Hello new and existing chicken army folks! It has come to the conclusion of Early Access. After 3 years of development and 5 months of Early Access I've reached the milestone of reaching 1.0!!!! I've came to a point where I'm happy with the game's state and my vision of a "finished" product. I have no plans to make any massive visual changes, changes to mechanics, or how the game is played. The game is now "feature complete". What I mean by this, is that any additions to the game will not change how the game is played or make it feel different. Any new additions that will be added are to enhance the player experience or resolve existing issues.
Patch notes for version 1.0
New features:
- Added freeze beam upgrade.
Visual changes
- New chicken models. - Fixed bug with guns and gear not getting squashed when actor is ran over. - Removed saved count next to timer in versus mode. - Fixed feeder healing animation being played on chickens that are no longer near the feeder.
List of fixes and balance:
- Fixed bug when completing Quarantine map it won't navigate to City map. - Fix bug in versus, helicopter chicken will cause crash when targeting a chicken that is saved. - Fix bug in settings menu being unable to switch tabs when gamepad is plugged in. - Screen shake is now enabled by default when first running the game. - Feeder provides higher healing value (previously +20, now +50 every 2 seconds). - Feeder lasts for 90 seconds rather than 45 seconds.
Version 0.11.0 has been released! This update has a few big updates. A few of these updates were raised in this post.
Features
Versus game mode
A new split screen versus mode has been added for local multiplayer or via Steam's remote play together. In this game mode you compete against each other to collect as many chickens as possible within a defined time limit. You can adjust how long you wish to play and how many power ups you wish to start out with.
Player upgrades
The level up stats boost has been replaced with an option to select an upgrade. This upgrade allows you to choose a perk that will help you. It maxes out at level 5 and you can hold up to a max of 3 upgrades. Play around with different upgrade combinations to find one that suits your style of play best.
New map
A new map has been added. The city themed map adds a lot of obstacles to avoid and causes some chaos when you're pinched by so many zombies.
New enemy
New enemy added! T-Rex. Watch out for the zombie T-Rex stomping you and your chickens.

It's been a month since the last update. From the early access release until version 0.10.0 there were weekly updates to the game. This past month of no updates doesn't mean the game hasn't been worked on, in fact, this might be the biggest update yet.
What to expect
Versus mode
A new game mode for local co-op will be featured in this upcoming update. It's 'Versus mode'!! Play against you friend or foe ;) in split screen and collect as many chickens as possible within a defined time limit. The winner is whoever has the most chickens collected. Your chickens will also attack your foe's chickens for a lot of chaotic fun.
City map
Since the release of the game there hasn't been a new map as focus was heavy on improving performance and updating visuals. With most of that out of the way, I've had time to create a new exciting map which takes you to the city streets filled with zombie chickens.
T-rex chicken zombie
Unlike the other maps, the zombie maps are lacking in enemy variety, and present little challenge when given a lot of power-ups. This is where the monster T-Rex comes in. The super mutant chicken returning to it's original roots of the dinosaur era. Watch out for this monster as T-rex will stomp your chickens flat when too close.
Other
Included in the update are a few bug fixes as well as the usual performance improvements.
Developer news
Some personal news, after the release of this update I will be away for a month as I will be getting married to my beautiful fianc and going on our honeymoon. Once returned I will be back into development focusing on efforts towards the 1.0 release.
A bug was reported when playing a map for longer than 1 hour. The counter will reset as well as the score. This bug is now fixed! New times surviving for longer than 1 hour will now show up in the leaderboard as well as in your 'Best time'. Unfortunately previous times recorded (prior to this update) exceeding 1 hour will not appear.

This is the first major update since the game's Early Access release. I'm excited to share this update which visually updates all the maps in the game. Including some local co-op fixes.
UPDATES:
- Updated all maps with new assets for an improved visual experience.
- Reduced game file size.
- Reduced VRAM usage.
- Removed 'Max chickens', now there is no limit to the number of chickens to follow.
FIXES:
- Reduced laser damage (balance).
- Fixed co-op distance preventing players going off screen.
- Fixed incorrect raycasts on some actors.
- Fixed zombie chickens spawning off map.
- Removed 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons on character select screen when there are none.
This patch is a little large as I've made a number of changes to reduce the game's disk size by 40%. So now you have extra hard drive space!
The exciting addition I've added into this patch is a new powerup. My plans for patches are mostly to fix bugs and improve performance. Updates would normally include new features, but I felt like I wanted to add content and didn't want to wait till I create a new update.
Helicopter chicken to the rescue! It's quite over powered but that's the joke and part of the fun. It will cost quite a hefty amount of chickens to buy this one though.
I've noticed the game really drops in performance when there's lots of explosions. So I've been working hard to find clever ways to squeeze any optimizations I can. I hope it's better...not worse.
Man, chickens sometimes just don't want to follow you, especially in the map "Caged". Well...it's now fixed. No more running around hoping to wake up the chickens to follow you, they should now have your full attention.

Earlier this week the game was released and now I'm closing the week with an update!
There has been some reported cases of a breaking bug that will cause the game to crash. This happens when a player collects a second egg (which should display a set of booster cards) and the game will crash. I have made some changes to hopefully have fixed the issue in this update. EDIT: this issue still exists for some players. Will continue to investigate the issue to resolve ASAP.
The main feature in this update is 2 new power ups. The baby chicks can now become chickens with the use of the 'Grow up' power up OR into fat chickens with the use of 'Hormones added'.
Chicks with 'Grow up' can be combined with 'Gimmie guns' to equip them with weapons.
Chicks with 'Hormones added' can be combined with 'Gimmie guns' to equip them with bazookas and things will be eggs-plosive!

Thank you to those who have been playing the pre-released version! I've noticed an issue with the following chickens losing sight of you when they immediately fall behind a tree/rock/building. This can be a pretty frustrating when your chicken army looses sight and you're under the time pressure. This is now fixed! Chickens will now continue to follow you unless you've surpassed a distance away from them.
