Happy New Year, and I hope your first days of this year has been good and will continue to be! Last year many great things happened behind the scenes for Big Boy Boxing & Soupmasters, however that also means that we couldn't share and be as active sharing the development progress of the game. That will change this year, not only are we going to post updates and leaks more regularly, but we'll also include the existing community in playtesting (and some other fun stuff I wont officially announce yet steamhappy). I'll refrain from a announcing an exact date on when that'll begin, but one thing I can say is that we've got plans to keep the community busy basiclly for the entierty of the year! Yo! Up till now we've disregarded Soupmaster Games visual branding as we've put all that visual juice into Big Boy Boxing's character animation. But I think it's good for Soupmaster to get a little of that visual love so we made our best attempt at a logo and icon for the studio! This design is in no way endgame and we will be upgrading it or straight out reworking it in the future. But as for now I believe it will work fine! Let me know if you like this design!

I hope everybody has had a great New Year's Break (I certainly had steamhappy). I'm really looking forward to this year because I've got some really big Big Boy Boxing stuff to show you guys! We've been working on a variety of different characters and stages, and you can check out some of them in this Twitter post (also please follow and share my content on Twitter) steamthumbsup TWITTER LINK steamthumbsup Other than that, we've also been polishing some new core gameplay mechanics that have to do with movement fluidity, character progression, and personalization. Alongside this, we are structuring the project so that practically all parts of the game are accessible for modding. Freezy Boy's transformation animations have been quite time demanding to make, but we are happy with the results.
Also been tinkering with new Dialogue Systems and new dialogues for the characters. Here you see B.F.T (Blunt Force Trauma) teasing Coach Hank!
We are certain that we want some kind of player upgrade progression, but the details are not finilized. Either way the backend system is mostly finished for this.
The Slow Motion Ability will be activated at the cost of thunder, this will make you double the speed (in relation to the boss). We are also working on a perk that gives you a brief slow-motion after a perfect parry.
Added a healing ability, it's got a few seconds charge time so you really need to stun your opponent before you can safely use it.
We've added the mandatory feature to pet the dog.

I've been asked by a few different people about how our animation process for Big Boy Boxing is like, and although I don't think we are doing anything very different I'll still share how our current process generally looks like!
coindlc First, we make a design for the character. There is a lot of back and forth here, and we never stress completing a design. Instead, we let ideas grow naturally into designs.
coindlc Then we make animatics for the character, that convey their motion very broadly. Already in this stage, we put these assets into the Game Engine and start doing internal testing for the game feel.
coindlc After that, we will make keyframes at roughly 6FPS. Sometimes we actually remove details in the design to make it more "animation friendly", however in this particular case with Freezy Boy, we did not need to remove anything.
Example below of "animation friendly" implementation, buttons and certain lines are removed when animating.
coindlc Finally, we will manually extend the animations into 24FPS, this is the point of no return, so any alteration to the design needs to be done before this step!
coindlc That is about it! In the future, I could make another devlog that goes a bit more in-depth into our process, and also show off some of our custom development tools!
