Hey Cannibal Lovers, We've fixed the issue that was preventing the Empathy and Coercion achievements from unlocking. Thanks to your feedback, we were able to identify and resolve the problem. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Stay tuned for the next update! Ciao!
Hello Cannibal lovers,
Today marks two weeks since the release of our game.
As expected, purchases have significantly decreased compared to the first week. As you can see from the graph, the curve is declining after the initial peak and has stabilized at about ten copies a day.
This trend aligns with our expectations based on the game's wishlist numbers. Unfortunately, this is not enough for us to quickly recoup the expenses incurred during development.
The number of new daily wishlists is good, and the wishlist conversion rate is also not bad.
We have received excellent reviews, both in terms of quantity and quality, with almost all being positive except for just two negative reviews.
Most of our players are still from the United States, likely due to the lack of a localization system.
In the meantime, we have created new screenshots for the Steam page. Feedback is welcome.
Last week, we were approached by a publisher interested in the game, but it turned out to be a waste of time. We plan to release a detailed postmortem of the project, where we will address the issue of publishers (always be cautious!) and some of the challenges we faced, which currently put the next episodes in doubt.
Thats all for this week.
Well update you soon.
Best regards from your trusty neighborhood Cannibal Team.
Hello Cannibal Lovers,
Today marks the end of the first week since the release of our game.
Yesterday, we noticed a sharp decline in both conversions and new wishlists. We are optimistic that upcoming updates will revitalize these figures.
As mentioned yesterday, today we have released the first update, which introduces new graphic settings options. This enhancement should improve player experience by allowing more customization tailored to individual hardware specifications.
Looking ahead, our next update will include the localization system. We aim to broaden our audience by providing the game in multiple languages, starting with Italian and Russian. We will keep you updated as soon as we have a confirmed release date for this feature.
From now on, our devlogs will transition to a weekly format to provide more comprehensive updates and insights.
Thats all for today.
Have a great evening from your trusty neighborhood Cannibal Team.
Hello Cannibal Lovers,
Today marks the seventh day since the release of our game, and by tomorrow, our first week will be complete.
A quick update on the numbers:
Conversions have declined compared to the first day, which was anticipated, but they are now stabilizing.
Wishlists continue to grow, though the increase rate has slowed since the peak on release day. We've gained an additional 1k wishlists in nearly a week.
Currently, 60% of sales have resulted from converting a wishlist into a purchase.
Tomorrow, we will release the first update, which includes adding video settings to the options menu.
Soon after, we'll introduce the localization system, adding Italian and Russian as the first languages.
Recently, we've been receiving numerous emails requesting promotional codes from Steam curators. Interestingly, many request these via email and advise against using Steam's internal key distribution system within the curator section, which we suspect could be scams. Therefore, we have not responded to these emails. We have only sent promotional codes using Steams internal system to curators who have requested to review the game through this official channel.
Thats all for today.
Have a great evening from your trusty neighborhood Cannibal Team.
Hello Cannibal Lovers, Today marks the fifth day since the release of our game. Id like to take a moment to talk about the release. Were thrilled to report that 90% of the reviews have been positive, and we truly appreciate the kind words and praise. However, we have received two negative reviews, regrettably from fellow Italians. Both critiques focused on the absence of an Italian language option. I want to highlight to these individuals (and others) the critical impact reviews on Steam can have. They significantly influence sales and can make or break a project, potentially wasting months or even years of a teams effort. Criticizing a game for lacking Italian language support may seem trivial for several reasons. First, the available languages are clearly listed on the games Steam page, so buyers know what to expect. If someone wanted the game in Italian, they could have chosen not to purchase it and wait for the first update, which will include localization. Additionally, we have frequently communicated through these devlogs that we are working on adding more languages. Implementing localization takes time, and unfortunately, the sales from Cannibal Tales alone arent enough to allow us to focus solely on this project. Lastly, games are often released in English first because its one of the most widely spoken languages globally, unlike Italian. Prioritizing English allows us to reach a broader audience without the immediate need for managing multiple localizations and incurring the associated translation costs, which are typically expensive. So next time, before leaving a review, please take a deep breath and spend some time reflecting on what you would like to write. That said, well catch up with you tomorrow. Have a great evening from your trusty neighborhood Cannibal Team.
Good morning, Cannibal Lovers,
Day four post-release: here's a quick update.
The game's numbers continue to hold steady. The conversions on the third day have slightly increased compared to the second day, while the wishlists have halved.
The primary audience remains the American players, largely because the game is currently available only in English. We hope that localizing the game will help us reach a broader audience.
Regarding achievements, no player has unlocked "Coercion" or "Empathy" yet.
Thats all for today.
See you tomorrow!
Hello Cannibal Lovers,
During the first week following the game's release, we'll be keeping you updated on its progress and the latest development news through daily devlogs.
Day three post-release, let's review the first two days.
The numbers are in line with our forecasts. Unfortunately, we didn't have a large number of wishlists; by release, we had reached 2,500 wishlists. The conversion at launch was consistent with the "magic formulas" taught to us by Chris Zukowski.
The wishlist-to-sales conversion rate was close to 5%.
On the second day, we experienced a sales drop of about one-third, which was anticipated. Additionally, on the day of the release, our wishlists saw a spike, increasing by 20% in just one day.
We are working to integrate the localization management system as soon as possible.
Most of the traffic to our page comes from the United States and Russia.
On our Discord server, a user has offered to help localize the game into Russian, which will be one of the first languages we add, along with Italian.
We are seeking individuals capable of assisting with Japanese and Chinese localization. Please contact us on our Discord server if you know someone.
Regarding console porting, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation are currently confirmed. Unfortunately, Microsoft has not yet approved the game, rejecting the concept.
Thats all for today.
See you tomorrow!
Hello everyone, First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who supported us by purchasing the game on Day 1. Your enthusiasm is what keeps us goingTHANK YOU! Today, I'd like to address a recent negative review that highlighted two main issues:
- Lack of localization in languages other than English
- The perceived brevity of the gameplay experience.
Dear Cannibal Lovers,
The day has finally arrived! Episode 1 of Cannibal Tales is now available on Steam! We're thrilled to have brought the first part of this project to life, despite countless challenges. This is just the beginning of a larger journey: two more visual novel episodes are set for release in 2025, and a 3D survival horror game is planned for 2026.
We're deeply sorry we couldn't share this moment with the master Ruggero Deodato, but we believe releasing the game on his birthday is a fitting tribute to him.
We hope you enjoy the game, and we eagerly await your feedback on our Discord server: https://discord.gg/Bk6wRBmNkA.
The next steps include the Switch and PlayStation releases, as well as localization into other languages.
We'll keep you updated.
That's all for now.
The Cannibal Team
Hello cannibal lovers, The wait is over. We're thrilled to announce that the beginning of the "Cannibal Tales" saga now has a set release date. Mark your calendars: on May 7th, in celebration and tribute to the master Ruggero Deodato, the first episode will be released on Steam, on his birthday. This decision was made to honor his legacy at a significant time, even though the game has been ready since the end of December. We've also created a trailer to share the official release date with the world! We hope you like it: [previewyoutube=IEu0rP33ytw;full][/previewyoutube] The initial release will be available in English and Italian, with the ambition to include German, Spanish, French, and Portuguese in the months following the debut, thus coinciding with the console launch expected this summer. "Cannibal Tales - Episode 1" opens the doors to a narrative universe that will expand through a second episode in visual novel style (expected for winter 2024) and will conclude beautifully with a third episode, a 3D survival horror adventure that will test your courage and wits. Over the past few months, we have closely collaborated with the team at Troglobytes Games for the pre-production of this ambitious project. Our goal is to conclude development by 2025, but in the meantime, we are committed to keeping you informed with regular updates, news, and exclusive content through our social channels on Twitter and Discord. The imminent release of the first chapter of Ruggero Deodato's latest adventure promises strong emotions. Prepare your stomachs! For now, that's all. Greetings from your trusted Cannibal Team.
Hello Cannibal Lovers,
It's been a while since we've shared an update on our project.
As some of you might have noticed, we did not participate in the February Steam Next Fest. Despite being regularly registered, due to Steam's incorrect judgment on the sexual content within our game, we no longer met the requirements to participate in the Next Fest and were excluded.
We spent considerable time explaining to the Steam team that our game does not feature frequent sexual content and nudity, and we finally managed to have this tag removed by Steam. Now, the game can be found in searches even without disabling the filters for adult content. Let's celebrate!
Originally, we planned to release the game on Steam in early March, using the Next Fest as a showcase. However, since we did not participate, we decided to wait until the console versions were ready to launch on multiple platforms. We are currently working on the porting and aim to release the PC and console versions in early May. Funnily enough, May 7th is Ruggero Deodato's birthday, and we couldn't resist the opportunity to align our release with his special day.
On the localization front, we'll start with an English-only release. But don't worry; we're planning to add Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese versions shortly after.
We're also putting the finishing touches on our release trailer. Keep your eyes peeled for more details coming your way soon.
That's all for now!
Hello Cannibal Lovers!
First off, we want to extend a huge "Thank You!" to all of you who supported our game during the Storyteller's Festival. It was an extraordinary success, and with your support, we gathered over 1,000 wishlist adds during the event!
A special shoutout goes to the folks at TWO AND A HALF STUDIOS for giving us the chance to participate and for organizing such an amazing event. Their dedication and commitment to providing a space for indie games like ours do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for their hospitality.
For those of you who didn't get a chance to try out our new demo at the festival, we have exciting news: you'll have another opportunity at the Steam Next Fest starting today! Don't miss out on diving into the latest that we've prepared for you.
Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that we are hard at work on the game's launch trailer. We are eager to show you what we've been working on, and we promise that more information will be revealed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for future updates.
That's all for now,
Cannibal Team
Hello Cannibal Lover,
Here are the latest news on the development of Cannibal Tales.
We have decided to release each episode as a single Steam product. You can now search for the game on Steam as "Cannibal Tales - Episode 1".
What do you think of our new Steam capsule?
Alongside this change, we've made several improvements to the Cannibal Tales demo:
- Dialogue Text Update: We've refined the game's dialogue by correcting errors and adding narrator texts that provide more insights into the story.
- New Font: A fresh, more readable font to improve your reading experience.
- Audio Fixes: We've ironed out some audio issues for a smoother auditory experience.
- Text Skip Improvement: Speed up text composition by pressing a button, making it easier to follow the story at your own pace.
- UX Enhancements: Introducing new HUD elements for a more intuitive gameplay experience.
- Save Implementations: You can save your progress and return to your adventure anytime.
- Volume Control: Adjust the game volume to your liking in the settings menu.
- Controller Support: Enjoy the game with your favorite controller for more comfortable play.
Hello Cannibal Lover,
Here are the latest updates regarding our project:
The Storyteller's Festival: We are pleased to announce that Cannibal Tales will be participating in the Steam Storyteller's Festival, organized by Two and a Half Studios. The event will take place from January 29th to February 4th, and during this period, you will have the chance to try an updated version of our game's demo.
Translator Search: We are looking for a translator to localize Cannibal Tales from English to Japanese. If you know someone who might be interested, or if you are capable of providing this service yourself, please contact us. Your support is crucial in making our game accessible to a broader audience.
Adult Content on Steam: Unfortunately, we have not been able to convince Steam to change the classification of the adult content in our title. Therefore, to find and play Cannibal Tales, you will need to have the "Adult Only Sexual Content" option activated on Steam.
Development of Future Episodes: Finally, we are beginning to look for a partner to finance the development of episodes 2 and 3. Our goal is to complete them by the end of 2024, so we can conclude our saga by 2025.
Thank you for your ongoing support and interest in Cannibal Tales. Stay tuned for more updates!
That's all for now,
Cannibal Team.
Hello cannibal lover,
Welcome to our first devlog of 2024.
We wish to start by wishing you all a happy new year and hope that you have had a peaceful and joyous holiday season.
Let's begin by telling you that we are facing an issue with Steam.
Currently, our game is tagged as 'Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content'. This is due to a misassessment on our part of some of the game's content during the setup of the product page on Steam.
We are working to remove the adult-only classification. This tag prevents the game from appearing in the searches of users who have disabled the viewing of adult content games, causing us significant issues in terms of discoverability and wishlist additions.
We have attempted to censor the nudity scenes (Helena's breasts) in the public demo, but this was not sufficient for the Steam review team.
They argue that a significant portion of our game contains sexual content, especially since the first chapter takes place entirely in Helena's bedroom, where she and Paul are engaged in a sexual act at the beginning of the game.
However, our game does not feature any other sexually explicit content, and the storyline is mainly focused on the theme of cannibalism. Despite our efforts, we have not been able to change Steam's stance.
Furthermore, Steam has notified us that two out of eight screenshots from our game display sexual content. However, we are convinced that these images have been misunderstood.
Our next steps include removing the screenshots in question and replacing them with others that better represent the theme and atmosphere of the game. Following this, we will submit the full build of the game to Steam for review, to demonstrate that the main focus of the title is on different aspects from sexual content, mainly related to the theme of cannibalism.
We sincerely hope that this action will persuade the Steam review team to remove the 'Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content' tag from our game.
Regarding the game's development progress, as previously mentioned, all chapters have been completed. We are currently localizing the last four chapters into English. Afterward, we will focus on finalizing the savings systems, options, and credits. Our goal is to finalize these elements by the end of January.
We will participate in the Steam Next Fest in February with an updated version of the demo.
The official release of the game is scheduled for the end of February.
That's all for now. We'll talk again next week.
The Cannibal Team.
Hello cannibal lover, Final Devlog of 2023. We're thrilled to announce that we've completed the implementation of all the game scenes. Currently, we're focusing on refining the settings and saving features. Our goal is to wrap up development by January. We'll participate in the February Steam Next Fest with an exclusive, updated demo. Additionally, we're excited to share that the game's release is planned for the end of February. We've also updated the announcement trailer on our Steam page and altered the public demo by censoring sexually explicit content. This ensures the game is discoverable on Steam for users who haven't enabled the adult content options. You can check out the updated trailer here: [previewyoutube=kyhxSuZron8;full][/previewyoutube] The team wishes you happy holidays and extends our deepest thanks for all the support you've given us throughout the past year. We'll reconnect in 2024. See you soon, The Cannibal Team.

Hello cannibal lovers,
In this devlog, we'll shed some light on protagonists you've yet to meet in the demo, while ensuring we keep the story's twists under wraps.
Noah
At 30 years old, Noah carries the demeanor and innocence of a child. Shaped by traumatic family events, he's learned to minimize his presence, almost fading into the background. His thin stature symbolizes his vulnerability. Despite rarely showing an appetite, he has a soft spot for chocolate, a rare indulgence bringing him a fleeting sense of pleasure. His dynamic with the cannibal Price is an enigma that the game will unravel.
Price
A cannibal and a serial killer, Price has a horrifying tendency to feast on his victims while they're still alive. Although the police have been on his trail for years, he remains elusive. Masterfully, he lures his victims online, weaving relationships built on trust and dependency.
Maura
The nurse in the psychiatric institution where NOAH is confined. Driven purely by monetary gain, Maura is not one to be trusted.

Cannibal Team
Hello cannibal lovers,
Today, we're delving deeper into the characters that breathe life into our narrative. For this first look, we're spotlighting the individuals you've met within our demo:
Helena
A thirty-year-old American journalist, Helena works for a shock site named "Bloody Disgusting", think of something akin to 'Rotten'. Helena is trapped in a tumultuous relationship with her boss, Paul, who also owns the site. Their bond is rife with violence, with Helena being submissively ensnared in Paul's sinister web. Beyond their personal connection, Helena yearns for more - a stake in "Bloody Disgusting". She's hinted at this ambition to Paul, who, in his twisted manner, has agreed, but on one condition: an exclusive interview with Noah, an asylum inmate who miraculously survived a harrowing ordeal with the cannibalistic serial killer, Delgado. Paul is thirsty for the chilling details of Noah's survival tale.
Paul
A European-born entrepreneur and the mastermind behind "Bloody Disgusting", Paul revels in the site's macabre content. The means through which he acquires the gory content remains shadowed in mystery, often skirting the edges of legality. His demeanor is sadistic, and he revels in exercising dominion over others, particularly Helena, manipulating her with threats and cruelty to get what he desires.
A quick side note: Using the name "Bloody Disgusting" for the site is a homage by Ruggero Deodato to one of the most renowned and influential horror news websites globally. This reference was entrenched in Ruggero's original script.
Wrapping up with some quick reminders:
Come October, we're launching a closed beta! This will be your chance to preview fresh game content and experience an updated version shaped by your invaluable feedback. To partake, simply sign up for our mailing list here: https://subscribepage.io/KizWnG.

Hello everyone, We have an important announcement regarding our collaboration with Ruggero Deodato. Despite his unexpected passing 5 months ago, we have decided to continue the project in a new form: Cannibal Tales. As you may know, Ruggero was the main investor in our ongoing project, Borneo: a Jungle Nightmare. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds, the development has been halted. We have attempted to secure funding by pitching the project to publishers and private investors, but so far we have been unsuccessful. We do not have the necessary resources to complete the required vertical slice. Therefore, we have made the decision to change direction and return to the original idea of our collaboration with Ruggero Deodato. We will create a visual novel using the master's unpublished screenplay, and the project will be called Cannibal Tales. The story will be divided into three parts, with different protagonists whose stories are intricately intertwined, and the theme of cannibalism will always be present in various forms and aspects. Cannibal Tales will be a game consisting of three episodes: 1- The Interview 2- The Embalmer 3- Borneo: A Jungle Nightmare The project has sustainable development costs for our studio, and we plan to release the first episode by Winter 2023. Our hope is that the sales of the first two episodes will enable us to find the necessary funds to complete the third and final episode, "Borneo: a Jungle Nightmare," while maintaining the same artistic direction and gameplay that we were pursuing with Ruggero Deodato. In the coming months, we will provide more information about the project. Thank you for your support.
