Starting right now we're going to be introducing a monthly Community Roadmap!
The aim of the roadmap will be to keep you all in the loop regarding our plans for the game in the coming month, promote upcoming events and engage with you directly about new features that are in the pipeline.
By bringing you closer to the development process and our vision, we aim to continue crafting and building upon Worms W.M.D to support you and make Worms W.M.D the best Worms game yet.
So, things are pretty exciting update wise this month so let's get stuck in:
Global Chat
Many of you have asked for it and now it's almost here! Global Chat will allow players to chat to other online Worms W.M.D players and bring the online community closer together.
Whether you want to promote your custom scheme game, make friends or just chat Worms then Global Chat will allow you to do that.
Global Chat is also bringing a full UI change to the chat system. This will make chat much clearer using a 'tab' system rather than the little phone icon. This also means you'll be able to see the full lobby screen without the chat box covering up the important stuff.
Allowing 5 craftable weapons in the game as a scheme setting
Worms W.M.D hailed the arrival of craftable weapons, a whole new mechanic to let players customise their play style and react turn to turn on the battlefield with powerful new weapons and tools.
However, these weren't available for custom schemes from launch, but later this month you'll be able to pre-select 5 craftable weapons to be part of your starting loadout as if they were standard weapons.
We've had to limit this feature to 5 weapons for now so that we could get the feature live early. We have plans to expand this feature to full customisation on craftable/standard weapons in your match schemes, but, this is quite a big UI undertaking so will be coming in phases.
So from Ropers to fans of fancy weapons, your freedom in creating your ideal match is nearly here!
Patches, including bug fixes and tweaking
Exactly what is says on the tin!
We'll be watching the game very closely whether it's bugs, balance or a slight increase to the Worm plop sound. You can expect our support as we continue to refine the core game.
Cross Play in Beta between the Windows, Mac and Linux Steam builds
CROSS PLAY IS COMING!
We'll be holding a Beta this month to prepare us for a smooth launch of this much desired feature. This will then bring Windows, Mac & Linux players together to see who will reign supreme.
Of course we'll be wanting your help with this, so if you're on one of those platforms, do keep a lookout & make yourself known to us so you can pave the way with us!
That's October! We'd love to hear what you think of what's coming in the October Roadmap official thread
