Late Anniversary Patch - v3.0
It has been several years since I last updated The Forgotten Ones, I've been wanting to update the game for quite some time - thankfully I've had some extra time on my hands. The update mainly consist of various design changes, map optimizations, map merges, quality of life improvements, UI improvements, proper 4K support, and more!
Summary
- Optimized all the maps & various game settings
- Merged various maps to reduce overall loading time
- Removed note panel background
- Background will be blurred when the main menu, note panel, death panel, inventory panel & saving panel is active
- Torch flame will no longer disappear
- Improved Torch and Lantern lighting effect (increased range + no more flicker)
- Fixed up in a lot of jankiness in the maps, no more getting stuck on random physics objects
- Pickup animation sequence will no longer trigger for items you are not facing
- Pickup animation sequence will be disabled when using ironsights
- Improved Gregor encounter
- Improved door transition logic (better timing, fade in & fade out)
- Weapons and items will blink when you are nearby (in addition to the glow effect)
- Fixed a bug which would play excessive noises while in-air after jumping (when lowering your weapon)
- Fixed various animation and activity issues for Schienzel boss sequence
- Improved Schienzel boss sequence encounter
- You can no longer push back bosses, such as: Schienzel, Edward, Chef & Guardian
- Adjusted push back force
- Adjusted various weapon damage values
- Adjusted various NPC health & damage values
- Improved inventory panel
- Improved health & ammo HUD positioning
- Adjusted HUD to scale properly for ultra-wide resolutions
- Improved various GUI / HUD textures, made them less blurry
- Optimized file structure, removed unused files, etc
- Improved the loading screen panel
- Improved history resource HUD
- Improved death panel - no more weird background image
- Increased weapon & item pickup range / radius
- Updated loading tips
- Healthkit HUD will flash when you reach critical health levels (if you have a healthkit)
- Adjusted volume for various VO sound scripts, item pickup, etc
- Fixed game stutter / freezes when entering certain areas, when switching to new soundscapes
- Replaced 'Slender' achievement with 'Ritual Menace'
- MG42 will no longer get destroyed by explosives in the final map

- Added new animations for running and item pickup for certain weapons, added holster and bash animations for all the weapons.
- Removed melee weapons, you now use your weapon to bash instead. The bash feature will also knock the enemy away which will grant you some space in order to get away.
- You can now melee attack with the Torch and Lantern.
- Blood will splat when attacking ragdolls.
- You now get notified if you're carrying max ammo for the ammo type you're trying to pick up.
- Fixed a memory leak caused by FMOD.
- You can no longer escape to the main menu when you're in the inventory, credits view, note view or dialogue view. (ESC closes)
- Fixed up all the VGUI and HUD textures with ugly white borders.
- The Inventory and Note Panel now fades in/out when opened/closed.
- When the Credits Panel is active you can now click on ESC to return to the main menu right away.
- Added Film Grain, you can also change the intensity of the film grain.
- Removed Custom Story Support.

- Fixed a bug which would prevent Subtitles from working even if it was toggled in the options.

- Fixed a bug which would create instances of entities in previous maps into the next map when you transited, these entities were spawn/teleport points. If these points had the same target names as other entities in the new map it would create conflicts with these entities. For example being teleported to the wrong area when going back.
- The voice over when you enter the vehicle after the intro scene should no longer stop playing.
- Optimized some various parts near the hotel.
- When you go in the hut outside to pickup the lantern it will now spawn one enemy instead of two.
- Fixed a bug with the TNT's, if you had picked up a certain amount and died attempting to get them all it'd say that you still had that amount when you returned.
- You no longer hear random geiger/radiation sounds.
- Added a hint with the bookcase to help the player figure out how to open it.
- It is now easier to pickup the key from the chest.
- The dialogue with Schienzel has been shortened.
- Fixed missing specular map for the Chef boss.
- Removed some 'invisible' walls.
Mac and Linux issues
Please post anything else in the 'Bug Reports' section!
- The boss bar only displays the first character of the boss's name.
- The Chapter Title show off only displays the first character in the title string.
- Some of the subtitles doesn't show up for every voice over.
The future
It is over a year ago since TFO got on Steam, it received harsh critics mainly because it had PewDiePie references and it was rather hard. I intended to add more stuff in this update, time is not on my side unfortunately. The next version of TFO will most likely include the sequel, stay tuned for more.

I'm pleased to announce that many hair ripping issues has been fixed:
- Fixed Kitchen Cut Scene View/Dialogue Issue
- Raised Damage on the P38, MP40 & G43
- Fixed an issue with the FG-42, you couldn't pick it up/unlock it despite having the achievement necessary
- Removed bullet tracers while ironsighted
- Fixed the common crash many has experienced, the crash was caused by dropping inventory items.
- Hopefully fixed an issue preventing people to get to the main menu (on launch)
- Fixed an issue related to subtitles
- Some music and other generic sounds weren't affected by the music or game volume, this has now been fixed
- Changed the Stephano Collectible pickup sound
- Added a new easter egg in the Kitchen area... And NO, it's not a PewDiePie easter egg...
IMPORTANT:
