of a compendium critter and make sure to save the photo. The achievement should unlock!
- Added unlock condition to "Look at those cuties" when base game compendium is completed as a fallback if it's not previously unlocked.
- Fixed all compendium-related achievements not unlocking on rare occasions
We won't increment the game version because this was just an oversight and such a silly fix
- Player being taller and stretched when they are not supposed to be
- Player not bumping when honked at
The FREE content update is OUT NOW!!
Vacation has hit the world of TOEM with a brand new region to explore! And best of all, it's free! To access the new content you'll have to talk to Nana back in Homelanda after completing the base game. Along with the update, our lovely musicians Jamal Green & Launchable Socks have added all the new tracks into the existing soundtrack for free! The update is being rolled out asap on all other platforms!

Read all about the update HERE!
Free Major Content Update!
It's already been a whole year since TOEM's release and wowee what a journey it's been! We've been overjoyed seeing players laugh at our dumb jokes, squeal with excitement after finding something cute, and of course all your photos! To celebrate TOEM's one year anniversary, we're announcing something we've been working on for a while... The free content update (part 2/2) and the end of our BIG update for the game! [previewyoutube=O7N8mO84A6s;full][/previewyoutube]

So what is Basto?
Basto is TOEM's biggest region filled with brand new content like treasure hunting, minigames, and spooky stories!
(Left to right) Treasure hunting, the carnival, and spooky stories around a campfire.
How to get to Basto?
To unlock the Basto region, complete the base game and visit Nana back home in Homelanda! This update is, of course, FREE!! And it's all thanks to everyone who bought the game and supported us, thank you!
1-2 hours of new content
As any other region, there is more things to explore and photograph! And for most players this new region will take about 1-2 hours to 100%, so it should give you plenty of more TOEM to experience!
The island of Basto has its own special behavior, which you need to find out on your own!
A New Camera Attachment
With the new water popper you can interact with the world of TOEM in a whole new way, splash your way into stamps and new adventures! It's also kinda funny looking!
Inside your camera, a new button will appear once you get the water popper, giving you the option to swap between launching water balloons and honking.
6 Music Tracks
Jamal Green & Launchable Socks have knocked out some more bangers for TOEM! They're so amazing at what they do, and we couldn't be happier about having their music in TOEM!
More music for your experience at Basto! As always you'll get the cassettes when unlocking new tracks so you can make your own playlist while playing!
20 Compendium Critters
Looking for funny, cute, and interesting critters is a favorite of many, that's why we added as many new compendium entries as we could!
Some of the new critters are not in plain sight and will take some time figuring out how to find!
20 More Quests
Ideas that we didn't have time to do in the base game as well as new ones, all found their way to Basto! And we hope you will have a fun time checking out what we've been up to!
Sometimes all you need is some ice cream!
Bug fixes
New bugs have been made, then resolved, causing old ones to appear, that we then fixed! We think!

We sincerely hope you enjoy this update and all its changes. Were eagerly awaiting your reactions on social media, the forums, or Discord! Hugs and kisses,
TOEM Development Team

- New language - Turkish!

- New option - 120fps setting is now available.
- MacOS - Not being able to take photos... In a photo game. Some older Macs seem to still have this issue and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it.
- MacOS - The screen turns fully magenta for a few frames while opening the camera.
- MacOS - Softlocks when trying to load into the game due to errors during loading of photos.
- Start a new game - Softlock if attempting to restart a new game if the current game has no photos taken.

- Community Card - If your sight photos are missing from your save file, the game won't load and empty frame and soft-lock when you try to inspect it.
- Camera frame tutorial always appears when starting the game.
- Memory leak - Small leak was found when swapping photos in a picture frame.
- Quit - Could not press "Quit" inside the title screen if no game had been started. lol.
- MacOS - Uses faster scripting backend (IL2CPP) which results in the game running faster!
- AntiAliasing - We removed the old AA since it only affected very small parts of the world, the updated options are None, FXAA, and SMAA. (SMAA being the coolest one.)
- Options menu - Re-organized some settings.
- Preformance - Removed some unnecessary graphics calculations, TOEM should run a little faster now!
- Gyro - Both inspecting a photo and the map is affected by gyro now!
- Loading screen information when starting the game!
- FOREST LOG BLOCKING PATH, AAHH FINALLY!!!
- FOREST ANTS NOT REGISTERING INSIDE CAMERA
- Rare issue when honking which froze the game
- Rare issue when taking photos which froze the game
- Game freezing if "Quit" was pressed on the title screen before entering the game.
- City granny car does not appear sometimes
- City cars do not play idle sounds when stopped
- City car logic optimizations
- Camera shiver shake calculations only happen when the camera is open (more optimizations!)

Quality of Life Update!
Its time to release all the Quality of Life upgrades we have added to TOEM! Just a reminder that this is part 1/2 of our big update.

The first time playing after downloading the patch, all your photos will be updated with our new compression and it can take a moment to process up to 128 photos!
Frames & Filters
You now have plenty of frames and filter to play around with when taking photos! Just visit the Photo Guild in Stanhamn and talk to the new member for your free upgrade! Were super excited to see what kind of crazy photos you can take!
Re-stamping
Finishing a quest and getting a stamp sure feels great, and now you can re-stamp your card as many times as you want! Say goodbye to unsymmetrical stamp placements!
In the community card there is now a new button in the top left, pressing it will lift your stamps of the card and allows you to place them again.
Liking/Favoriting Pictures
Make your favorite picture stand out even more with the new and lovely shiny foil effect added to pictures you like!
Select your pictures in the album, press the like button and watch that shine!
Photo Quest Information
Trying to remember what kind of photo a NPC wanted can sometimes be hard and thats why this one is such a welcomed addition!
A box with the relevant quest information can be opened & closed when asked to hand in a photo quest. No more need to exit the dialogue and open the community card just to refresh your memory. All compact and nice now!
Improved Compendium Detection
Taking a photo of certain compendium critters was sometimes a bit too hard, getting the perfect angle or framing is now easier!
In the old method, the camera only detected a compendium when the center of the screen was inside the indicator box. But now it checks if the circle is touching any part of the indicator box!
Keyboard support
There are many ways to play TOEM... and now theres even more! Moving with WASD works the same as any controller and is a very natural addition to playing with a mouse.
Unfortunately, because of our UI system, only certain menus have full support for keyboard. So you will still have to use the mouse for some things!
New languages
Feeling comfortable when playing TOEM is important to us and we hope that more people will feel at home playing in their native languages. With that said, we have added these additional languages:
- Brazilian Portuguese [pt-BR]
- Korean [ko]
- Traditional Chinese [zh-TW]
- Swedish [sv]
Save File Size Improvements
Saving a photo takes up quite a lot of memory and was a main reason why we had a limit to the amount of photos you could take. But with this updated comes something that is super cool! We managed to reduce the file sizes by over a whooping 1000% This is not a joke!
As noted at the top, when starting the first time all your existing photos will be updated and it might take a moment to process up to 128 photos!
Miscellaneous additions
Doubled Album Capacity With the changes to the save size we have now doubled the amount of photos you can take to 256 photos! Steam Cloud Save Fitting right in with the smaller save size is the Steam cloud save working its magic! Keeping your save synced across devices! Gamepad UI Icons The game now detects which controller youre using and will change the UI buttons to the correct one. So if youre playing with a PlayStation controller the UI will have PlayStation buttons! Gyro If you have a PS5 controller you can now enjoy the new gyro feature when using the camera! Looking around has never felt more natural! In our [strike]biased[/strike] humble opinion, it feels awesome! Additional Options Along with the new languages you can also find several new settings to tweak your experience, as well as more details about certain options.
- Auto save delay
- Music trigger delay
- Confined mouse
- Camera sensitivity
