The Story


You will be playing as a guy who's never really clicked with girls. You'd much rather spend your time on the computer playing video games than dealing with real-life relationships. However, things quickly change. Your best friend, Joe, has made a significant change in his life, and he is there to pull you out of your comfort zone into a new lifestyle that you never thought you'd experience. Vanessa, Joe's girlfriend, and Ann, her longtime friend, are just two of the girls you'll encounter early on. Are you going to build a relationship with sweet, shy Ann? Maybe you'll corrupt her instead? Heck, why not try to steal Vanessa away from Joe?

The Experience


Long Story Short is for people who like to explore and experience different alternatives! While the first playthrough can be intriguing and exciting, the second and third playthroughs might be even more surprising. It will enable you to see the scenes from other perspectives or find out what happened when you chose to do something different. The story has an end goal, but the way to get there will vary. I also plan to explore many adult themes and fetishes before wrapping up the story. I hope you will explore how the choices impact the characters, their interactions, and the eventual outcome.

Dev Update!

Hey guys, and maybe some girls!

Let me start by saying that I (hopefully) solved my GPU crashing issue.

For those who dont know, Im currently using a 3090, and I also have a 5090 thats not in use yet because Im waiting for Daz (the software I use to render) to officially support it outside of alpha.\nMy 3090 started crashing a few months ago while I was wrapping up the previous update, and instead of spending time debugging the issue, I focused on finishing the last few renders so I could get the update out.

Anyway, hopefully Im not jinxing it, but switching to a new power supply seems to have fixed the problem.

Now to the actual dev update:

This is probably the most challenging update Ive worked on.

While I was working on V0.10, I already had a pretty clear idea of which scenes I wanted to include in V0.11.\nThe TTricky part was figuring out how to start the update in a way that ties everything together and keeps the pacing smooth.

Because I didnt want to stare at a blank screen for weeks, I started working on several scenes separately. For some of them, I didnt even set the lighting yet because I wasnt sure whether theyd be night or day scenes.

Now that Ive finally locked down the structure, I can say Im really happy with how the update is shaping up.

And here\'s the current dilemma:

I came up with a new scene that wasnt part of the original draft, and it ended up becoming a pretty big one.\nIt includes all the main characters, plus some side characters and a ton of extras in the background.

Just rendering a single frame is already pushing the limits of my GPUs memory.\nThe scene looks awesome so far, but its incredibly slow to render.

If I see that its holding back the entire process, I might do what I did in the past: release the main scenes first, and then follow up with this larger bonus scene that ties everything together and adds even more content.

Translation Update

I also finished implementing full translation support in my engine, and I want to give a huge thanks to @Azexor for translating the entire game to French!

Right now, hes busy with some personal stuff and hasnt had time to fully test the translation or report issues.\nSo if you fit any of the following, Id love your help:

Small Bug Fix Skipped Scene

This update fixes a bug that caused players to miss a small scene in two specific paths:\n\nAnns girlfriend route (non-corruption)\n\nAnns hate route (not girlfriend)\n\nYou can still use your old saves. This scene doesn\'t change much besides some context between Ann and the MC.\nHowever, if youd like to see said scene, make sure you are on the right path and simply load a save right before returning the outfit to Mario (the big, buffed guy).\n\nThis patch also enables unlocking of the Wear It Now gallery item that was bugged.

V0.10 is finally here! I know it took longer than expected, and I appreciate your patience. My plan is for the next version to arrive much faster.

This update includes the complete V0.10 chapter, a few new improvements, and important bug fixes.

    Dev update and a bit more

    Some personal stuff you can skip to the technical stuff about the update below if you find this boring

    I found myself struggling a lot with how I wanted to start this post. As someone who's been developing the game for years and sharing a lot about my development progress (and more intimate details of how the project came to life), I tend to forget that when I upload the game to a new platform (Steam in this case), many of you just discovered it and know nothing about me or the project.

    Long Story Short is my hobby, and I find joy every time I work on it. Besides that, I also have a family and a full-time job. I work on the game whenever I have free time, and sometimes I forget I should step away from development to write these updates so you know I'm actively working on it. I guess that's just my way of saying that if I'm ever quiet, it means I'm working as hard as I can to pump out more content.

    I always promise myself I'll try to write dev updates more frequently, but because I'm not a native English speaker, these posts take me quite a while to draftsometimes a whole daywithout any progress on the update, which can feel like a waste of time. But at this point, I should know better. You dont really know whats going on behind the scenes unless I tell you, so I should remind myself (again) that writing these dev updates from time to time should be a priority.

    What I've been doing since I first uploaded the game to Steam

    The first couple of weeks, I spent most of my time fixing bugs, reading feedback, and getting used to this new platform. Then I started implementing translation into my engine.
    For those who don't know, I'm using my own engine, and why I decided to do that is a very long story I dont mind sharing in the future if youre curious.

    Anyway, the game is already being translated into multiple languages, but I found some bugs here and there that cause certain lines (especially those with game variables) not to be translated. I was hoping to upload the game with translation support weeks ago, but I decided to delay it to make sure everything works smoothly.

    Second, I'd like to say the update is progressing really nicely! Its hard for me to say exactly what percentage of the update is done, because I tend to add or remove things as I test it from start to finish. This part is always a bit awkward for me, because on one hand I want to tell you exactly which scenes Ive finished, but on the other hand, I dont want to spoil anythingso Ill just share some previews, and you can try to fill in the gaps yourself. :)

    Last point I'd like to address
    I know early games are scary because you dont know what youre going to get in the end. But at least for me, I dont see a reality where I wont finish this game, which has become a huge part of my life at this point.

    Steam Deck Issue [Launch with Proton Compatibility]

    Hey everyone!

    I'm aware that running Long Story Short on the Steam Deck is causing performance and UI issues, making the game unplayable.

    Quick Fix: To smooth things out, heres what you can do:

    Right-click on Long Story Short in your Steam library.
    Click on 'Properties'.
    Go to Compatibility.
    Check the box to enable Proton for the game.

    I tried fixing this issue, but since I don't have the device, it's nearly impossible. I've issued a ticket to Steam to try and get a test device so I can resolve this issue. I'm glad that until I get my hands on one, the Proton compatibility works well.

    It's my first post, I hope you're all doing well!
    So, I've finally set a specific date, as mentioned in the title October 24th, 2024!

    I've been working non-stop to set everything up and make it possible.
    I haven't completed everything yet, but I believe I can finish it in time.

    I'm both excited and nervous, and I hope you'll enjoy the game!

    I'd also like to address some questions I've seen here and in other forums.

    • Currently, the game has no translations and is in English only. However, I'm working on implementing translation support, and hopefully, I can find some great people to translate it into other languages. :)
    • I've been working on the game since 2019, with a big break in the middle to build my own engine. That's why some of the early renders are a bit outdated. While working on new content, Im also reworking some of the early renders. I'm the type of person who likes to keep moving forward, and I dont like the idea of halting development to completely remake the game from scratch. This approach seems to be working well so far.
    • I'm very active on Discord and really enjoy hearing people's opinions and suggestions. If you have something on your mind, feel free to share, and I might just incorporate it. :)
