Patch 1.0.1 Notes

Hello all, I've been reading all of your feedback and while some items will take some time to address, I've released a small patch with some notable fixes.

  • Added a new option in the settings to enable smooth pixels. This option increases visual clarity when enabled. It is disabled by default.
  • Fixed a bug where the Phantom Gun was not attacking bosses.
  • Fixed a bug with the Dodgeball passive where the bonus was not properly being applied during boss waves.
  • Fixed a UI issue where gun part stats preview in the forge UI was not being reset after drag-and-dropping a gun part.
The next items I'll be addressing are related to new user onboarding. Many of you have expressed some confusion around how the gun crafting works, so I'll be spending some time improving that. Thanks, and enjoy!

Gunforged is now available for purchase!

As the title says, Gunforged is now available for purchase! Head on over to the store page to get it. Many of you will be happy to hear that Gunforged is launching with controller support! If you encounter any issues with it, please be sure to start a topic in the community discussion. I will be monitoring that space for bugfixes and balance feedback. NOTE: The latest NVIDIA drivers have created a bug with the engine I use for Gunforged. If you experience graphical glitches, please try using the OpenGL option when launching the game. Otherwise, you can roll back the NVIDIA driver to 566.36. I apologize for any inconvenience - trust me, it's not good for me either! Also for those interested, here is a devlog I made covering all the most recent changes to the game. If you enjoy this kind of content, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel. [previewyoutube=P-QT_myCRlE;full][/previewyoutube] Thank you for your support! Enjoy the game! Firebelley

Another Huge Demo Update and Release Date Announcement!

Hello all! Gunforged is nearing release and has undergone a whole host of changes in the past few months. This update now contains, more or less, everything that the final game will contain (except for the content that is specifically locked in the demo). In other words, this version is representative of what the full game is going to look, feel, and play like. A detailed list of changes is below. As always, please leave your feedback here after playing the new version: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2258480/discussions/0/4632610585628969943/ Gunforged will be releasing at the end of February, so make sure to wishlist it so you're notified when it goes live!

Gameplay Changes

  • Gun parts now have innate runes. These runes are like normal runes except they cannot be removed, sold, or replaced. This enables some interesting build choices with gun parts and gives each gun part a stronger identity. Note that you can still equip your own runes based on how many rune slots are available on the gun.
  • Overhauled gun part stat randomization, making each gun part much more variable. Gun parts should generally be more interesting as a result.
  • Guns now have a set bonus when you match 3 parts of the same type.
    • The set bonus is the same for all guns and grants double rune slots.
  • Gold and rune drops have been increased significantly.
    • This was done to address the common feedback that the Dungeon was easy to beat by circling around the level. Now if you do this, you will miss out on a lot of loot!
    • Additionally, this also makes it easier and more appealing to spend gold during the run.
  • Weapon ranges have been reduced across the board. This should make combat more engaging, as well as make weapons with long ranges feel more unique and powerful.
  • Added an unlock system for passives, runes, and gun parts.
    • Note that most of the unlocks are only available in the full game, not the demo.
  • A new hub table has been added to view unlocked passives.
  • Loot tables have been adjusted.
    • It is now easier to get gun parts of the same thematic type. For instance, if you have Bone parts then Bone parts are more likely to appear.
  • Added a new encounter type - the Prize Wheel.
  • Killing a boss now rewards a significant amount of gold.

Visual Changes

  • Updated art for rat enemies.
  • Update environment dungeon art.
  • Updated spider centaur art.
  • Updated Rat King art.
  • Updated gargoyle art.
  • Updated health globe art.
  • Gold and other pickups are now more visible.

UI Changes

  • Another highly requested feature - gun parts and runes can now be equipped using drag & drop. No more confusing hotkeys! (You can still use the hotkeys if you prefer, but I think you'll like drag & drop better.)
  • There's now a tutorial for gun forging.
  • Added a tooltip to gun overview that shows the combined effect of all runes in a nice summary.
  • Runes now show visually in the gun overview, rather than as a wall of text.
  • There's now a screen that alerts you when you've unlocked the next level. Again, only one level (the Dungeon) is available in the demo.

Miscellaneous Changes

  • Reduced the hit flash effect duration.
  • Added death particles and SFX to bosses.
  • Audio has been adjusted across the board.
  • There's now a calmer intermission music track that plays in-between waves.
  • The fire status now spreads to nearby enemies while active, rather than leaving burning ground.
  • Purchasing gun parts from the shop now sends your old gun parts to the gun parts table. No more losing parts inadvertently!
  • Various damage and stat adjustments for status effects like fire and poison.
  • Steam cloud saves have been added and enabled. Your save data from the demo will carry over to the full game, including your gold!
These are only the changes for the demo. A lot of extra content has been developed. You can get a tease of this content by viewing the locked content in the hub. And you can experience the extra content by purchasing the game on February 17! That's right, the full version of Gunforged releases in just over a month. Thank you all for your support! I hope you enjoy the new demo.

Massive Update to the Gunforged Demo Available Now!

The Gunforged demo has been updated with MASSIVE changes! It's been over a year since the previous demo so a lot of development has been done. This new demo contains a lot of big changes that address many of your comments from the previous demo. If you've already tried Gunforged I'd encourage you to give it another shot to see how much it has improved. If you're new to Gunforged, I hope the demo earns your wishlist! Please leave your feedback here after you play, so I can address any feedback items prior to the release: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2258480/discussions/0/4632610585628969943/ This demo is representative of the final game - meaning that no major changes are going to be made to the fundamental systems and gameplay between now and release. However, there will be tons of new content available in the final game that will not be present in the demo. Gunforged is on track to release at the end of January. Your demo progress will be saved and carried over to the full game, so stockpile some gold and unlock your guns and runes! Thank you all for your support. Here's a changelog of the most notable changes:

  • Enemy projectiles are no longer deleted on enemy death.
  • Runs now consist of 20 waves in a single arena. A boss will appear at the 10th and 20th waves.
    • For the demo, the Dungeon arena is the only arena available. 2 new arenas of increasing difficulty will be present in the full release.
    • Each arena will contain its own unique set of monsters and bosses.
  • Gun parts are now weighted, meaning some parts will be more common than others.
  • Loot tables throughout the game are now biased to make runes and passives that complement your build more common.

Gunforged is a fantasy roguelite shooter where you create powerful and unique builds every run. Your task is to fight through waves of enemies and ultimately defeat the final boss by creating the perfect monster-slaying build. Forge your guns with randomly rolled gun parts and collect permanent passive abilities to create the ultimate build synergy.

Forge your guns

Your 2 guns are each composed of 3 parts. Each gun part can have distinct abilities that change how you play the game. You choose parts as rewards for defeating waves of monsters and collect them from special encounters.

Collect passive abilities

Powerful passive abilities can be collected to greatly enhance your monster-slaying capabilities. The passives enable a variety of play styles to keep each run fresh and engaging.

Create wild builds

Combining randomized parts and unique passive abilities enables the creation of powerful builds. Create a gun that shoots bananas that causes enemies to bleed and spawn blood golems. Or, harness the power of electricity to fill the screen with lightning bolts.

Fight challenging enemies

Enemies in Gunforged are unique and exciting. Each enemy type presents a different challenge for you to overcome. Dodge butterflies shot by flying skulls. Run circles around rats with mossy weapons. Blow up Zombie turtles before they body slam you.

Progressing far enough into the monster arenas will lead you to encounters with powerful bosses. Get your build in shape before fighting them!
