Been only a week since the last patch, but i feel like it warranted it.

Gameplay:


  • corrected some issue with respawn and inventory on randomizer nods (inventory was skipped before, now it is attributed)
  • Changed what is shown in the attributes list in game (only the name is shown, and not the slot anymore).


Editor:

  • Completed the reskin of the editor, including better workflow, some new icons.
  • Point of interest now have the ability to add multiplier based on a resource for monster.
  • Point of interest now have the ability to add multiplier based on a resource for resources (require, receive. purchase).
  • can now reference base stats in Point of interest description and answers (using: *SKILL, *LUCK, *LUCKMAX, *HEALTH, *HEALTHMAX, *ATTACK, *DEFENCE, *BONUS).
  • can now reference resources amount carried by hero in Point of interest description and answers (using: ^ID, ID is found under the resource itself).

Weekly Update 24
Patch 1.0.9

This weeks complete the last tools i required to do the campaign i am working on.

This is going steadily, expecting to be done the next story over the next month.

Gameplay:


  • Now inventory (requisite, loot, purchase) on Interest point can respawn (if setup this way in editor)
  • Now Monsters on Interest point can respawn (if setup this way in editor)
  • Fixed an issue with the randomizer, not randomizing :p


Editor:

  • Partial reskin, more to follow.
  • Point of interest now have the ability to respawn monsters.
  • Point of interest now have the ability to respawn inventory.
  • Added a new type of slot, "Hidden Story Object" allowing you to manage inventory and requisite that is not seen by the player (slot and object is hidden, no matter what).


Coming up:

  • Editor reskin - more coming
  • Still working on a very cool new concept for the campaign, inspired by the "King of Dragon Pass" game!

Very excited to introduce the Randomizer tool, now you can randomize your story's path !

Gameplay:


  • Randomizer added to gameplay
  • Inventory requirements can now be any, equal, more than, less than.


Editor:

  • Added Randomizer that can be added to any Point of Interest (PoI), replacing links
  • Added option to use Click on PoI instead of the list for : Linkage, Start-up PoI, Randomize

There seems to be some (minor?) glitches with multiplayer, This will be my next focus to improve both UI and flow.

Patch 1.0.4

Hey,
Quick update on where the game is going.
I am switching gears and will start focusing on what I do best, programming.
There are lots of features that I want to implement in the game, but haven't had the time yet due to splitting my focus into many areas.
I have onboarded 2 writers to help write new (and much better) stories, and I am very excited to soon show the work they are putting together.
I am also working with a UI/UX artist to help transition some of the game interfaces that were poorly (ATROCIOUSLY) conceived by me.

There is the new story released with this patch, I would love to hear how you feel about it, if there is any issue, if it's too hard or anything else you'd like to add!

If you have any feedback or ideas, I would love to hear them either on the Steam discussion page or in our discord!

Gameplay:


  • New story, "To Rome" - instant death and difficult combats await you !
  • Fixed an issue with discarding inventory before starting the game.
  • Added better transitions (of the text area) for longer description text.
  • Fixed some of the interaction with inventory.
  • Equipped inventory now can only be 1 (qty). if you need multiple of an item equipped at the same time, each one will require a slot.


Editor:

  • Added a way to add negative constant stats points. (ie. -3 Skill)
  • Fixed some issues with some settings of the story getting corrupted
  • Fixed some issues with order swapping slots/objects causing corruption.
  • Improved workflow with the interest Point not resetting the tab when opened.


Coming up:

  • Full combat interface UX/UI redo (contracted out to someone that knows better than me!)
  • Lots of QoL for Editor/Gameplay

Patch 1.0.3


Gameplay:


  • Improved the french translation of "Chronicles of a demon hunter".
  • Improved the Combat UI / Combat tips.
  • Added different sounds when hit/get hit.
  • Added a "Restart" button once you are defeated or the game is over.
  • Fixed a few missing translation.
  • The stats modification from entering a story point now appears after the description instead of before
  • Corrected an issue with constant stats modification not applying correctly


Editor:

  • Improved/corrected the help section.
  • 2 videos released on how to use the editor
  • Correct an issue with constant stats modification not being able to be set correctly.


General:

  • Now working with authors to get more story out at a faster pace.

Released on Steam Early Access !

Weekly Update 15
Early Access 1.0.0

The game is officially released on Steam Early Access !

Thanks once again to everyone involved, more QoL is coming to the editor, and i am excited to see all the community feedback on where to take the game.

Moving forward, the game updates will be maintained in both Windows and Linux versions, at a rate of twice per month, based on community feedback and what I feel the game would benefit from.

My next focus is creating more game content.

Gameplay:


  • Story "Simply just Chaos" has been refined
  • Added partial controller gameplay
  • Combat UI has been adjusted slightly
  • Fixed some issues with achievements
  • Fixed some twitch votes showing incorrectly
  • Fixed the combat window when the multiplayer layer is active
  • Fixed some issues when creating a new story, some text was showing in the wrong language


Editor:

  • Renamed "Inventory" as "Resource" as it now includes story and attributes elements
  • Resource list can now be dragged for sorting, in-game layout will be matching the order layout
  • Added a way under export to set a default image for all story arcs, in case they are blank
  • Fixed some issues with the interaction with the map region while the story arc window was open
  • Fixed some issues with directional arrows not being solely focused in text when editing it

The Demo is going offline, thanks to the hundreds of people who participated, it was great to have direct feedback from the players!

Demo Update Patch 0.2.2

I received great feedback from the community this week which really helps drive the changes set for this patch.

Shoutout to "GregorianHipster" for streaming the game and generating a healthy conversation about the game. The chat provided great feedback that I went on to action right away!

The game will now be released under early access instead on Nov 10, our main driving factor was that the game would benefit greatly from the feedback and that we are not done making the game better and creating new content for it.

Gameplay - Story:


  • Added margin to the description text of object to help readability
  • Added Ambient type option, you can now pick which ambient type will play.
  • Improved the object information regarding the stats given
  • Changed all the music to new improved ones, added SFX
  • Changed the main font of the game to something less stylized but more readable
  • Added base image if no image is given in the Story Editor
  • Fixed usable object - giving skill bonuses. It now applies to skills accordingly for the next combat
  • Fixed an issue with music not playing correctly in the menu for selecting the story
  • Fixed an issue with combat vote not being set properly when set in UI
  • Fixed an issue with the combat vote timer after the combat was completed
  • Fixed an issue under new story. The description layout could be cut out of the screen
  • Fixed a crash related to missing images or removed images

Gameplay - Combat:

  • Added breakdown of rolls, and added a "random" dice icon
  • Improved the luck button now has a clear keybind and can be triggered by a vote
  • Renamed the "Defensive attack" to portray better what it does
  • Fixed an issue causing the dice not to be the correct logic shown vs applied
  • Fixed an issue that caused music not to fit "combat" after reloading the story while in combat


Other


    Story - Only Just Chaos: (note : the old local version of the story might need to be delete)
  • Changed some content a bit to fit the theme of the story better
  • Removed all images - New custom ones are being made
  • Stats update for final boss

    Main Menu:
  • New images for all the menu buttons

Editor:

  • You can now remove the hero and monster's images.


Next area of focus:

  • Improve showing combat mechanism, providing better UI/UX and tutorial
  • Improve the voting system, the Twitch system is not engaging enough, and has a lack of information and reactivity to the stream

Hey there !
just wanted to talk a bit about this week update, and what is coming up.
I am cleaning up the last bit of unfinished business in the code with the Twitch viewer interaction and it will be available next week.
EDIT: Twitch viewer interaction is now available !

Coming up October 9 is Steam Next Fest, which Tome of Fates will be participating in, While i am happy with the state of the development of the game, we are pushing for more improvement in the game in the coming weeks, stay tuned !

Demo Update Patch 0.1.6

Gameplay:


  • Fixed an inventory issue regarding using objects.
  • Fixed minor issues related to QoL regarding inventory when looting useable objects.

  • New Combat System:
    -The goal is to match your combat stance with the monster, using different attacks.
    -There are now 2 Combat stance bars, one for the monster and one for the hero.
    -Some attacks increase or decrease your combat stance, some do more damage. Using the right attack will be key to your survival!


Coming up next week:

"To Rome, Against All Odds" Part 2.
Adding to the editor the possibility to update the character mid-story.

Gameplay:


  • Fixed an inventory issue regarding loot.
  • Improved the stacking of objects from loot.
  • Loot now always shows info when clicked on.
  • Updated the loot UI.
  • Updated the description UI.
  • Fixed an issue where the previous description saved would double in size with each game save.
  • Updated text to support the Cyrillic alphabet.
  • Adjusted the text in the description and answers area to a less stylized font for improved readability.
  • Enhanced visibility of the "random" icon under the character to be clearer when enabled/disabled.
  • Right-clicking on pop-up/loot/purchase windows now closes them.
  • Improved scrolling up and down for the description (no longer necessary to have your mouse over it).

Editor:

  • Added a maximum stack for objects; please note that it defaults to 1, and this stack setting is global for ANY object.

Demo Update Patch 0.1.4

Gameplay:


  • Minor update to UI.
  • Improved and corrected some issues with gameplay regarding story arc descriptions.
  • Added smoother text in both descriptions and answers.
  • Answers will now be added to the previous description zone.
  • Added a file cleanup function at startup; now obsolete gameplay versions of stories will automatically be deleted to avoid clutter.


Editor:

  • Minor update to UI.
  • Added a way to increase the interactive area without relying solely on images.
  • Added the option of "exact quantity" for object requirements to reach a node.
  • Added the option to require a specific amount of luck to access a node; the hero won't be able to access it without the appropriate amount.

Demo update patch 0.1.2

Fixed a crash that occurred during story "play" creation related to keybinds.
Fixed a few issues with interaction between inventory and UI
Fixed a minor UI issue with multiple monster combat
Fixed a major issue with inventory when having multiple story slots
Improved inventory in general
changed the way "additional" items work. They now give primary stats, while weapon/armor gives attack/defence.
The active description of the story is now thicker, bigger and different colours to stand out from the rest of the description's history.
Release of the demo patch for Linux.

Minor debugging and difficulty update to
