Major Content Update 1.2.0

Is there a better way to celebrate the upcoming Couch Co-op Fest than with a major content update for Frayspace! This update brings a new deathmatch map, dash ability for the ships, four new weapons and a new powerup, making it the perfect time to grab your friends and jump into the action. Check out the full patch notes below and get ready for some local multiplayer action! New Content:

New Deathmatch Map Inferno
New Ship Ability Dash
New Weapons Laser Beam, Remote Charge (can be remotely detonated after shooting), Cryogun (freezes enemies), Airthrower

Changes:

Explosion damage at range (when not hit directly) follow now quadratic decay, instead of linear decay, w.r.t. the distance to the explosion
Damage modifier (affected by the ship specs and e.g. the Attack powerup), now affects amount of damage caused by the thruster fire particles
Rewired package updated to version 1.1.58.3
Added glyphs for controller and keyboard buttons in the controls remapping screen
Added screen shake for the hazards in the Earth and Blocklandia maps
Fixed text alignment of UI hints as the words were too close to each other in some cases earlier
Added lower target scores and time limits

Bug fixes:

Fix for a bug in which caused the navigation focus to be in the underlying menu when in the controls remapping screen

Frayspace is a fast-paced and physics-based space arena fighting game where you battle in fully destructible maps. You have several fighter ships to choose from and a wide range of weapons at your disposal to destroy your enemies. The arenas have unique environmental hazards which add more excitement to the battles.

Key Features:

Fast-paced player-vs-player twin-stick battles
Local multiplayer: split-screen for 4 and a shared screen Chaos mode for 8 players

More than 40 fully destructible maps
Nine fighter ships with active shield mechanics

Modifiable settings, such as damage, friendly fire, and respawn time

The fast-paced action is easy to pick up

But mastering it requires skill. You can choose to challenge your friends to all-vs-all combat or fight in teams in multiple game modes – deathmatch, last man standing, capture the flag and conquest. The AI players offer quite a challenge too!

Split-screen and shared screen local multiplayer

All game modes are playable in split-screen with up to 4 players and enabling the Chaos mode allow up to 8 players to join the fight on a shared screen. Frayspace supports Steam Remote Play, so remote matches are an option too!

Mechanics

Each fighter ship has unique specs including health, shield, speed, and weapon damage. They are equipped with an active shield that can block enemy attacks but timing is everything, as its effective use depends on using it at the right moment. The weapons inflict distinct damage to both health and shield of the fighters. Choose your weapon wisely, as the shield halves the damage inflicted to health. You can find many kinds of power-ups like time control, the shockwave and the nuke in the maps and use them to your advantage.
