We're in the final stretch now, and every day brings us closer to releasing our final episode for this premiere season of The Detail, named "Devil in the Detail". The art is coming together rather nicely, and obviously we're taking our time with that to make sure we deliver the quality that our fans have come to expect. We're in the last stages of assembling the game, and barring any last-minute hiccups (Sod's Law usually demands at least one) we can still say we're on target for a late April release. At long last, after many delays and guttering hopes, we can all look forward to finding out the intertwined fates of Reggie, Kate, and Joe as they struggle against the corruption turning their worlds upside down. And on that note, Rival Games is proud to present a short teaser for what's coming up:

Winter is passing here in Finland, but for Reggie and the crew of the major crimes detail, things are just getting deeper. Much like the developers who toil at bringing these episodes to a close, there seems no end in sight for our heroes, who find themselves delving further into the conspiracies that drive a corrupt city. But twists await Reggie, Kate, and Joe before their tale is through, and as the story heads for its thrilling climax, will evil reveal its true face?
Yes, that’s right – in case it hasn’t been picked up by you sleuths yet, I’m here to say that Episode 3 will represent the last episode in The Detail. Though we had originally planned five, sadly the economics are against us, and while we’re proud of the fanbase we’ve gathered around the game, our sales just haven’t sufficed to cover the costs of further production. With that in mind, we’ve put every effort into making this last episode an extended one, to tie off all loose threads and bring this gritty adventure to a satisfying conclusion.
Yet there’s no bad news without some good, and the project we’re moving onto is very exciting indeed. We’re not ready to reveal full details on that just yet, except to say that expect more of the same hard-hitting, narrative-driven, graphic novel-infused gameplay that has become Rival Games’ signature style. We will of course continue supporting The Detail even as we look ahead to our next game, and we might still see Kate and others return in one form or another…
The third and final episode, Devil in the Detail, launches in early April.

The crew is hard at work putting together the next episode of The Detail, and we are fast approaching release - sometime toward the end of March or early April. We're still holding onto the fine details (aha) but for now, enjoy this teaser image hot off drawing tablet!

We've seen a lot of discussion and worrying about the future of The Detail. Have no worries, the game will continue in Q1 2016. We personally hate TV networks killing of their series in the middle of the stories, and we don't want to do that to you. So yes, there will be a closure to the series within the following months. So hang in there, Reggie's on the way! - Rival Games

From the Ashes is the second episode of The Detail, a critically acclaimed neo-noir crime adventure from Rival Games. It continues the story of detective Reggie Moore, informant Joe Miller and officer Katelyn Hayes as they seek to find out what is truly happening to their city. Continuing from the cliffhanger at the end of episode one, From the Ashes takes the players into deeper waters. What started as a murder investigation has now become something bigger. The police now has the new major crimes unit (aka The Detail) on their side, but will it be enough?

Hey there strangers! As you may have noticed, it has been quite a while since we published the first episode of The Detail. Some concerns have been raised by the community, but worry not. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and it isn’t even that oncoming train this time. The second episode, From the Ashes, is in active production, and will be released in May 2015! Check out the first screen. Now for the assorted explanations and excuses. Rival Games has always been about forging our own path as a company and making the kinds of games that we want to play ourselves. Unfortunately this automatically puts us at odds with the prevailing trends in the marketplace. The popularity of mobile free-to-play is waning thanks to oversaturation, but it is still the go-to choice for many investors. They find it hard to wrap their heads around the idea of a game with no match-3 mechanics that you actually have to pay for. Crazy concept, we know. This does put us in a tricky position, trying to find funding while flying the indie flag. It is a balancing act, but despite the somewhat slow progress, we have continued to lean towards “keeping it real”, for your sakes as well as ours. We are determined to give you a full season of The Detail, be it by hook or by crook. It may result in a certain “elasticity” in our schedules, but we feel it is a fair price to pay. Speaking of price, we will be rewarding our community with certain discounts as a way of saying thank you for your patience. You keep believing in us, and we’ll keep believing in you!

The Detail Episode 2 - From The Ashes
The Detail Episode 3 - Devil in The Detail
Controlling the actions of a bitter veteran detective investigating a brutal gangland murder and a reformed criminal trying to protect his family, the player is forced to make tough choices and deal with the resulting consequences of those moral dilemmas. The gameplay focuses on branching narrative mixed with interactive comics, and is completed by a professional audio track.
The Detail combines the emotional impact of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead with the themes of a realistic crime drama like HBO's The Wire, delivered with our own unique visual style inspired heavily by graphic novels. This is city where cases matter, clearance rates matter, and on a good day even justice matters.
The season begins with: Episode 1 – Where the Dead Lie
Features
- Character-driven experience with multiple playable characters
- Branching storyline influenced by the player's choices
- Mature themes for mature players
- Ethical and moral challenges
- Point n' click gameplay, with a modern mix of adventure game & interactive comic
Now including The Detail Episode 1: Artbook and Official Soundtrack.
They are placed in your THE DETAIL folder in the Steam Directory: ...Steam/steamapps/common/The Detail/
