Hey Community,
The time has come to announce the dates for our Worms W.M.D Cross-Play Beta!
Platforms and Timings
The Cross-Play Beta will be launched with the aim to bring together Worms W.M.D players from the following platforms:
The Beta will start at 10am GMT on Friday 25th (this Friday) and run until 10am GMT on Tuesday 29th.
How do I sign up?
Good news, this is an open Beta so all are welcome! There’s no password required to get access to the Beta, however you will need to access a different branch of Worms W.M.D. The good news is, this is really simple to do, even if you’ve never done it before. We’ve got the process below for you:
- Right click on Worms W.M.D in the players game library
- Select Properties > Betas
- Open the drop down list under ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into:’
- Select “beta”
- Select ‘CLOSE’ in the properties window
- Allow Worms W.M.D to update to the Beta version
- Launch Worms W.M.D
Then all you need to do is play as normal!
Linux users – Make sure you’re up to date!
We just need you to make sure that you’ve got your drivers up to date and that GL version 3.3 installed. If you’re not up to date you’ll be grab them through the manufacturer’s drivers. We’ve had to make this change as the minimum version of OpenGL had to be updated to get Cross-Play working.
How do I report bugs/give feedback?
In order to give the most direct, quality feedback straight to the development team we’re going to need our budding Beta testers to report to us on the Team17 Mantis database.
You can sign up to Mantis and find out all the information on how to report bugs by following this
LINK.
By giving us feedback on the feature here it will greatly increase the speed at which we can make sure the feature is working as intended and we can roll it out as a fully-fledged, permanent feature to the main game branch.
What can I do before the Beta?
Start talking to each other, Mac & Linux players make yourself known. Windows players, if you know any Mac/Linux players give them a prod. Agree some timings where you’ll be on at the same time so you can have a good cross platform battle. Feel free to use this thread to do this.
When you’re playing on the Beta branch you will be on a separate server to the main game and will not be matched with those who aren’t participating in the Beta.
Not only does this serve as a reminder that if you want to play some normal games, switch back to the normal branch, but highlights the importance of sorting out some matchups beforehand.
If you have any questions please feel free to leave a post.
Thank you for your support with this, we’re excited to start the process of unifying the Worms W.M.D Community in glorious battle.
