Simbro ResErection News (2024-09-24)

The results are in and our next update will be the Main Story Update! This update will focus on advancing the main story by updating the story intro, introducing the police and their interactions, adding a new floor with rooms (some of the location art might not be ready), finally adding the living cap, adding the reputation system, and generally making it feel more like a game. Our background artist will get to work on the backgrounds for the new rooms while the other artists start work on either new clothes or other appearance options. I look forward to finally advancing the plot and focusing on gameplay aspects.

Simbro ResErection News (2024-09-16)

Finally! I'm back with news for Simbro ResErection! Let's take some time to go over what's new and what's next to come. So, this update took a lot longer than expected. As mentioned before this was due to improving the game's performance and trying to fix/limit the number of silent crashes. In the end, I've doubled the performance on all platforms aside from Mac (Mac should still see some performance enhancements). This isn't without trade-offs. Due to the way the game is compiled, players will no longer receive error messages. This will likely result in a silent crash but I believe the performance enhancements are worth it. When will we get the update? As usual, other subscription-based platforms get updates 1 week earlier. So this update will be out in 7 days. This allows me to receive bug reports and apply patches before post it here. What was causing the silent crashes? I narrowed the silent crashes down to how the game was compiled and texture swaps. I've solved the compile issue and fixed some texture swap issues. The texture swap issues are a little more complicated to fix. Basically, when a character icon is made (contacts menu, stage plan, shop items, etc.) it creates a new texture sheet. the game needs to swap between these texture sheets to draw the icons on screen. This can cause older (or less powerful) computers to freeze up and close the game. What's the fix? To permanently fix the issue I would need to create assets for everything an icon contains. This means every hairstyle, face shape, clothing item, etc. would need its own unique asset for each type of icon in the game. As you can imagine, this is a lot of work and only adds to the workload whenever a new character customization option is added. This will be something I tackle in the future, but for now, I hope the previous fix will suffice. What's in the Update!!! I've already mentioned that the game now has multiple weapons and traits added along with unique attacks for every Class. I've spent a ton of time play-testing the game to ensure everything works as intended but I'll be surprised if I didn't eliminate all the bugs. Combat has seen a massive overhaul with the introduction of buffs and debuffs. In my opinion, this has made the game a lot more enjoyable. I'll admit that spec-ing the characters a certain way can break the combat and make you essentially invincible, but I think that is also what makes it fun. I'll go over the attacks and status effects below. Attacks Heal - Heals and removes debuffs (Nurse, Doctor, Assistant) Cheer - Buffs target increasing their damage and accuracy (Receptionist) Charm - Inflicts Charm Debuff (Gigolo, Whore) (More details below) Intoxicate - Inflicts Intoxicated Debuff (Bartender) (More details below) Protect - Redirects attacks from target to user (Guard) (More details below) Back Stab - An attack that ignores the defence status and always hits (Guaranteed Crit if the target isn't defending) (Butler, Maid) Grab - Restrains target forcing them to either struggle or stomp (More details below) Grab Mechanics So, we finally have some grab mechanics in the game. Unfortunately, I couldn't add animations or options for stripping or nasty things yet (due to the current model setup) but it does function for combat purposes. Characters that are being held now have two options, struggle, or stomp. Stomp has a chance to deal 1-3 damage to the assailant. If a character Struggles they will try to break free of the grab. If the character being held is charmed or intoxicated they will skip their turn. Characters currently holding another character can either Wait or Release the held character. Physical attacks on held characters always hit. Currently, poorly drawn icons are the only indicators for character grabbing or being held. Once the main model is updated to handle multiple characters of the same gender I'll have Thelawfulsock do proper animations. Weapon Types Blunt - Blunt weapons have a chance to stun characters that are not defending (more below) Pierce - Pierce weapons have a chance to act as a Back Stab attack (ignoring defence status or dealing a crit) Slash - Slash weapons have a chance to inflict Bleeding on characters that are not defending (more below) All weapon types have a 5% chance of activating their effect. Weapons have different damage, hit rate, and crit chance. You can see the weapons stats in the shop or inventory screen. Status Effects Stun - Prevents character from acting for two turns. If a stun character is hit they will no longer be stunned. Bleed - Characters will receive damage (1/10 of current health) at the beginning of their turn for two turns Charmed - Charmed characters will act as allies for two turns. If a charmed character is hit they will no longer be charmed. Intoxicated - Characters will act randomly attacking friends and foes for two turns. Protection - Redirects attacks. If the redirect target gets stunned, charmed, intoxicated or grabbed the protection gets removed I think that wraps up everything for combat. Like I said, I tried testing every scenario and buff debuff combo but I'm sure I missed something. Let's talk about Weapons! In this update, you can purchase weapons from the Shop. This is temporary until a weapon/armour shop is added to the game. Once the shop is added most weapons will be locked behind mission progression related to the shop owner. Also, the weapons stats will be adjusted as more feedback comes in. Where is the polish? You will notice that some attacks and status effects have no animation. My main aim was to get everything functioning and this update out. I know everyone has been patiently waiting and I'm sure everyone would rather I spend the time adding content they want. As things progress, I plan to polish these things on the side. Where do we go from here? With this last update out we are finally on to the second stage of development. This stage will consist of updates that add content and make the game more... game-like. Currently, things like living caps, runaway customers, tired brothel employees, and reputation gain, among other things haven't been added to make the game somewhat "enjoyable". In the coming months, I plan to fix these things while also holding polls (On other platforms) on what I work towards next. Simbro ResErection News (2024-06-24)

Wow! Time really flew by this last month. I'm back with some news from the field and some insight into the development of the game. Combat Update Progress So, first things first. I'm hard at work on the combat update. As you can imagine, updating the combat system for the game is no small task. I've been constantly adding new things to the combat system, testing, adjusting, and tasting again. It's been an enriching experience, to say the least. Right now, I have reworked a large chunk of the combat system. Currently, I've added things like critical hits, hit chance, healing, defending, and a rework to the turn order system. With all of these changes, there has been a lot of balancing needed along with advancements to enemy AI. I've also been working on how enemies spawn (The number of enemies and their levels) and adjusting how they pick their stats according to their class. As of writing this everything is working as expected, but it's only the tip of the iceberg. I still need to add all the special attacks for each class, new traits for combat, animations, and the ability to purchase weapons. When can you expect the next update? Well, as mentioned before, this combat update will need to be split into two updates due to how much is being added to the game. With that in mind, I do hope to have an update out next month. Upcoming Development Cycle With the last of the major systems being added to the game, Simbro ResErection will be starting a new development cycle! This means that how we work on the game and what content will be added will be drastically different from how we first started out. The main focus during this period is to get the game in a playable state while also adding content that will make each update more exciting. This means that in each update I will be working on things in the game like reputation gain, Gloryhole mechanics, security room mechanics, client actions (like leaving without paying), etc. With that said, I will be holding a poll each month for our Subscribers to vote on to determine what content will be added to the game while these things get worked on. What's coming? As you're reading this, SkullZombie is currently working on more weapons for the game. After sitting down and looking at what the original game had for weapons I realized that the original didn't have enough variety to make the combat exciting. So, I came up will a small list of weapons for SkullZombie to draw in order to give you more choices when it comes to weaponry. On the topic of new weapons, I will also be trying out a new system for weapons. The plan is to add damage types to weapons. These types will be Blunt, Slashing, and Piercing damage. What will damage types do you ask? Well, to put it simply, each damage type will have a chance to inflict a status effect or ignore buffs. I can't say too much yet, but you could imagine blunt weapons stunning an enemy, or slashing weapons causing a bleeding effect. I also hope that this will allow for more diversity in combat. On to Mamacita (Our amazing background artist). Mamacita is working on backgrounds for all of the rooms currently available in the game. These are the Master Bedroom, maid's Room, Security Room, Staff Room, and Dorm Room. Unlike the original, I want to utilize every room in the game for possible events, scenarios, and other things. I look forward to seeing what Mamacita comes up with. Why haven't you added X to the game yet? Now, I wanted to take some time to address some questions about why I haven't added certain features to the game. A lot of fans have asked about why certain things haven't been added and when or if we plan to add them. To give you a brief summary, most of these things are due to either the amount of time it takes to implement or technical limitations. I'll go over as many as possible below. Why haven't you added female-on-female action in the game? There are two main reasons for this not being implemented yet. The first has to do with how animations are done and the game. The second has to do with the content itself. Right now, Simbro ResErection relies on Spine animation. Spine is a software that allows users to assign bones to an image so they can manipulate it like you would a 3D model. Essentially you move the bones (which move an image) and record those actions to make an animation. This requires us to have models (or dolls) for each character we have in a scene. Currently, we have 1 male model and 1 female model in the animation file for the game. Each model has a set of skins that we can swap between to allow us to give the character a different look. Things like hairstyle and clothes are all skins we can apply to the model. A problem arises when it comes to adding a second female model. First, this means that any new changes to one female model needs to be replicated, essentially doubling the workload whenever we add new skins. The second comes when we consider upgrading the models. As you can see, this would add a lot of extra work when it comes to adjusting the models in any way. This extra work would prolong the release of updates whenever we add a new skin to the female model or adjust how the female model works. At this point in time, I can't afford to prolong the updates or hire a dedicated animator. Which is the main reason why this has been avoided. Let's talk about the content itself. I've heard plenty of people state that the whole reason anybody plays the game is for the female-on-female actions. This isn't something I can dispute, but it also is not something that I can't blindly agree with. I understand that plenty of people enjoy this content. I also understand that even if the majority agrees, we can't alienate the minority. For this reason, I've always planned to make female-on-female action a togglable option. We need to consider that things we might enjoy might not bring the same enjoyment to others. So when do I plan to add female-on-female action? Now that we've talked about the reasoning behind not adding female-on-female content I'd like to acknowledge that there will come a time when we need to add this feature regardless of workload. Currently, the folks over at Game Maker are working on implementing a new version of Spine compatibility. This new compatibility will allow the models to utilize the physics engine. This means that things like hair animation (among other things) will be removed from the workflow once we upgrade the models. My plan is to wait for that integration before making female-on-female content available as an option in upcoming polls. When will you add X skin colour/ Will we be able to change hairstyle colour? Another question that is asked a lot is about changing the colour of assets in-game. So let's dive into how assets are made and what's involved when it comes to changing the colour of assets. So, to start, each asset (Hair, Skin, Clothes, etc.) is typically made with a colour in mind. When we create a new asset in the game, we use references from the original Simbro to try and keep the aesthetic of the original game as close as possible. This has led to what we have today (Assets with a single colour). When changing the colour of an asset we have two options. The first is to make a separate asset that is a different colour. The second is to use the game engine to "colourize" (Add a colour on top to change its appearance) the assets. The current skin tone options are a good example of "colourizing" assets. Each body part has a colour added to darken the skin tone to give it a new appearance. Each solution has its own difficulties. First, adding another asset to the game for each possible colour variant creates a ton more texture pages. This isn't ideal due to Texture Page Swapping. I won't go into too much detail, but essential, the more texture pages we add, the slower the game gets. We want to avoid this because it can the game more demanding to run and may even prevent lower-spec systems from running the game. The second solution (colorization), also has its flaws. When we add a colour on top of an existing asset, we "tint" the entire image. This means that we can really only make the image darker and we also need to "tint" the highlights of the image which isn't ideal. A half solution is to create all the assets in a sort of greyscale. This would allow us to "tint" the image to almost any colour but also means that things like highlights would be almost non-existent. Honestly, I'm still working on how to best approach this. However, I believe that adding assets for each colour isn't a viable option. I also don't like the idea of sacrificing art quality just to add more options to the game. Ideally, I would like to separate the highlights from each asset and draw them on top, but the amount of work required to do so is astronomical. When do you plan to add colour options for these assets? I can't give a time frame for when this is added. It is something that I want to add in the future but is at the bottom of the priority list. I do plan to have skin tone options out for the male characters as a first step toward this goal, but again, can't give a date. Will we have an option to change body types for Male and Female characters? Another popular question. The short answer is yes. We do plan to add some sort of option to change body types. However, it's a ton of work and not viable for a while. Let's talk about what is involved in making a new body type. First, we need to make a new base model for the body type. This is probably the easiest as SkullZombie has a ton of experience with both drawing and Spine. The second is creating a new model in Spine. Again, this isn't too complicated. Our go-to animator Thelawfulsock is an expert in this field. The problems arise when it comes to animations and customization options. Each new body type means we need to make every animation in the game over again. Anything from combat animations to idle animations needs to be replicated for the new body type. We also need to add all available customization options as well. This means redrawing all clothes and sometimes hairstyles and facial features too. With all that work comes expenses. Right now I'm (TheGentleViking) the only full-time worker on this project. All of our other team members are freelancers who need to make a living doing paid work. So right now, we don't have the resources needed to put this out in a timely manner without postponing other content releases. When do you plan to include new body types? Again, I can't give any sort of time frame or date. What I can say is that it is being worked on when we have resources available.

Simbro News (2024-03-24)

Hello everyone! Sorry for the long silence. This month my entire household got sick (including me). I'm feeling good now, but work was slow on the game. Now, on to the News! Upcoming Update The next Simbro release will be at the end of the month for Patreon and SubscribeStar members and on the 7th of April for Steam members. I'm currently working on removing bugs and ensuring the new stats and mission system work. This release will see the mission system implemented and the stats, character creator, character editor, and plastic surgery menus updated to fit the design of the shop menu. I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of this new design. Next Vote (Monthly Subscribers) I will be posting a new vote here very soon. This vote will be unique because it will only have two choices. Some might be wondering why we haven't added more choices but, we will get into that later in the post. Whichever choice loses will be the update set for May. Coming Soon (June) So, we will soon be through what I consider the first step in developing Simbro ResErection. June will mark the second step in the game's development, at which time we will release what we plan to work on and what to expect. In this second leg of development, we hope to focus on making the game more enjoyable by adding Story and more gameplay. For those who support us monthly, we will release a new list of voting choices for the game in June. The majority of choices will focus more on adding playable content to the game but will still contain things like adding the other services to the Brothel (Bar, VIP Room, etc). v0.07 Update

Hey everyone! We have a new version of Simbro ResErection for you! Let's dive in. First, I want to talk about Classes. So, we have come up with some classes that work for both Male and Female MCs. Some of these classes have different names but are going to function the same. While doing the classes we decided to make each class follow a "classic" RPG. What we mean is we wanted to make a Tank, Attacker, Healer, etc. We figured this would be the best way to try and assign roles to each class in combat. One thing to note is that we haven't added the unique attacks to the combat system. This is due to our upcoming rework of the combat system. We didn't want to rework the current system only to do that work over when the Combat Update happens. We do have unique attacks ready, it's just not implemented. Next, let's talk about traits. So, in this update, we include a good amount of brothel-based traits. Each trait was designed to have a "counterpart" trait that does the opposite. We also tried making every trait have a positive and negative effect. We wanted to take people's focus off of obtaining the "best" trait and have everyone focus on how they are going to use traits. Right now, the majority of the traits are fully functional. With that said, their are some traits that deal with clients leaving without paying that doesn't work yet. We hope to add this to the game soon. So, what about non-brothel-based traits? Well, we've decided that we will add those traits alongside updates that are more related to those traits. This means that once we do the Combat Update, we plan to add a bunch of traits that focus on combat. Once we add the next floor that allows you to build bars and VIP rooms, we will add traits that relate to those as well. This also goes for gained traits. On the topic of traits. We are currently working on a way for characters to gain more traits. Right now we plan to have characters gain "trait points" every 5 or 10 levels. This will allow you to spend trait points to gain new traits! This is still a work in progress, but we hope it's something that adds to the game. Last but not least is compatibility with old saves. So, those who would like to continue an old save but don't want to miss out on giving their MC a trait don't need to worry. We added a way for you to pick a trait for any character that doesn't already have one. Just open the stat screen and you should notice a button by the traits category. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do this with Classes, yet. Due to how classes work and how we assign class stats, we will need a little longer to implement a way to change your MCs Class on older saves. Next Update & News (2024-01-23)

Hey, Everyone! We've got some info on the next update along with a release date and some general news. Next Update Info Now to talk about the Class & Traits Update. This update is pretty straightforward. We will be adding base classes to the character creation screen. Each class will have base stats and one or two unique attacks. On top of that, we will also be incorporating the new traits system. The new traits system will give characters unique bonuses for different jobs. Some characters might have traits that make them suitable for combat, while others might be considered lovers and not fighters. We hope this gives each character a unique "feel" regarding how you manage them. Events & Gameplay Part 2 Release I've been hard at work getting part 2 done for the (Steam) release on the 6th of next month (9:00 pm EST). The reason the shop was put into part two is because of how I designed it. Unlike the original, the shop will not be text-based. Instead, we've opted for a more visual approach. This will make translation much easier and also allow you to see the items you're buying while you browse the shop. The idea is to use this design in the character creation, Inventory, Plastic Surgery, and Character Editor. Let's talk about changes. So, I've decided that clothes will no longer give stat boosts. This is something that I've been toying with since day one and I believe it will make the game less complicated and more enjoyable. I dislike the idea of choosing between aesthetics and stats. Aside from the shop, we've also reworked the shower and staff room and made a ton of bug fixes. We are still working on some more minor bugs, but the amount of game-breaking bugs has reduced significantly. Why the 6th of next month? Technically, the update will be out on the 30th of this month. However, due to how we monetize the game outside of Steam, we always release Steam versions 1 week later. Although this hasn't been a problem until now, we wanted to let you know because this pushes the release for Steam users to next month. Animation News (Not Good) Last news update I talked about how we had found an animator to do hand-drawn animations for "those" scenes. Unfortunately, that individual has disappeared. We've messaged them on Discord and on the site we originally recruited them from and haven't received a reply. This wouldn't be too concerning, but they've now blocked us on Discord. Although this news is disheartening, we won't let it deter us from finding another animator. So, moving forward we will focus on adding "those" scenes differently until we find someone. We know everyone has been asking for "those" scenes and we will try to add them sooner rather than later. Even if that means we will need to redo the work once we have proper animations. Simbro News 2024-01-08

It is the first Simbro News of 2024! It's time to update everyone on what's going on and what's next! Next Update/Programming So, let's get into the first topic. As mentioned, we will continue the second part of the Gameplay/Events Update. The second part of the update will have the shop finally added to the game. This will allow you to buy clothes for all of your characters. We will also be working on some gameplay for the game. First will be how showers and staff rooms function in the game. Showers and Staff Rooms will now have a "capacity" starting at 400 points. At the end of each day, these 400 points will be divided among you and your staff. This means that 1 shower can bring 4 characters from 0 to 100 hygiene every day. As you add staff you may need to add more rooms to increase the "capacity". We will also be working on some more bug fixes that have caused everyone trouble. Character Art Both of our artists are hard at work on more outfits for the game. Currently, they are working on getting more underwear for the female models. We're hoping to have these out as soon as possible, but we can't promise they will be out in the next update. Animation So, as promised, we're currently working to get animations for climax scenes. We are currently working with an artist to get the first climax animation done. So far, everything is looking good, but we will keep everyone updated. We will be working on more "naughty" scenes for the characters. These scenes will be for specific areas of the game, so we're unsure when they will be added due to how precise we want them to be. Background Art Mamacita will be working on the background art for the second floor. This includes the VIP lounge, Bar, Stage, and other backgrounds for rooms in that area. Happy New Year everyone! It's been a wonderful year for me and the team and we want to thank every one of you for making it such an incredible year. I had an eventful. I've had family in the hospital, quit my job to focus on programming, and even started learning new things to improve myself and the things I make. I look forward to what 2024 has to offer and I can't wait to see what it brings. So, I want to talk a little bit about my goals for the new year. First, I'd like to give everyone a bi-weekly update on the game development. Most of you know that these sorts of posts are seemingly at random. However, this year, I'd like to take the time to keep everyone properly informed on how things are progressing. This may take time but it will be something I'm actively working on. The second goal for this year is to get a writer, translators, and animator (to do the stuff Thelawfulsock can't) on the team. We've been looking for many of these positions for a while with little luck. With that said, I believe that we will find the right individuals this year. My last goal is to get the game's base systems and mechanics complete. You may have noticed that none of our updates have focused on the main story or character story (Looking at you Alice). This is due to our systems and mechanics not being fleshed out and complete. We want to ensure that when we add these stories, we won't need to revisit them to implement features or rework them. Once we have all of the mechanics and systems in place we will be able to focus on just adding content, and that's our main goal for 2024. Before I end this post, I'd like to take some time to address some negativity. First, I'd like to make it clear that I'm not the original developer of the old SimBro game and have never been a part of the development of the old SimBro Game. Myself and my team have been taking flak for mistakes made by the developers of the old SimBro team. For the most part, we understand and are happy to clear things up if the misinformed person is civil. With that said, we will not tolerate people posting hateful and defaming comments about us or the game due to this misunderstanding. We are happy to receive constructive criticism about our games and how we develop them and encourage people to do so. Let's try to keep this community positive or at least civil for everyone's sake. We want to apologize to some as we did not clarify our time zone (Eastern Time Canada) and that has upset some of you who are already through the new year. It's time for an update from the field! So, as many of you know, we are currently working on the first part of the Events & Gameplay Update. As mentioned before, this update will be done in parts due to its large size. We don't have an exact release date for the next update, but we can guarantee it will be out before the new year. What to Expect in Events & Gameplay Update Part 1 We've been working hard on getting systems cleaned up and workflows refined. Part of this was making one unified model for the characters in-game. Previously, we were using 3 different "models" for the gameone for the females, one for the males, and one for the male and female scenes. In the upcoming update, we will be merging the models into one unified project. This will help with animations, clothes, and anything regarding the look and feel of models. This will hopefully speed up the process of fixing models and making animations. Finally, some bust options! You've heard right, we will now have 4 different bust sizes for female characters! Skull Zombie and Rivrina have been hard at work adding the assets needed for this amazing update. This will allow girls encountered in the wild to have different assets that may titillate your fancy. So, what about the girls you've hired already? Shouldn't they get a chance to enhance their assets? Well, we have good news! The hospital will now be fully functional! No more are the days when you need to return home to heal your wounds. No more are the days where you're stuck with a fugly worker. Now, you'll be given an option when you get beaten in a fight. You can either pay a fee to get healed at the hospital or you can rest at the brothel and lose a day. You will also be able to visit the hospital to get plastic surgery for your workers (for a price). Next, let's talk about events and gameplay. In this update, we will be adding debt collector visits, police visits, worker visits (extracurriculars), and shower events. On top of that, you will also be able to visit the local bar for refreshments or to pick up ladies. With all of this added, we hope the game will feel more lively than ever. Here are some other things you will see in the next update. - From this update on, you will no longer be able to go without sleep and businesses will no longer be open 24/7. - You will now be able to change the time format in the settings menu to 24-hour format. - When hiring workers after certain scenes, you will now be able to view their stats before you make your final decision. - You will now be able to summon staff to your cabinet. - A large portion of the text for the Russian translation has been done by fan/supporter/Giga Chad K14M - New Animations for the female Model - More outfits and hairstyles for both males and females - Lots of other stuff my dumb brain can't remember - A ton of code optimization Outro Like always, we want to thank you for your support and patience. Simbro ResErection V0.05 + Next Update News

Hey Everyone! Sorry for the long wait. We had our dates mixed up, hence the two-day delay. (We thought the sixth would fall in the first week of this month) We've finally got the next version out! Let me take some time to go over a few things. Data Management We've cleaned up a bunch of loose files in the folder. Things shouldn't be as messy. We've also tried to add some structure to the folder for people looking to translate the game for themselves. Translations So, this version now has an option for language. Right now things aren't pretty. We don't have full translations and the translations we do have are machine translated. On top of that, the GUI doesn't look great with some translations (due to the length of the text). This is something we plan to work on bit by bit. For those who want to fiddle around with translating the game, you can find all the files in the game folder. We are using a .csv file for everything outside of dialogue. All dialogue is in .json files. You can use any spreadsheet program for the .csv. The .json files can be opened with almost any text editor like Notepad. If you plan to edit any of these, please make a copy beforehand. Issues You'll notice that the female model has some minor issues. some are with clothes and others are with hair. We're working on fixing these. Language settings aren't saving right now. We are also working on this. Next Update Info Now to talk about the Events and Gameplay Update. So as everyone knows, this update will be a little bigger considering we're adding the shop along with some events and QOL improvements. So, this time around, we plan to release the update in chunks. This will allow you to get more content sooner and will let us focus on specific things during each chunk. We know gameplay is severely lacking and you to be able to enjoy the new gameplay as soon as possible. Outro That's about it for now. We can't wait to get this update out! Greeting everyone! We're back with some news from the field! Next Update To start things off, we are almost done with the next update! We still need to add some stuff, but the update will be out before the end of the month. As promised, this update will give you the ability to choose a female MC. We've also overhauled the character creation code to make it easier to add clothing items and appearance options in the future. On top of the code, we've also added a zoom option for the character display part of the screen. Along with those additions, we've also added a new cheat option to edit staff stats and appearances. Right now, we're finishing up the translation part of the update and we plan to include a guide for those who wish to translate the game themselves. Character Art Skull Zombie and Rivrina are hard at work on getting more assets ready. Right now, Skull Zombie is working on Underwear assets for the female models while Rivrina is working on the breast-size assets for previously made clothes. Once the breast-size assets are finished, we will include them in the game ASAP. Background Art Mamacita is hard at work on the next background which will introduce another service to the brothel. Once Mamacita has finished that, I'll have them move on to do all the backgrounds for the second floor. Animations Thelawfulsock is working hard on some more "naughty" animations. We initially planned to get all of the female animations done before we started on those, but we realized that the game needed more variety. I can't wait to show off all the hard work that Thelawfulsock has put into these. In other animation news, we are still looking for an animator for the climax scenes. I know this has been something that has sorely been missing and we're working hard to find someone that can not only do the work but also do it reliably. Programming As mentioned above, everything is going great programming-wise. With only a translation code and a couple of QoL additions left to do I'm almost ready to send out the next update. New Patch + Next Update (2023-09-27)

Next Update Our next update will be the Female MC update! As mentioned before, this update will allow you to choose a female MC at the start of the game. Having a Female MC will allow you to take on clients yourself and will also let you offer yourself to thugs in the slums. We've also decided to update the cheat menu in-game (not available in the demo version). This won't be a big update to the cheat menu, but it will allow you to edit character stats and also give you a couple more options in the cheat menu. On top of the Female MC and cheat menu, we also plan to finish up the translation system for the game. This new system will allow you to switch languages in the settings menu to change the dialogue and UI text in-game. We're also designing it so people can add translations by editing the included text or spreadsheet files. New Patch Coming Today! We will have a new patch out soon (later today). This patch addresses some of the bugs introduced in the last update and also improves texture page swapping which should reduce crashes. We've also added a couple of new appearance options for female characters. Patch Notes are included below. Other Stuff Currently, we are working on adding different breast sizes for female NPCs. We only have a couple more outfits to adjust before it's included in an upcoming update.

We are also working on getting another animator for the "Money Shot" Scenes. These animations need to be hand-drawn in order to get the right "feel". An update to regular character animations is also in the works. Right now we are focusing on female NPCs. Once that is finished, we will move on to more scenes involving both the male and female NPCs before we start work on the updated animations for Males. Simbro ResErection Update v0.04

We're back with a new update! Before we get started, please note that older saves will be buggy due to the amount of new stuff. We suggest starting a new game for a better experience. If you just want to see what's new, scroll to the bottom to check out the changelog. We'll have more news in the coming weeks about what everyone is working on and the next update so stay tuned. We've been working hard on the brothel update these past weeks. The system has been completely revamped and remade to make the game more enjoyable and scalable. On top of that, we've been adding more options for the female characters' appearance. Most of this was pretty easy, but some of it required some animation tweaking. We added a bunch of QoL improvements and so much more. So, this update wasn't as straightforward as I thought it was going to be. As soon as I started I realized that I had to update a lot more than just the Brothel System. Mainly it was how characters replenished mood and hygiene and how time advancement works. I've had to completely revamp how time passes to ensure that the receptionist could assign workers properly. On top of that, I needed to add functionality to the showers, staffroom, and maid room. Time to talk about the Brothel system. We've made some drastic changes to how prices are decided and how clients and workers are satisfied. Unlike the original, this Brothel System tries to take everything into account. Things like client job, mood, hygiene, wealth, and requests all affect the price and worker satisfaction. Things like the number of requests the worker fulfills and the worker's mood and hygiene have an effect on the client's satisfaction. All of these things will hopefully make the game more diverse and enjoyable. We will still need to tweak things as time passes but that's to be expected. Next is the receptionist system. As mentioned before, this update will allow you to assign a receptionist to handle assigning workers. You'll be able to tell the receptionist to prioritize different things when assigning clients to workers. Right now you'll have 3 options, Lowest level, Money, and Satisfaction. Lowest Level will prioritize assigning clients to workers with the lowest levels first. This will allow you to get lower-level characters levels up faster, allowing you to earn more money in the long run. Money will prioritize how much is made over anything else. This will typically assign high-level characters first. Satisfaction prioritizes the client's needs/requests. We plan to add more options in the future but this should do for now. Finally, I want to talk about things that we will still need to add to the brothel system in future updates. First is traits. We've added (and removed) some traits. Currently, these traits do nothing due to the time constraint I've set for myself. However, we do have plans to make traits a big part of the game (more about that in a later update). Second, is refining client stats and jobs. Right now, clients have different jobs which affect their base stats. We want to refine the job names to better suit the setting of the game and also add more variety. Third, is room quality and themes. At this point, room quality isn't part of the satisfaction or price formula. Once we do the Stage Plan update we hope to remedy this. Last but not least is reputation gain and security. This update won't have clients running away and the reputation gain is simple. We do plan to fix this once we have more systems in place. Everyone on the SBR Team has been putting their best effort into making this a game to be proud of. We see your enthusiasm and support and it motivates us. We have big plans and seeing them come to fruition is one of the best feelings ever. We can't wait to hear your feedback! Simbro ResErection Next Update (2023-07-25)

Our next update is (drum roll)... THE BROTHEL UPDATE!!! So, with our next update decided and in the works. I want to go over what you can expect in the next update and some of the mechanics. As most of you know, this update will have a big focus on client and worker relations. It will also focus on the receptionist and her ability to assign work. What we didn't mention before is the update to worker Traits and other changes. So let's dive into it.

Worker and Client Relations


Worker and Client relations will be more complex. This will largely depend on worker traits and the stats of both the clients and workers. Stats like hygiene and mood will play a bigger part in the price clients will pay and how happy the girls are with the clients. Clients with low moods and hygiene are more likely to be disliked by the workers. At the same time, workers with low hygiene and mood will fetch a lower price with clients. Traits will also play a role in worker likes and dislikes but more about that later.

Client generation and jobs


One big rework or overhaul will be Client generation and jobs. Clients will now have unique appearances. Along with appearances, Clients will have unique jobs which will decide the range of their stats and the chance of trying to leave without paying. For example, Clients with a politician job will have better hygiene and wealth compared to a thug. Getting better Clients will rely on your reputation.

Client Requests


Client requests will also be a feature added in the next update. These requests will be limited at first (Until we add more clothes, traits, and other things), but they will play a big part in client satisfaction.

Setting Prices and Bonuses


Setting prices and bonuses was a big mechanic in the original. We want to try and rework this mechanic to make it clearer to the player how prices affect the clients and how bonuses affect the workers. The original had you set a price and sort of barter with the client. Setting the price too high would lower the client's mood and they would refuse your offer. We want to change this. Instead, we want to incorporate a satisfaction meter. This meter will be affected by the requests fulfilled, price set, and workers assigned to the client. Clients won't be able to refuse your offers, but dissatisfied customers will lower your reputation and may lead to other consequences. Likewise, we want to give the workers the same satisfaction meter. Their meter will be affected by the client's stats and bonus set. Keeping your workers satisfied will reduce mood and stamina loss.

Worker Traits


Although traits are part of a bigger update, we feel it's best to include some traits that will affect the brothel's business. We've come up with 16 traits to include in the new update. These traits can affect the worker's stamina, client's satisfaction, experience gained, and worker's feelings towards clients. Some of these traits are better than others and will appear less frequently. We have plans to allow you to influence traits and even remove them, but that will be in a different update.

Receptionist


Another big part of this update is the receptionist. In the original game, you needed to upgrade the brothel to assign a receptionist. This is still something we will do in the future, but until we do the Stage Plan Update, we will be letting you assign a receptionist from the start. Just like the original, the receptionist will be tasked with assigning workers to clients while you're not around. Unlike the original, you'll be able to dictate the receptionist's priorities. You'll be able to have the receptionist focus on gaining money, reputation, brothel security, worker happiness, or experience points. This will hopefully reduce the amount of work it takes to manage the brothel and staff.

How's it going? It's time for your monthly News report! We've had a ton going on these past couple of weeks. We're seeing an influx in support (Hi everyone) and we've released Early Access on Steam! It's been crazy and honestly, it's only just started. Let's get into it.

Character Art As you can see, SkullZombie has been pumping out art. Our goal for the next update is to give the female characters a more defined look. Right now, SkullZombie is working on more accessories and head shapes. I can't wait to see the randomly generated girls in the game. Hair and Clothing Art The polls have been closed and we have a winner for the outfit poll. I'm excited to announce that the Maid outfit will be in the next update! Honestly, it was close with the plaid skirt and dress shirt outfit only losing by 2 votes. I'll have Rivrina work on the outfit asap and if we have time, we may just add the plaid skirt and dress shirt outfit too (No promises).
Background Art Mamacita nailed it again! We've got the bank bathroom ready and in-game! Next, Mamacita will be working on the manager's office background for the bank. After that, Mamacit will continue working on rooms for the Brothel. Animations I've been busy fixing up the female model in preparation for the new animations. I'll finally be sending it over to Thelawfulsock to get the animations done. I'm hoping to get the shower animations done in time for the next update. Programming This last update was a doozy. I had to rework the save system again due to compatibility issues with Steam and moving saves from one pc to another. I also had some trouble with the remapping system, but it is done and you can now access all menus (aside from the save menu) with hotkeys! Outro As I said, it's been a crazy week. We are honestly in disbelief that we not only have a game on Steam but also have your support. The future is looking bright and we can't wait to see what it holds.
