May 2018 Update: Improved Drawing RecognitionHey there!
I finally released the game update with the improved drawing recongnition!
It took me a good part of last year to work on the recognition issues, try different approaches, etc. It is still far from ideal but I guess it is the best I can do for the time being. And I hope so much that the recognition became better than before) Please give it a try and tell me what you think!
I also spent some time fixing a few bugs: both recognition related and general ones.
Next time I'm going to focus on adding more content to the game. A got lots of complains about the game being to short. Hopefully the next update would not take me as long as this one!
Cheers!

List of changes:
[olist]
Drawing Guide!
Some improvements in the drawing recognition
A couple of new objects to draw
Bugfixes
[/olist]
The most significant change is the introduction of the Drawing Guide. You're now able to type an object name you want to draw and see an example of how it is supposed to be drawn. Even better, you can click 'Show when drawing' button and the reference image will be shown to you while you're drawing something. So you could just follow the contours of the reference image to get exactly that item in the game world. There're always a few ways to draw each object. Drawing guide suggest only one of them. So you're always free to draw something of your own instead of the reference image.
The drawing guide could be helpful when the game does not recognize your drawing (like an oar at the first level, a lot of people had troubles with drawing it). It is also good way to check if the game is aware of some certain object or not.
Drawing Guide is accessible through the game menu screen. Please tell me what you think of it!
I also made some improvements in drawings recognition. I tried to introduce more variety in how each object could be drawn. Initially, I trained my recognition algorithm on a set of drawings represented how I imagine game objects. So the game had no troubles when recognizing my own sketches. A lot of people image the game objects differently though and the game failed to recognize their drawings. I'm eager to address this issue now.
Since so many people encountered troubles with drawing things, recognition improvement is my top priority now. I plan to make more enhancements in the next game update. Please be patient!

[ 2016-03-20 09:36:39 CET ] [ Original post ] Play as an artist looking at a painted world. You're able to create new items in this world by simply drawing them. Use your own imagination to lead a stickman character through a variety of puzzles by drawing things he can use. There’s always a few ways to solve each puzzle.
Drawn Story is a puzzle/adventure video game about a world painted on a sheet of paper. You control a stickman character living inside this world and an artist with a pencil in hand looking at the paper from above. As a stickman, you can walk, climb, jump and use different items. As an artist, you are able to create new items in this painted world by drawing them.
Your stickman is always in need for some handy items to have his problems solved. Draw a saw and the character would go cut some wood. Or draw him a whole boat so he would not have to use the saw. Draw an oar and he would get a boat moving. Draw a key to open a locked door. Or draw an axe to crush through this door. There’s always a few ways to deal with an issue.
In Drawn Story you need to lead the stickman through a variety of puzzles: board ships, make your way past guards, explore castles, save princesses, escape giant eagle nests and so on. Your common sense and imagination will be your best buddies. Little drawing skills are required to create new items. After all, you’re just playing an artist and you don’t have to be a real one. But no one stops you from enjoying your drawing either.
