Hello everyone! Just a quick update to expand the How to Play screen, giving more insight about the Day/Night cycle and the trapped vegetable companions.

Hello everyone! This new update brings some changes regarding game balance, but most importantly it introduces our new addition to the roster:

New character: Beekeeper

This unlockable character joins the battle with 3 new tools and a special companion that radically changes her gameplay.

New feature: Magnet Shard

This rare item will now appear during new runs, collect it to draw all the water in the map right to you!

Misc changes:

• New challenges (along with new Steam Achievements) have been added to the game. The Progress screen is not in its final state yet, it will be revised and expanded for the early access release;
• Projectile sprites are now mirrored when shot on the left side instead of being rotated.

Balance changes:

• Enemies amount have been generally increased throughout the whole run;
• Enemies can now spawn both closer and farther than before;
• Cactus, shrubs and trees spawn points have been rearranged, and cactus now yield more water units;
• Its now required to stay for a very short time in proximity to vegetable companions to collect them.

Misc changes:

• Stats in the pause menu list now show their description on mouse-over without needing to click
• Back End changes on how levels are loaded for easier implementations of new levels

Bug fixes:

• Restored knockback applied on Owlnions (or Moths)

Balance changes:

• Owlnions: Increased HP and decreased acceleration speed

Known issues:

• On rare occasions Owlnions stop following the player and fly in a straight direction

Hello everyone! The 0.5.3 Update is live right now, and I suggest bringing an umbrella because the days spent slaying creatures and saving veggies won't be warm and sunny anymore!

New feature: Weather System

Besides the usual clear skies, days and nights will now have a chance to come with particular weather, each with its pros and cons that will modify the playing field. In the Prologue Scenario you can expect to encounter:

Rain

With water falling from the sky, it's a perfect chance to stock up for a bountiful harvest, but beware of the puddles scattered around because they'll slow you down and make you an easy target

Fog

All these fog banks will make it harder to see a thing, but it counts for the enemy creatures as well, as they'll move slower making their way to you

Calendar and Forecast

The ready screen at the beginning of a wave has been updated, with a weather forecast for your current and next wave, and a calendar to help you keep track of your progress throughout the run.
Alongside this feature, there are additional changes: -Redesigns for both the Spring Trees and the Blackberry enemy creature -Fixed a bug that modified Tools values incorrectly when applying the Fig Item Effect

New Features:

• Added Steam Rich Presence, letting you show info about your current run on your friend list
• Extended the clock ticking sound preceding the end of the wave to 10 seconds

Bug Fixes:

• Fixed a bug that lets you click buttons out of the Pause menu while inside the Restart/Quit confirmation screens
• Fixed a possible cause for a bug that makes the top Vitamin upgrade unclickable

A quick patch for a bug that was found in the latest version:

• Fixed a bug that would freeze the game at the end of the wave after defeating the Pepper-Oni for the first time
• Achievements pop-ups are now shown at the end of a wave to avoid cluttering the screen during the fight

Balance changes:

• _Owlnions_ now slow down after hitting the player, and their speed increase is more consistent
• _End Scenario Boss_ has a reworked phase 2, with a shorter attack cooldown and slightly increased movement speed
• General enemy spawn times and positions adjustments

Bug Fixes:

• Fixed a bug that would cause _Pepper-Oni_ to drop the reward item multiple times
• (Linux) Vulkan set as primary API choice

Known Issues:

• _Owlnions_ might get stuck after being stunned and not resume their movement

• Added controller navigation to the Delete Save button and sub-menu in the Progress screen
• It's now possible to navigate to a previous menu using the B button on a controller or Esc/Backspace on keyboards
• It's now possible to check the inventory during level-ups and harvesting
• Game pauses when Steam overlay opens
• Game pauses after a controller has been unplugged
• The description box in the inventory is much larger
