Update Notes


  • All the planned Steam achievements added!
  • A bug that caused missiles to prematurely explode before hitting their target has been fixed.
  • Laser towers no longer have a slim chance to one shot the player instantly upon spawning.
  • Dying during an upgrade sequence while a nuke is going off no longer soft-locks the game.
  • Shader compilation now primarily happens when loading the main menu instead of in-game. The effects of this change may depend on your device, but generally, the game will take slightly longer to boot up but will have significantly fewer stutters mid-game.
  • Localization updated to include some previously untranslated UI elements.
  • Some minor UI bugs fixed.

Input Remap and Steam Achievements Update

What's New:

  • We got achievements! (well, only one achievement for now but many more is planned for near future)
  • Controls are now rebind-able (it was way harder to implement than I was hoping it would be)
  • Vertical aim can be inverted for all the inverted-aim people out there. (Thanks to Captain Facepalm for suggesting this)
  • Death screen is now a bit more informative, you can now see what type of enemy killed you
  • Fixed a crucial bug that would cause the final boss to just one shot the player out of nowhere
Known issues:
  • Your controls may not be saved after quitting the game, I'll post a fix soon (hopefully)
  • Newly added menu items are not translated yet, they will appear in English regardless of your language settings. (I don't know how you are supposed to read this if you don't speak English but there isn't much I can do about it ._.)

Controller Support and Additional Tracks in the Soundtrack

Controller support is finally here!


All Changes


  • Controller support is here! You can fully play the game and navigate the menus using your controller.
  • To complement controller support, an aim assist option also has been added. This setting is OFF by default, you can toggle it ON in the main menu.
  • 2 new tracks have been added to the soundtrack.
  • Minor UI improvements for controller navigation.

September 28 Update (Linux Support)

Hello everyone, This update brings Linux support as well as some bugfixes and gameplay changes.

MISC


-The project has been upgraded to Godot 4.1 -The game is now available on Linux (Linux build is not fully tested, feedback from Linux users is greatly appreciated) -We now have a Discord server, join here: https://discord.gg/EY6GG4zxHJ

BUGFIXES


-Fixed a bug that occasionally prevented the shield from saving the player. (Shield now works properly) -Tactical nuke no longer crashes the game. -Minigun can now properly be upgraded beyond level 4. -Dying during the upgrade sequence no longer causes the game to be soft-locked on death screen. -Fixed minor visual/physics related bugs caused by extremely high frame rates. -Jet Fighters now properly de-spawn upon leaving the map. -Fixed the audio distortion caused by too many enemies surrounding the player.

GAMEPLAY


-Fire rate of the Lock-on Missiles have been decreased significantly.

KNOWN ISSUES


-Directly flying into a big group of enemies might destroy more than one shield (Difficult to do unintentionally). -There's an unidentified problem that still causes crashes, usually around halfway through the run. -Restarting also very rarely crashes the game. -If the player presses fire button just as the upgrade sequence starts, automatic weapons might be stuck firing on their own until the player activates then deactivates them. -Menu music might occasionally play in-game.

Missiles Away is Out in Early Access Now!

We're excited to announce that Missiles Away is available now in Early Access!


While the game is near-complete, there is always room for improvement. Early Access is a great opportunity to gather feedback and fine-tune some aspects of the game. The Early Access period should take around 3 to 6 months depending on the feedback. You can find more information about the Early Access on the store page.

Minor Bug Fixes and Some Quality of Life Improvements for The Demo

Here's a quick recap of what's new for the demo:

Bug Fixes


  • Fixed the performance issues caused by there being too many enemies active at once.
  • Fixed the visual glitch caused by looking directly up or down.
  • Arena limiter now correctly prevents the player from leaving the game area (Sorry explorers, but there isn't much going on out there anyway ._.).

Quality of Life Improvements


  • Enemy lasers now make an audible humming noise when they are close-by.

Game Balance


  • Arena size increased slightly.
  • An extra set of grapple hook points (factory buildings) added to complement the increased arena size.

Other


  • Corrected some minor spelling errors in the UI.

Demo Has Been Updated!

Demo has been updated today to address some issues based on feedback! Following improvements were made:

Bug Fixes


  • Fixed the annoying bug where the enemies can move around during the intro of the upgrade sequence. Also now the weapons can fired during slow motion (It looks very cool!). Dying during the upgrade sequence also no longer breaks the game (To be fair, dying in the upgrade sequence is extremely unlikely now).
  • Fixed the bug that caused the missiles to fire when a menu item is selected.
  • Timer now correctly shows the amount of time until the end of the demo.

Quality of Life Improvements


  • Added an indicator to show where enemies are about to spawn.
  • Enemies now make a distinct noise when they are creeping behind you.
  • Spawn tower weak points now explode like the regular enemies, making it clear when they are destroyed.
  • Grapple hook is a lot more forgiving and doesn't require extreme precision to latch onto far objects.
  • UI was made simpler and easier to read.
  • Added a display that shows exactly how many enemies are present at any given time.
  • CRT effect can now be toggled on or off (Also helps a lot with bit rate issues if you are streaming/recording).
  • Added a display that shows exactly how much XP is needed for the next upgrade.

Game Balance


  • Grapple hook now gives a bigger speed boost.
  • Slightly reduced the wait time at the beginning of each run.
  • Enemy spawn schedule has been updated for better balance.

Other


  • Added proper model and sound effects for the helicopter rotor.
  • Added cool opening screen at the beginning of the run. (Not as cool as firing during slow motion but still very cool!)
