GUESS WHAT?
It was our birthday on the 20th, and now it's our big update day, which means it's time for a SPECIAL birthday-themed patch notes! You can just leave all your gifts in the corner over there. Also, take one of these party poppers, and you can set it off at the end: Let's start with the new things!
New things
- You can now do good for the environment with the new RECYCLER! Do not put Spirits in the Recycler.
- JUICE! You can make juice now!
- A small greenhouse that doesn't take up as much room
- Four new Spirits, including TWO crossovers, and one that's shaped like... a hand? Wait, don't we already have a hand Spirit...?
- New DLC: Autumn Accessories!
- New decor (check the update post on Steam for a full list!)
- NEW BARN EXTERIOR! It's the first time we're doing this!!!!
- We heard you like water, so we put some water in your water. Bottles now contain 10x water, for easier cooking!
- Did one of your tools go missing? We added some new code that will restore your lost tools! Just pretend the tool fairies found it for you
- Paolo invented stepladders, which means it's now easier to place objects higher up on walls
- Increased tab size in settings menu for all platforms
- Updated exhaust icon on cards to look more like a bin, because "bin" is a better indicator of exhaust than a red arrow
Bug Fixes
- You can't put warp totems (and other special items) in chests anymore
- Moved the white selection box behind the item quantity number in inventory/crafting screens for better readability
- You can now split stacks in the bottom inventory row
- Fish icons are now displayed properly in crafting recipes
- Optimized collision masks in NPC hobby animations (so you can bump into them better)
- You can no longer click/touch items on the inventory bar when the UI is hidden
- When you're looking at lures in your toolbar, it doesn't say "Equip" any more (since you can only do this from your inventory, not the toolbar)
- Mouse cursor now changes to a little hand when hovering over items that can be picked up
- You can't feed Spirits Old Boots anymore
- We fixed the Wine and Beer items, and they should actually have an effect on stamina now! This also fixes the "She Did Warn You" achievement and the Dish of the Day bug
- The "Water" icon is now slightly different, so it doesn't look like a potion
- YOU CAN'T EAT YOUR BROOM ANYMORE
- Placing objects on tables is now a bit easier
- Ferra's date responses in German were backwards, so we fixed that (turns out she was using Duolingo upside-down)
- Selling seeds to Gaiana and Ofelia now has the text "Sell Seeds" instead of just "Sell"
- Fixed the Holo Potion it was disabling after *any* Spirit tame, not just Holo Spirit tames
Happy Autumn, Alchemists! September is nearly over, and that means it's almost Scary Month, but there's nothing scary about the FREE UPDATE we're launching today! Well, that might not be true. Those of a delicate disposition may find some of our new Spirits a bit creepy, depending on how you feel about things like disembodied hands (oooh) and dogs (aaaah). We cannot be held responsible for any heart attacks you receive from playing Moonstone Island. I think. [previewyoutube=cQwadM8scqI;full][/previewyoutube] Let's take a look at all the tasty new content we're adding today:
- 4 new spirits - These new babies are Psychic, Dark, Electric, and Ice type
- 3 new seasonal events - The Spirit Spring Festival, the Lunar Festival, and a Cooking Festival
- New Community Chest in Rowans shop - You can find free stuff and gifts in here!
- New token of affection item - A reward from the festivals that gives you relationship points with an NPC of your choosing
- New spirit barn exteriors - For the first time EVER!
- Updated furniture placement system to allow items to sit more snugly against walls - Because it's annoying when decor looks all weirdy
- New NPC dialogue - Many words, much like these ones, all written by ME
- New decorations - See below!
- Farm-Style Spirit Barn Exterior
- Spirit Barn Portal
- Full Moon Statue
- Ancient Spirit Statue
- Fireworks Rug
- Food Festival Trophy
- Pile of Leaves
- Mushroom Stool
- Mushroom Table
There is also our Autumnal Accessories DLC, which costs $3.99 (with a 10% launch discount for the first week) and it comes with:
- Mushroom Spirit Barn
- Autumnal Archway
- Electricone Rug
- Leaf Stool
- Ghostshroom lamp
- Ghostshroom Rug
*insert fanfare here* Get out the birthday candles, because Moonstone Island is ONE YEAR OLD! Well, I guess that's just a singular birthday candle, but still. It's been a whole year since our launch, and we can hardly believe it we've had so much happen in those last 12 months. So many updates and DLCs! So much love and fanart from the community! So many new Spirits, items, cards, and things to do! And, of course, SOOOO MANY BUG FIXES. In celebration of our anniversabirthday, we're releasing an even bigger update than normal on September 30th: [previewyoutube=sRo27p4fLiA;full][/previewyoutube] THE FESTIVALS UPDATE! You've been asking for events, and you're getting them! This free update will add new seasonal festivals, new dialog, new Spirits, and maybe even a new character to meet. But that's not all! We're also doing our last paid DLC of 2024: Autumnal Accessories DLC! As you can probably guess, Autumn Accessories are all about the colors of fall. It comes with lots of decor to make your place look as autumnal as possible, which will go nicely with last year's Halloween decor, or even the Christmastime turkey (you can pretend it's Thanksgiving)! We'll have more details to share later, so make sure you're on our Discord and our newsletter. All the best jokes are in there. All the worst jokes are here on Steam, obviously. https://discord.com/invite/moonstoneisland https://www.moonstoneisland.com/#newsletter Kate, community manager, and Chief Anniversabirthday Celebrator
If my calculations are correct (they probably aren't), then this is our 20th patch notes! Wow. We're almost old enough to drink in the US. Or something. Anyway, just two things today:
- The invisible Spirits bug has been fixed! Make sure to update your game, and your Spirits will go from being nonexistent to being very, very existent. Yay!!!
- Ossono's Dish of the Day, as well as the wine and beer from the Tavern, weren't actually having any effect on stamina. This prevented people from getting the "She Did Warn You" achievement. But it's fixed now, which means you can eat all the terrible food you want! I hope you all pass out! Yay!!!
Hello, friends! Good news: I just got wisdom tooth surgery! Wait, no, that's not the good news. The good news is they let me keep my teeth! And I put them under my pillow, just in case, and instead of money, the tooth fairy left me some patch notes! Isn't that weird?
- Best patch first: The Spirit Barn lag should be fixed now! We optimised some stuff, so it should run nice and smooth now
- Chests no longer wiggle! I'm kinda sad about this one because it was super cute
- Fixed a little cheat where you could use the keyboard and mouse to select one item in a shop with the mouse, and pay for a separate one using the keyboard, but it would use the price of the keyboard one. That's a thing called stealing and we won't stand for it!
- Fixed the text for Comfy Chair and Bulletin Board (the materials text was getting cut off)
- Fixed the Spanish translation of "Spirit Research: Intro to Egg"
- Giving Magic Man mirror shards outside his hut used to result in him putting them in his pocket and forgetting about them. He now remembers to actually put them in the mirror
- You can now use the Spirit Storage machine from within the Spirit Barn, so you can bring out new Spirits whenever you want. And it won't lag! Because we fixed that!!!
- The balloon was flying WAY too fast in the dungeons. We fixed it. Apologies, speedrunners
- Optimised the end of day process to reduce lag you can now go to sleep much faster! Someone put this fix in real life pls
- Fixed a bug where characters would remain semi-transparent if the player left the building before they fully materialised. Ferra is not supposed to be a ghost
Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to the first episode of Patch Notes Kitchen, with me, Kate I mean, Moonstonio McChefhat, famous TV cooking guy! Today we're making a tasty three-course meal: a Bugfixes Souffl, followed by a hearty Marinated Content Steak served with Baby New Spirits, and for dessert, DLC! Which stands for Delicious Layer Cake, obviously. The first step in this recipe is to add the following to your game:
New Content
- The ability to COOK!
- New crafting stations (prep table, stove, recipe book)
- Dozens of meals with unique effects
- New cooking questline (given by Ossono on Spring 16 or a few days after updating for in-progress games)
- New LORE
- New cooking-themed decorations
- Four new spirits: Eleplant (water), Jelbell (psychic), Grampus (ice), and Fangface (dark)
- New NPC likes/dislikes (spoiler: they're all meals)
Bugfixes
- Did you use a broom/fishing rod/warp whistle near a shrine or a warpstone, and accidentally activate it instead of using the item? Not any more! We fixed it
- Used the correct font for the "purchased" text in other languages
- You can no longer feed Spirits old boots. Also, don't do that! Ew!
- Increased the size of the white circle shown when activating the Ando tree, because you cool dudes with ultra-wide monitors weren't getting the full effect
- Magic Man's house was appearing underneath the swimming pool. He's mysterious and strange, but not THAT mysterious and strange, so we changed that
- You can no longer feed Spirits multiple stat reset potions to cause them to gain points somehow. I'm continually impressed by all these cheats but we must fix them, sorry
- You can no longer feed fish to Spirits in battles. Apparently Fishbo assumed it was a mean intimidation tactic and he got really upset
- Tobin bought some glow-in-the-dark paint online, and now the fishing bobber lights up at night for easier fishing
- Restored Magic Man's missing dialogues he's meant to say stuff after you pick up the temple seals!
- You can no longer steal Zed's museum of Spirit resources. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU INVENTED STEALING ON A PEACEFUL ISLAND. You monsters.
- You can't place furniture in other people's houses and workplaces any more. I mean, I know Quill's taste in decor is very "guy who owns a single armchair and a PlayStation 5", but he has to learn that on his own, k?
- Bakery House Skin
- Donut Rug
- Cloche
- Pot Rack
- Marble Counter
- Marble Counter with Sink
AHHH YOU GUYYYYSSSS THIS IS A REALLY EXCITING ONE!!!
First off, the free content update, which I've been VERY excited about: we added cooking to the game!!!! You can create dishes in your new kitchen, complete cooking-related quests, and discover the characters' favorite dishes. Finally, you can have an actual functioning kitchen-zone! Isn't that cool? I think it's cool.
There are over 80 recipes to discover, some with incredible effects, and new ingredients made with crops, alongside a prep station, an oven, and a stove to put in your kitchen.
Alongside the cooking update, we have paid DLC themed around cooking, too! It's called Chef's Kiss, and it adds a few baking and cooking accessories to your game:
Donut Rug
Cloche
Pot Rack
Marble Counter
Marble Counter with Sink
Bakery House
The Chef's Kiss DLC costs the same as all the other DLC we've released, and as always, it's decor ONLY. You can cook in your game with or without the DLC!
Happy Cooking!
Kate, Community Manager who is now very hungryyyy
COOKING COOKING COOKING, ITS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME ...and you! And everyone that plays Moonstone Island! Thats right, we have a major, FREE, update coming next week themed around the culinary arts!
[previewyoutube=gkHqOeGgzIQ;full][/previewyoutube]
As part of next weeks Cooking Update which introduces a BRAND NEW mechanic that yall have been poking us about, we're also releasing another DLC to go alongside it for folks who want a little extra decor. This one is called Chef's Kiss, and it comes with a bunch of items to make your indoors look like a kitchen, and your outdoors look like a cute lil bakery!
Here are the items that the paid DLC (Called Chefs Kiss) will add to your game:
Donut Rug
Cloche
Pot Rack
Marble Counter
Marble Counter with Sink
Bakery House
This DLC launches on July 31st. It'll cost the same as all the other DLC we've released, and as always, it's decor ONLY. The cooking mechanic will be added to the game FOR FREE, so get your olive oils out and flour your hands in preparation!
Bone apple teeth!

- Reconsider card bug fixed (and likely other similar cards)
- We know you want to jump the gun and smooch the mystery man, but patience is a virtue "Ask for a date" in Magic Mans interaction menu is disabled until both the mirror and rift quests are completed
- Removed Give shard option from Magic Mans menu when hes not in his hut, because Fishbo Jr was taking the delivery and he's not responsible enough
- Winter exteriors for recently added homes, so now all your houses can be cute and snowy
- Added Get Rocked exploration ability icon above stamina bar for Chiminea

There's a ton of pool and party-related cosmetics in this update, so let's get to the part where I do a big long list:
- In-Ground Pool
- Barbecue
- Towel
- Beach Umbrella
- Beach Blanket
- Snorcko Floatie
- Cooler
- Folding Beach Chair
- Lounge Chair
- Sand Bucket and Shovel
- Swimming Tube x2
- Tiki Torch
As you can tell, a lot of these items are perfect to decorate the outside of your home perhaps you want to set up a cute little poolside resort, or a lounge area next to the lake? Personally, I'm excited about the Snorcko Floatie. It's adorable, and I love my snorkel boi. As for patch notes, it's a bit dry this time we've been quite busy launching a game on Switch, if you didn't already know! So, for now, here are some bug fixes:
- Clicking on the invisible top menu bar while some other window is on the screen no longer causes the control hints to blink rapidly
- Disabled I shouldn't destroy town property notification you totally can destroy town property now, so this was just making people feel bad
- Removed outline effect from the text that is shown at the end of fishing minigame, because it was not readable in other languages
- Increased width for Select an item to put into the picture frame text, since it was truncated in some languages
*drum roll*
And now, please welcome to the stage: you know her, you love her, it's... POOOOOL PARTYYYYYY!
(The audience goes wild as a 7 foot tall drag queen named Pool Party steps onto the stage in platform heels. She is wearing sunglasses and a tiny bikini, and her wig is made of pool noodles. She begins to lip-sync to Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett.)
That's right! Our next DLC is on its way, and this one's a little bit different... because it's FREE for EVERYONE.
It's called Pool Party, and in case you can't guess, it's themed around summertime swimmin'. We've got towels. We've got floaties shaped like Snorcko. We've got actual, in-ground pools that you can swim in. It's a bathing bonanza!
Just remember the rules: no diving, no running, and no peeing. The P in pool should only be in its name, thanks.
Even better news: we're launching the Pool Party FREE DLC on PC this Thursday, 27th June, just in time for the beginning of summer!
We also have our NEXT update in the works, and I know I say this ALL THE TIME, but I think this one is game-changing. Get excited, pals.
Alright, that's it for today. Go put on some sunscreen and go outside! Unless you're in the parts of the southern hemisphere where it's currently very winter, in which case, stay inside and put a scarf on.
Kate, Community Manager and champion dive-bomber
Happy Summer, Alchemists! We've changed the name of a couple of our DLCs (but in name only, the contents remain the same!) and wanted to give you all a heads-up! Delightful little Comforts = Decor Galore! December's Lovely Cozies = Cozy Comforts! Our acronyms, while adorable, might have been hard to shorten for you all so we've made them stand out on their own! Welp, that's all, just some small changes to get our house in order. Oh ya, we're now out on Nintendo Switch! I suppose that's a big deal! ~ Studio Supersoft P.S. We've got something coming next week for every. last. one. of. you. Whoa, that sounds ominous... but it's the opposite of that! AND IT'LL BE FREE! Stay tuned ;)
Tiny lil patchy-patch!
- Placeable walls were not appearing in the decoration station for some existing players - fixed.
- Chiminea (mine-only spirit) was spawning on islands for existing players - fixed.
We pushed a fix for this issue in version 1995.1
Our latest update clashed with Steam Cloud Saves and caused an issue for some players leading to broken save files. These saves are not gone! Just hidden. If for any reason the issue persists you can follow the steps below to retrieve your files. Fix for PC/Mac https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r7xGdU-bXG_P6X_7_GWZcoyFEUGEjYMj5pEpGdG0Qr0/edit Fix for Steamdeck https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Yp8TttN2Fvp-E4HW2Shs8RnVznS2KclEacC9sD-suEk/edit?usp=sharing We sincerely apologize for this issue, unfortunately, it did not appear in any of our QA testing <3
It's nearing the end of Magic May, which means we're adding a ton of stuff to the game new furniture, new dialogue, new Spirits, and all of that. But we've already talked about that. You know all that. Today, my friends, I have brought you here to talk about the thing we love most (at least I do) PATCH NOTES. It's a long one, so we've split it up into four categories: Big Things, Small Things, Magic Man Things, and Bug Things. I mean, fixes. Bug Fixes. Let's start off with our man of the month, Magic Man!
Magic Man Things
- Magic Man discovered a new, forbidden kind of card magic, and as a result he's developed dozens of new "shop exclusive" cards. Don't call the card police pls
- He's also finally learned how to actually, you know, leave the house. Once Waldo moves to Moonstone Island, he will now walk around instead of staying inside all the time. He'll even go to the Tavern!
- Waldo has more to say once he's moved back, too. There's a lot of new dialogue from both him and the other NPCs that acknowledge his presence instead of awkwardly ignoring him all the time. No wonder he never left the house before.
- We've added a few Magic Man-themed decorations to the game! Some are DLC, and some are part of the free update. There's a lot of purple, a lot of magic, and even a few things shaped like Waldo's iconique hat
Big Things
- Ten! New! Inventory! Slots!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you think of a single game that has ever given you inventory expansions after launch? It's probably never been done. We're pocket pioneers, baby
- And while we're at it: You get a second tool wheel! You get a second tool wheel! EVERYBODY GETS A SECOND TOOL WHEEEEEEL
- Four! New! Spirits!!! One of them is a shrub with legs, and I love him. Also, Pombomb from Cassette Beasts is in Moonstone Island now! Synergy!!!!!!!
- Step into the amazing new world of MAP ZOOMING, where you can see each island much bigger than before! Bonus: It makes matching islands to treasure maps roughly ten billion times easier
- Animated house exterior!! ANIMATED HOUSE EXTERIOR!!!!! It's a big ol' fishbowl, because we know you all want to live like Fishbo lives. This one's free for everyone. I mean... it's on the house
- Trees now have a chance of dropping saplings when cut down, which is only horrifying if you think about it too much
- Furnaces can now smelt multiple ingots because we're all too darn busy to babysit a fire forever
- More furnace news: you can now add ore and coal to the furnace while it's running. If you burn yourselves we are not liable ok
- We updated the save system! It now automatically organizes games into separate files, so you won't curse the day the developers were born every time you accidentally overwrite a save. Side note: please stop cursing the day we were born
- Zed has been building a computer in his spare time... and it was for you! Now you can use it to access Spirit Storage after hours
- Does the gigantic empty space of the basement make you nervous? Split that bad boy up into smaller rooms like a greedy landlord with our new placeable walls! They can be rotated, placed anywhere, used to hang decor, and even wallpapered like regular walls!
- Tobin's been working hard on Fish ScienceTM, and he's developed a few new fishing lures that will help you catch specific fish to fill out that trophy shelf
- XP is now a lot easier to get, because we're not about that grind
- NAPPING UNLOCKED. Head to your bed to take a lil snoozy-woozy and refill your energy at any time
- Fibre is now purchasable in the workshop
- Added Russian language! !
Small Things
- Mass manufacture ENABLED! Craft multiple items at once by pressing and holding the craft button!
- Mass feeding ENABLED! Give your Spirits the mukbang they deserve by holding down the "feed" button to give them multiple crops in one go!
- Mass alchemy ENABLED! The Alchemy Station now accepts up to 100 crops, bottles, and ash, and can produce 100 concoctions!
- Wearing your dancing shoes on the dancefloor in Ossono's Tavern now has a neat surprise
- If you're the kind of person that gets really attached to inanimate objects, then the new Item Frame is for you! Show off your favourite thing in your home!
- Concoctions can now be found in dungeon chests, hopefully making that one quest from your mother a little bit easier
- We made a lot of improvements to the targeting of placeable objects with both gamepad AND mouse! That's equality, baby!
- Gotta go fast, right? Now you can do more while sprinting: interact with objects and NPCs, place stuff, plant seeds, use items, eat crops, and MORE
- We also disabled the white outline on objects when the player is sprinting, so you won't be distracted from your go fast time
- Placing fences and bridges is now a bit faster, too! We removed the animation. It probably saves like 0.3 seconds, but it adds up, right?
- And the Spirit Brush is faster, too! We didn't remove the animation for it, because you gotta pet the lil guys, but we did speed it up. Zooooom
Bug Fixes
- Adjusted Spirit pathfinding to stop wild spirits spawning in fenced areas on Rift island
- Fixed an issue where player would get stuck in the mountain cave after opening Medallion
- The black rectangles that would sometimes pop up in your journal are GONE
- Fixed Spirits displaying behind dungeon doors
- Made sure that Ossono is actually attached to the balloon that floats away during her wedding
- Fixed an issue where you could propose to someone, cancel the proposal, leave the conversation, and start the conversation again, resulting in the dialogue skipping to the chat options. I mean, no offence, pals, but that's a really weird way to propose
- Fixed the Greenhouse Fishing loot becoming inaccessible
- Fixed npcSpeechBubble 9-patch object
- Fixed a bug when some placeable objects didnt stack after being picked up
- Fixed a few localization issues - title menu truncated in other languages, game files using incorrect font etc.
Happy Magic May, everyone! Today, we're launching our latest update alongside some new DLC, both of which are themed around the mysterious man we all love to love: Waldo! However! Our enigmatic wizard and chicken house aficionado may be the focus of this update, but that doesn't mean that's all you get. We've also added a bunch of new tweaks, content, and changes that will make the game even better than before. [previewyoutube=penq0kbCHLc;full][/previewyoutube]
Magic May Update
Waldo (AKA Magic Man) finally figured out how to open his front door, and (if you've unlocked him moving to Moonstone Island) will now walk around town instead of hiding in his chicken house. He has new dialogue to acknowledge being back in town, and various other events! The other Moonstone Islanders will also have new dialogue concerning Waldo and him being back in town, so it feels less... weird that he turned up after being missing for years and everyone's just totally fine with it. Waldo will also sell dozens of new cards in his shop! There will now be a party to celebrate you closing the rift, because that's kind of a big deal Magic-themed furniture will be available for everyone, so you can add broom racks, scroll boxes, stained glass windows, and various witchy items to your house to make our Waldo feel right at home. Now for the stuff that isn't Waldo-related:
- Fishbo! We're showing off our love for Moonstone Island's official unofficial mascot with a Fishbo-themed rug, a statue, and a fishbowl house. Now you can become as Fishbo.
- Extra, extra! Moonstone Island inhabitants discover napping! You can now sleep for short periods of time to regain energy, even if it's not bedtime!
- Map zooming! Revolutionary!!!
- Tired of living in a studio apartment? Why not try: WALLS! We've added placeable walls to the furniture catalog, so now you can divide up those rooms into much smaller rooms like the world's greediest landlord!
- Do you love to min-max? Are you an efficiency demon? Why not try the new, definitely unsafe, Perpetual FurnaceTM! It's a furnace that runs continuously and can be added to while running. Don't worry about emissions! The world is already in ruins!
- We've also invented the Perpetual Alchemy LabTM! You can now brew multiple concoctions at the same time, and add ingredients while it's running. Science!
- Four new Spirits, including one you might recognize from another Raw Fury game
- Zed will now allow you to access the Spirit Storage at the Science Center even if he's not there. I guess you got a spare key or something? Use it wisely.
- New fishing lures that allow you to catch certain fish, because I *know* y'all have been struggling with finding that one particular fish like a really low-stakes Moby Dick
- A second tool wheel! Now you don't have to choose favorites! You can have ALL your tools ready to go!
- Do you really, really love a particular item? Attached to the stonefruit, perhaps? Or dreaming of showing off your favorite rock? Well, now you can, with the all-new ITEM FRAME!
- You can now press and hold to craft items and feed crops
- And the best thing of all: YOUR POCKETS JUST GOT BIGGER. We've added ten more inventory slots to EVERYONE'S game. For free. YEAHHHHH
Arcane Artifacts DLC
We're also launching our latest DLC! As always, this DLC is cosmetic only, and will not be required to unlock any extra content beyond the decor items that it comes with. And here's what those decor items are:
- Magic Hat House
- Magic Hat Rug
- Lectern
- Candelabrum
- Summoning Circle
- Tattered Curtain

Hello, hello, hello! This is Ossono writing to you from inside Moonstone Island. How does that work, you ask? Magic! And also, stop asking!
New DLC
I have been informed that there is upcoming DLC for Moonstone Island once more, this time themed around... magic! I don't know what DLC is, but I *do* know what magic is, and also I really think you're going to enjoy the magic-themed furniture and decor that Paolo has whipped up for us launching on May 21st. Well, it's a collaboration between Paolo and Waldo, but Paolo did most of the work. (Don't tell Waldo I said that. He'll turn me into a frog, probably.) There's a candelabrum for those of you who feel like your home isn't quite medieval enough, a lectern for those of you who love to let everyone know that you can read, a tattered curtain for anyone who wants the "shabby chic" look in their room, and a rug shaped like Waldo's hat. Oh, and a summoning circle. I won't ask too many questions about that one, but please try not to summon too many demons, k? Moonstone Island has enough problems to deal with. You'll also be able to change your house exterior to look like Waldo's hat, which is... quite a choice. Let's just say I'm glad we don't have an HOA out here. I can't really talk, though. My house is a barrel.
Free Update
Hey. 'Sup. Ferra here. Ossono got anxious about having to write this newsletter, downed an entire pint of beer in five seconds, and now she's having a nap. Now it's Ferra time! I'm gonna tell you about the free update. K, so there's a free update. Duh. It's gonna be released at the same time as the DLC, and it's gonna make Moonstone Island EXTREMELY COOL. So, get this: you also get a ton of new furniture, like a crystal ball (for peepin' futures), a Venus Flytrap (don't tell Gaiana lol), a house that looks like a fishbowl (you do you, weirdo), an item frame to show off your favorite items, a rug shaped like Fishbo (best boi), and WALLS!!!! Yeah! You can now turn your rooms into smaller rooms with the magic of Wall TechnologyTM. There's more furniture but I think it should be a surprise. Oh yeah, also, apparently Waldo (you might know him as "Magic Man" or "the weird guy with the chicken house") is getting a bunch of extra dialogue. I don't know what that means, but I'm just glad that he'll be a bit more talkative now that he's moved back into town. It was kinda sad that he just avoided all of us before, but now he's chill. We're pals. I'm bored now, lemme get someone else to take over...
New Spirits
Alchemist! Hello! It's Zed! Ferra said I need to write a newsletter, so, here I am! So, I'm not entirely sure what happened (Cleo and I are working on figuring it out), but there have been new Spirits sighted on the outer islands! I don't know much about them yet, but one of them is a dog-like creature, so I'm trying to remain calm, but I CAN'T, I LOVE HIM, HE'S SO CUTE. Apparently, alongside this influx of new Spirits, Waldo has also managed to discover some new card magic, which means he's created some new cards for sale in his shop. Things are so exciting!!!! I need to go and prepare my research stations! Aaaah!
Other Stuff
Uh... Zed just ran past me and gave me this piece of paper. Am I supposed to finish this thing? Ugh. Fine. It's Gaiana, by the way. So, there's other stuff. I mean, aside from the furniture, and the DLC, and the Spirits, and whatever. New events. Map zooming. Napping. More inventory slots. A second tool wheel. And more stuff. I guess. Woo. I have to go do something that isn't this. Bye.
Details
Ossono again! The update and the DLC both come out on May 21st on Steam. More details to come!!! Byeeee!!!!!!!!!! xoxoxo Kate, Community Manager who did not write any of this post Oh! Before we forget we saw this strange, soft relic appear before us last night....hmmm....
Farming Fest starts today, and we're a part of it! Let's get growing! :D

Potential fix for "black screen" bug that was occurring for some players after battles ending and when entering/exiting buildings We believe this bug was caused by an issue with our game engine that has recently been fixed by the Construct 3 team. We will continue to monitor the forums to see if the issue pops up again or has been successfully resolved. Thank you for your patience and for your help determining the cause of this bug! XOXO Moonstone Island dev team <3
Alchemists, its time! All aboard the sale train, because it's about to head to Moonstone Island Station. We're doing another big discount for the game and all the DLC as part of Steam's Spring Sale!!! Here are the deets: Moonstone Island - 25% off Valentine's DLC - 25% off Halloween DLC - 35% off December DLC - 35% off Delightful Little Comforts DLC - 35% off Soundtrack - 25% off Art book - 25% off The sale will be on from March 14 - 21, and this is (yet again) our biggest sale yet. We've only done a 25% discount once before, so this is the best price for Moonstone Island right now! Unless you find a burned CD copy of it in a mysterious package sent to your house by an anonymous person, in which case... you probably shouldn't put that CD in your PC. Just buy a copy instead. It's less than $20. Also, stop putting mysterious CDs in your computer and giving out your address to strangers. AND just a reminder that you can now grab our bundle with Slay the Spire and grab additional savings by buying both together (OR, if you already own one, you still save by buying the other!) ~ Kate, Community Manager, and Card Collector SUPREME!
Oh *hello* there, Alchemists! It's been a little while! Have you missed us? We've missed you. But we have returned, and we bring some *very* exciting news. As usual, I know. What can I say? We have a lot of exciting news here at the exciting news factory. That's what I like to call my office.
Exciting News #1
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, sorry, it's just... this is very exciting for us. And me, personally. Okay. So. WE'RE DOING A BUNDLE WITH SLAY THE SPIRE STARTING ON MAY 14th!!!!!!!! (What? WHAT?!)
YEAH! (No, seriously, what? What's a bundle in this context?) So, Moonstone Island and Slay The Spire have teamed up to create a card-loving, deck-building, lil-guy-fighting bundle, which means that you can buy Moonstone Island AND Slay The Spire as a bundle to get 10% off both! Even if you have one of the games in your library already, you still get the bundle discount if you buy the other! But wait! THERE'S MORE! We're also adding a Slay The Spire creature to Moonstone Island, free for all players! It was really hard to pick which one to add... because, like, who wants to befriend a teeny version of Gremlin Nob? Not me, that's for sure. That guy has kicked my arse too many times for me to ever consider being his friend. I promise I am good at Slay the Spire and I don't lose to Act 1 mini-bosses on a regular basis. I'm on Ascension 11! I just... sometimes make mistakes, y'know? And I have a personal grudge against Gremlin Nob. SUE ME.
ANYWAYYYY, the new lil guy is the "Fat Gremlin" from the gang of gremlins that you fight early on, but we've renamed him Spyreling, as a tribute to the game itself, and to the fact that he's fire-type. It took us a long time to come up with a name, because we already have one gremlin-esque named Spirit (Gemlin - yes, it's pronounced gem-lin, no one seems to know that!) so we needed something unique. This bundle and new addition to the game will go live the same day as the Spring Sale (March 14) so make sure to combine the two discounts, or tell all your card-loving friends to get all the discounts. Better yet, tell all your friends who AREN'T into card games. I recently got my friend into Slay The Spire, so I promise it can be done.
Exciting News #2
Remember earlier when I said "more on that later"? Or are you just skimming this page? That's okay. I wrote a lot. IT'S SPRING! Well, nearly. Spring starts officially on March 20th. But still! That's soon! And the reason that's exciting is because Moonstone Island launches on Switch in Spring 2024, which is SOON! We haven't confirmed an exact date yet (still workin' on it), but some time between March 20 and June 20, you'll get to see Moonstone Island on the Nintendo Switch. VERY COOL. ------ That's all the exciting news I can tell you right now, but it's NOT the only exciting news I've got cooking up. There are more cool things around the corner! Kate, Community Manager and VERY BIG SLAY THE SPIRE FAN WHO HAS OVER 400 HOURS IN THE GAME

Hello, Adorable Alchemists!
The winter is here, the new year has come, and it's almost time for everyone's second favorite holiday about buying things, eating rich foods, and trying to impress all the cuties in your life: Valentine's Day!!!!
[previewyoutube=tMoVRhbQofI;full][/previewyoutube]
Speaking of cuties, just take a look inside this heart-shaped box right here, and you'll find a few tokens of our love coming to you on February 13th...
LOVE TOKEN #1
It wouldn't be a Valentine's update without being able to show your undying devotion to the person who means the most to you. In the game, I mean.
THAT'S RIGHT MOONSTONE ISLAND WILL HAVE MARRIAGE
Moonstone Island has jumped on the new trend of "getting married", and that means you'll now be able to propose to your partner, hold a wedding ceremony (with cute outfits and a range of options for you to wear), have a reception with friends and family, and then your spouse will even move into your house!
We've written lots of new dialogue and made new animations for your spouse!!!! This is something we've been dreaming of doing for aaaaages, and were super excited about the new NPC content :D
LOVE TOKEN #2
It's DLC!!! And this time, it's themed around the most romantic time of year, as dictated by greeting cards companies.
Our Valentine's DLC will allow you to go ALL IN on the heart-shaped theme, with a heart rug, a heart house skin for your house, a heart box of chocolates, a heart archway (or "heartchway") and a heart lamp, as well as a loveseat. It's not shaped like a heart, but it has "love" in the name!
The DLC, which launches on February 13th, will cost $3.99 with a 20% launch discount.
LOVE TOKEN #3
A new update is here, and much like love, it don't cost a thing! As with all our big updates, this one contains a LOT of stuff that will improve the life of the game, as well as your enjoyment and fun-having time.
Some highlights:
- Five new Spirits!
- An updated taming system
- Magic Man attends festivals now
- A new home exterior skin - An adorable Bird House!
- Lots of new items
- ...and moooooore????
I'll be telling you the details about all those free items soon LOVE TOKEN #4 I can't tell you what this one is yet, but I can tease the heck out of it, right? We've got a collab in the works. It's a REALLY good one. That's all. See you next time for more deets!!! Kate, Community Manager and lover of love
I am usually so good at knowing what newsletter number we are on, but it's been a while since the last newsletter, and over the Christmas break, I forgot how to count, so... Welcome back! How's it going? How was your Christmas/New Year/non-denominational winter holidays? Or summer holidays, if you're in the Southern Hemisphere? You know, I've actually never been south of the equator. Maybe I should make that my new year's resolution!
Our break was great, and we're already working on some COOL STUFF FOR SOON TIMES. Can't tell you about it yet, but maybe I'll give a little hint: I had to write a lot of new stuff! It's the first time I've done a significant amount of non-item-description writing since the game released!!!!! How exciting.
New Year, New Meeeee!!
I wanted to do a little retrospective of 2023, because I saw other games studios doing it, and it looked cool. So! Let's go! 2023 retrospective!!!
- Sandy and Kate (the lead dev and the writer, AKA me) met for the first time at GDC, and we got to show off the game as part of The Mix
- I wrote about 100,000 words of dialogue and we sent it to localisation ON TIME
- We had a demo in the Steam Next Fest
- We announced our release date
- We ran multiple closed betas to make the game really really good
- We released Moonstone Island on September 20th (how has it only been 4 months what)
- We got Steam Deck Verified
- We announced the Switch version (coming Spring 2024!) at Nintendo's Indie World in December
- We released three DLC packs (Decor, Halloween, and Winter)
- We did 12 big patches that added tons of content, too
- We hit 50k Twitter followers which honestly feels less cool now that Twitter is in the toilet but STILL
- Our Discord hit 4,000 members
- We met all of youuuuuuu
I can't believe we got so much great fan art in the last few weeks! I honestly expected it to get real quiet on the fan art front, but no! There's so much!!! Okay, admittedly, this first one is not technically fan art. It's commissioned emotes, made by Briggyea for Eylime's Twitch and Discord, themed around YOURS TRULY. Look how cute these are! There's a chad Fishbo, a sus Ribbite, and a "This Is Fine" Bonfire! Amazing work, 10/10.
And you know what else we love to see? People's OC Spirit designs! Seriously, it's probably the cutest fan art we get to see, and we wish we could make them all real! This lil guy is by TenaciousTurnip, and he's an ice Spirit that lives in a stocking. I want to eat him.
*contented purr* Meow. (Mr Morris had a great break, thank you for asking. But now, it's back to CEO duties for this sleepy kitty.) And that's all for this week! Welcome back, and happy 2024! Kate, Community Manager and Writer of Many Secret New Words
It's time for our 14th patch notes! It's mostly bug fixes today, but one fairly exciting addition...
- Three new island shapes, including everyone's favourite, COOL S
- Hopefully fixed the soft-lock bug when playing Sacrifice and similar cards, so you'll no longer have to SACRIFICE (heh) your day
- Pasting a large image into the loom will no longer crash your game
- We turned down the bridge sound in the Infinidungeon, which was previously playing at max volume. Sorry for all the heart attacks we gave you
- Fixed the fertilizer collision mask, so now you can till the ground around a fertilized tile
- The descriptions for some abilities were too long in some languages and didn't fit in the box! That's fixed now. Looking at you, German
- At the end of the tutorial, the screen is supposed to fade out, but it didn't. Now it do
- There was a bug with Spirits going into storage basically, if your Spirit took damage or had its stats modified somehow, the game is supposed to reset the stats again when you go to sleep. But if you put those Spirits into the Science Center storage, they would keep the stat changes. Way too OP! We fixed it
We're kicking off 2024 with a lucky number 13 it's our thirteenth patch notes! And boy howdy, this one's a doozy. Yeah, this is how I talk now. This is the 2024 me. I use words like "doozy". Don't make fun of me, it's patch time: UPDATES
- Fluffybutt. Big Steppy. Sir Lampsalot. These are all excellent suggestions for what you can call your favourite Spirits, because you can now RENAME THEM. YEAH
- Also, you can use arrow keys to navigate in the Spirit renaming dialogue
- Spirit resources in the barn are now "magnetic" and you can pick them up just by moving near them. That's right! Spirit Poop will now fly towards you! You're welcome
- Active potions are now displayed above the stamina bar, like how some students keep all their empty beer cans lined up at the top of their kitchen cabinets
- The big map in the main menu is bigger than before
- Shiny Spirits will not spawn until you unlock Beginner Spiritmaster in the skill tree (unless you use a Holo potion)
- The Spirit Research screen now fits four Spirit cards
- Using a Study Talisman to add a card to your Spirit's deck now has a "skip" option, just in case you change your mind
- After using a Talisman, you now return to the Spirit interaction menu
- We hired a new guy to hold the camera, and he's much better at his job, so now the camera movement is improved (and should jiggle less when you stop moving)
- Fixed a bug that was causing the tavern to run out of Coffee and other items (the bug was Ossono forgetting to refill the coffee)
- Fixed a soft lock that happened if you saved the game while standing next to the trophy case
- Fixed a bug where Pressing Y+X at the same time on gamepad (or inventory+sort keys) can sometimes clear all items from the inventory rows 2-4.
- Apparently no one was getting XP for opening chests in mines and dungeons!!!! We fixed it, and everyone should be getting retrospective XP awarded to them as well
- Fixed a soft lock that happened when you changed some of the keybinds
- The Poinsettia plant was being sold on the first day of Spring, which it shouldn't be. We locked it back in its winter prison
- Fixed an issue with Spirit storage screens not scrolling on gamepad
- Fixed the Fallen Foe card it should replenish energy now
- Fixed a bunch of issues with scrollable windows
- Fixed the map auto-centering on the player
- Fixed duplicate island bugs
- Fixed a bug with feeding vitality crops to Spirits in battle
- And the best fix of all for those of you who hate notification badges: the "unread mail" icon on the mailbox now properly goes away when you read all your mail
The year is almost over... and that means that we're about to go on holiday, which means that this is the LAST NEWSLETTER OF 2023. I can't believe it! 2023 has been an amazing year for us, with the launch of Moonstone Island on PC, all the updates we've been doing, the Switch release announcement... and that's all been in the last three months, even though it feels like a LOT longer.
2024 is, of course, our Switch launch year, so here's hoping it'll be even more amazing a lot of cozy gamers are Switch-only, so I'm expecting it to get a little busy! But with all of you kind, generous, and patient Moonstoners, I'm not too worried. Thank you for all your lovely responses to the game so far

First off... THANK YOU. You're all so talented and good at making beautiful art, and also showing off your love for certain things in the game. We weren't sure we'd get fan art at all, because it's not a guarantee, but we've had so much that it's been hard to choose what to show off in these newsletters! Here's a rather scary and intense version of Capacibee from Kirby, which looks like the kind of metal album cover we'd pick up and listen to:
Here's Quirky's adorable plush Womr, WITH DETACHABLE WOMR:
Incredible work. As an amateur crocheter myself, I know how much work these were, so well done. VERY well done.

HOLO-DAY HUNT
This post is here to tell you about our upcoming Holo-Day Weekend event, which will work just like our Holoween event every player will receive some Holo Hunter Potions in the mail, and each one can be used to increase your chances of finding a Holo Spirit (that's a Spirit with a unique color palette you know, like Shiny Pokmon) from 0.2% to 10%!!!
The Holo-Day Weekend takes place from December 15th to December 18th, so just make sure to pop into the game during that time to grab your potions. Once you've got them, they're yours to keep until you use them.
Here are the details:
[olist]
- Gingerbread House
- Gingerbread Boi and a Gingerbread Lass
- Firepit
- Three varieties of Presents
- Roast Dinner
- Candy Cane Archway
- Snowflake Garlands
- Snowglobe
- Poinsettia Plant
- Store up to 300 Spirits at the Science Center (no Barn required!)
- A new Warp Totem which serves as a fast-travel point to wherever you place it
- Even Bigger Barn (twice the size as the current biggest)
- Five new Spirits!!!!
- And the INFINIDUNGEON (Infinite floors. Level cap removed. Good luck.)
- And that's only the beginning. I haven't even told you specifics, like what the new Spirits are, or where the Infinidungeon can be found. Heheheh.
Patch! Notes! 11!!!!! YEAH!!!
- There was a bug that totally broke the Earth Temple's ladder plant if you used fertilizer on it! We fixed it... but, uh, we did hope that people would use the Alchemist's Wand on it, not try to grow it the slow way. We get it! The temple is exciting so it's easy to forget the cool item you just picked up
- Shocking news: Apparently the very first letter that you get in the game... was never delivered. We blame Moonstone Island's Postal Service (which is run by Zed in his spare time). It should be in your mailbox now!
- Do you have a ton of custom wallpaper and floor tiles? And is your game lagging like crazy? Ooooops. It should be better now!
- Y'all found another exploit if you clicked your mouse and pressed E at the same time while scything crops, you could get double the seeds. We're really sorry but we had to patch it out!
- Spirits will now tell you if they've already been fed and/or brushed that day in a little bubble above their heads. You can totally pet them as many times as you like anyway, but at least you don't have to.
- The Hot Spring: Now on Steam! I mean, wait. Hot Spring now *has* steam. Like, steam particles. Yeah.
- Dark Matter was appearing in chests, and it's not supposed to. I mean, it's Spirit Poop. Did they poop in the chest? How? Why??? Anyway, it doesn't appear in chests anymore.
"Dress your Fishbo warmly," says @MessyZandrewbert. But does a Fishbo globe wear a scarf like this, or like this?
A couple weeks ago I asked for non-traditional fan art, and boy did y'all deliver. Check out this adorable Lookachoo keycap from delialalala!
Meow meow meow meoooooow, meow meow meow meow meow meooooow meow. Meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow, meow meow meooooow. That was Mr Morris singing a rather beautiful cat rendition of "O Holy Night". Except, well, in cat-language, the lyrics are very different. They're mostly about kibble. We hope you have a wonderful holiday, and we'll see you next week for the big release! ~ Studio Supersoft

Everybody (yeaaaaaaaah)
Rock your body (yeaaaaaaaah)
Everybody
Rock your body right
Moonstone's back, alright
I don't know. I just had that song in my head. I'm sorry. Yesterday's stuck-in-my-head song was Banana Phone, so at least it's an improvement on that. What I'm trying to say is: IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER MOONSTONE NEWSLETTER!
AUTUMN SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's coming to the end of Autumn, and just like our ancestors used to celebrate/mourn the dying of the light with festivals centered around the harvest and/or fire, so too do we celebrate/mourn by holding a BIG SAAAALE. Moonstone Island is 20% off until the 28th November, and the DLC is also discounted 10%, so it's the best time to buy a copy for every single person you know!
I think our ancestors would be proud, if a little confused. They'd be all like "what do you mean a steam sale? How canst thou purchase steam, which is most ephemeral? Oh, I must not tarry, young Nathaniel is dying of the plague again."
Anyway, yes, we're on sale. Go buy the game.
Steam Nomination Please
Oh, also, since it's nearing the end of the year, that means a few things! One, make sure you've written all the games you want on your list for KeighleyClaus, because Geoffmas (AKA The Game Awards) is almost here. Two, it's GOTY time, baby! And even if we can't possibly ever hope to beat Baldur's Gate 3, we can still hope!
If you loved Moonstone Island, please consider giving us a little nomination as a treat. May we suggest the "Sit Back and Relax" category? Surely, Baldur's Gate 3 won't win that one... right? (Astarion cackles in the background) RIGHT????
We do love Baldur's Gate. But we also love awards.
Cozy Quest Roundup (?)
This week, we also took part in Cozy Quest, which was a lil showcase of cozy games like A Little to the Left, Fae Farm, Wobbledogs and LODDLENAUT which also RELEASED DURING COZY QUEST!!! Sorry for the caps but I am HYPED to play Loddlenaut. It's so freakin cute.
Before this turns into a Loddlenaut love-fest, though, Moonstone Island was also there, being cozy and such. It's an honour to be included in these things, not least because we get to be on the front page of Steam :) Keep an eye out for more!
DID WE MENTION SWITCH? DONT 4GET (?)
Oh yeah and also we're coming to Switch in Spring 2024. We may have mentioned it.
SWIIIIITCH! Like, *the* Switch! The Nintendo Switch! Personally, I've always been a Nintendo kid, so I'm very excited. Actual Nintendo! Actual Switch!!!! It's very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We hit a milestone of sorts: It's our tenth patch notes! Just a lil one, though:
- Our last patch made "pop-in" really bad, so we changed the system now it pre-loads sprites. This should make it a lot better, but let us know if it doesn't!
- Our last patch introduced copy & paste patterns on the Loom (which is SO COOL) but we had to fix an issue with the bottom rows not pasting correctly. Should work just fine now!
- BIG NEWS: You can now cut down trees and break rocks in town. You are the master of your surroundings. Place your house anywhere. The only thing that can stop you now is Death himself.
- Yay, patch notes!

This week, or maybe last week, I forget, I put out a request for more *unusual* fan art using mediums beyond drawing and painting! And our Discord community DE LIV ERED. Check out this Pappus with a lil pom-pom! It's incredible! So cute! So fluffy!!!
And you *know* we love OC Spirits here in this community, so crow cawcaw's Christmas-themed creations (based on "somewhat problematic holiday traditions at home") made us extremely happy. Especially the highly specific last one, which is very relatable.
*cough* Mr Morris, are you okay? *hairball splutter* Meow. Mmm, gross, thank you. Meowwwww! I already told them to vote for us, Mr Morris, don't worry. Chill. That's all for this week! More exciting news very soon! ~ Studio Supersoft
Wowwwwwwww, we just hit double digits for patch notes! This is our tenth one! It sounds like something that shouldn't be celebrated because, you know, it's like saying "break out the champagne, this is the plumber's fifth visit to my house!" but I like to think that a lot of patch notes actually shows how much we care about Moonstone Island and want to make it better. Which is true! Anyway, just a small one for today, pals:
- Our last patch made "pop-in" really bad, so we changed the system now it pre-loads sprites. This should make it a lot better, but let us know if it doesn't!
- Our last patch introduced copy & paste patterns on the Loom (which is SO COOL) but we had to fix an issue with the bottom rows not pasting correctly. Should work just fine now!

Hellooooo, Alchemists (and soon-to-be Alchemists-in-training!) Two super important things to chat about today that are both (well, in our opinion) exciting as cuss! ONE (singular sensation!): It's Steam Awards votin' time and you're all invited! It'd sure mean a lot to us at our tiny lil' studio if you voted for us in any of the categories, but maybe especially the "Sit Back and Relax" title?? It's the top award for Cozy Games and we'd love to be put in the running if you think we're fit to be there <3 [Insert gif of an adorable cat with giant eyes - but we won't for copywrite reasons and Mr. Morris is only giving only side-eye at the moment... but it is dinner-time as I'm writing this so...] In fact, while you're there, why don't you vote on your favorite games in all categories? I'm sure just about any of the games on Steam would appreciate the vote! TWO: Did you notice? We're on sale for the Steam Autumn Sale on top of everything else! Let's see what kind of savings you could grab RIGHT NOW (like, "right now", right now!): Moonstone Island - 20% Off Delightful Little Comforts DLC - 10% Off Artbook - 10% Off Soundtrack - 10% Off Decorator's Bundle - 24% Off You've got until November 28th to grab the above at some sweet sweet discounts so be sure to take a look at your wishlist and grab the games you've been saving up for a rainy day for! It'd be cool if Moonstone Island was one of those, but you do you <3 Until later this week, Moonstoners! ~ Studio Supersoft and Raw Fury
Hello, lovely Moonstoners! It's another beautiful week, and Moonstone Island just keeps getting better. This week, we have patch notes, a cool and cozy Steam event, and, uh, wasn't there... something else... I'm forgetting...
OH YEAH WE ANNOUNCED OUR NINTENDO SWITCH RELEASE WINDOW
Now I remember. It was a whole thing, we were on the Indie World Showcase, everyone was like "yay" and "woo", it was pretty cooooool. Yay! Woo!
Cozy Quest Event Starting
This week we're also going to be part of Cozy Quest, a Steam event run by our good pals over at Secret Mode (they published A Little to the Left, Wobbledogs, and Loddlenaut!)
Cozy Quest is a curation of the bestest-best cozy games on Steam, and runs from the 16th to the 20th November. During that time, we'll be on the front page of Steam, alongside games like Ooblets, Potion Permit, and Unpacking, and I will also personally give you 20,000 Cozy Points whenever you wrap yourself in a blanket, drink a hot chocolate, or put on slippers. (Disclaimer: Cozy Points do not have any value. They are just for acknowledging your Cozy Level.)
Get cozy!
ICYMI Switch News!!
In case you missed it... we finally got to announce our Switch release in Spring 2024! I don't like keeping secrets, so I'm quite glad to not have to sit on this one any longer. Spring might seem really far away (we have to do Winter first!) but I guarantee it'll come up in no time at all. And then we'll all be playing Moonstone Island in bed, as intended.
We have a page on the Nintendo website, and Nintendo tweeted about us, and and and... I don't know! I've always been a Nintendo kid! So it feels really weird! And cool! And exciting!!!! I wonder if Miyamoto has ever had to say the words "Moonstone Island". Probably not, right? He's probably busy. But still. IT'S REALLY NEAT.
We're still improving the game with patches on the regular! This week's patch notes includes some rather exciting new changes, including:
- Cut down wilted crops with BOOMERANG
- Rotateable GATES
- The Loom now has a COPY-PASTE feature
- You can buy and sell in BULK
- More room in town to build a HOUSE
- An all-new FISHING DIFFICULTY setting
From Crowcawcaw on Discord, a representation of how we all feel in those clutch moments:
And from Solarolai on Twitter, this adorably peaceful Fall scene. Look at sleepy Beardini!! And is anyone gonna tell them about the Moonstone right at their feet...?
A message from Mr. Morris, Studio Supersoft CEO Mr Morris has something important for you today: Meow meow meoooowww. Meow. Mr Morris, no! That's a secret. Meowww? You signed an embargo, Mr Morris! This is against the law!!! Meow!!! Ah, I could never stay mad at you, buddy.
That's all for today, Moonstoners. As always, we've got more exciting stuff coming up, so we'll see you soon for more announcements and patch notes! Love & Kisses, Kate, Community Manager and Biggest Moonstoner of All
You know what time it is! It's time for PATCH! NOTES! STEAM POST!!!! (audience cheers, whistles, yells WOO) I'm your host, Kate the Community Manager! Let's take a look at our lovely contestants! (please imagine the following patch notes in the voice of someone reading out prizes on The Price is Right, thank you)
- Upgrade your gardening today with Boomerang! You can now use the boomerang to cut down wilted crops WAY faster than before!
- The Decoration Station now has TABS for better organisation! (audience cheers and hollers)
- You all asked for it, now you're getting it: Gates can be rotated!
- Finding fishing too hard? Change the difficulty in our brand-new Fishing Difficulty option! (audience goes "oooooh")
- No more tears while making wallpaper and tiling you can now copy and paste patterns!
- The New and Improved Time Dilation PotionTM now works in both the Spirit Barn and the Greenhouse!
- You'll no longer have to button-mash through buying 999 seeds, because you can now buy and sell items at shops in bulk!
- It's a Blacksmith Blessing: Ferra now sells Copper and Iron in both ore and ingot form, as long as you've completed both her quests!
- You could go home with a brand-new fireplace that actually outputs light, because we fixed them!
- You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here! Ossono's Tavern has announced that every customer is now subject to a daily limit of 5 coffee, 5 wine, 5 beer, and 3 dish of the day, because let's be real: That's plenty! (audience laughs)
- You could win your very own TOWNHOME... because we took away some trees and grass in town to make room for a home! Home not included.
- BUG FIX: Exiting from the final battle through the menu will no longer soft-lock the game by using up one of the rift seals
- BUG FIX: If you've unlocked the Bracelet recipes and then used a Skill Potion, you can now find the recipes in chests or purchase them from Paolo
- BUG FIX: Certain ground tiles that were untillable are now tillable
- BUG FIX: Fixed (definitely this time!) the bug with Wildwood not registering as banished in Spirit Research
- LIGHTING FIX: Reduced the size of light spots on Jack and Jill Lanterns
- LIGHTING FIX: Moved the light spot over the entrance in the fully upgraded greenhouse
- CHEAT FIX: Fixed a grass exploit that would spawn multiple items
- GENERAL THING WE DID: Locked the Halloween item recipes by default (for new games)
IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING YOU GUYYYYYYYSSSSS We're coming to Switch in addition to PC Steam! And we were on the Nintendo Indie World showcase to announce it!!!! So cool. We're best friends with Nintendo now. Maybe they will let us wear a Mario hat? We'll let you know more when we have more details, but for now, rejoice! We finally have a release window: SPRING 2024!!! [previewyoutube=AWGAUEy-ZKE;full][/previewyoutube] Thank you all for being patient. Even those of you who were not patient. We still appreciate you :D ~ Studio Supersoft
Yarrr, it be a patch notes. Why am I speakin' like a pirate? Because it be our eighth patch notes. Like pieces of eight. Patch notes of eight. Yarr, I don't need to explain myself.
- We made EVEN MORE tweaks to the volume to fix that loud title screen your volume is now saved globally, which means whatever you set it to in-game will also change the title screen volume
- The "Tame a Spirit higher than Level 50" achievement was counting Spirits at Level 50... which is incorrect. It now only triggers if you catch Spirits of Level 51 and up. We're still figuring out numbers, apparently.
- We're also constantly trying to keep up with all the creative ways people are breaking the game. The latest is being able to run along dungeon walls when there's no floor. You're not supposed to be able to do that, obviously, so we patched it out
- Fixed the fertilizer so it doesn't stay on a patch of soil if you use the Alchemist's Wand to grow a plant, then harvest it (yes yes I know that's how fertilizer works in the real world, but this is a video game. Take it up with whoever invented computers)
- Our glorious Final Boss was too easy to beat, so we nerfed Calm and Tangle a little bit Final Boss is now immune to these conditions. Nyahahahaaaa
- There was a Spring Temple bug that crashed the game to a black screen after defeating the boss. We fixed it
- All new mines now correctly appear on the map
- The Ando Tree animation now displays correctly
- Rocks now drop the correct ores, which is, y'know, oresome
- Oh, worm: Womr's Lawn Mowr icon now works!
Here are our Haikuween winners! You all get a copy of the Halloween DLC! Twitter: @8leggedbunny @Addie_Baddi @hypotherm1a @gray_leak Discord: #goodcub #dollychrist #marissasa #honeybee Steam: Aya Breha Congrats to all our winners! We'll be DMing you VERY SOOOOOON
Happy November, everyone! As I write this, it's snowing hard outside. I live in Canada so everyone expects a lot of snow, but winter doesn't normally start until late December here, so this is unusual! It's very soft and quiet, though, so I'm not complaining. Also, I am sitting next to a fireplace so I'm quite cosy. Tell us your favorite season in the comments!
Before we get to the comments, though, let's dive back into what we've been up to.
DLC/ EVENT RETROSPECTIVE
This week we had TWO events: Holoween and Haikuween!
Holoween gave everyone who played the game between 30th October and 1st November three Holo-Hunter Potions, which increased the Holo Spirit encounter chances from 0.2% to 10%.
Haikuween asked people on our Discord, Twitter, and in these Steam posts to submit a spooky haiku or short poem to be in with a chance of winning a code for our Halloween DLC!
Both events are over now, but they were both a lot of fun. If you participated in either, thank you! We hope you now have many Holo Spirits and/or an appreciation for the art of haiku. We'll be announcing the winners on our Twitter, so keep an eye out!
Just before Halloween, we released our biggest-ever update, which included a ton of new content, new Spirits, and a lot of bug fixes and much-requested updates to the game itself.
The full patch notes are loooooooooooong, so here are the highlights:
- You can buy more rocks, grass, and trees to replace all the ones you destroyed
- NPCs will now accept gifts on their birthday even if you've given them two gifts that week
- Zed's Spirit Taming quest is easier to complete
- Boss Chests will keep their appearance after you steal them
- You can close mines, at last
- An even bigger greenhouse
- New furniture in Paolo's shop
- One-click stack transfer in the inventory
- Adjustable day length
- A potion to reset your skills
- Plus: Various accessibility changes, card tweaks, and bug fixes
- Three new Spirits: Bonfire (Fire), Catsket (Dark), and Womr (Earth)
- A new Haunted House exterior
- Iron Bat Archway
- Gravestone
- Two skeletons
- Tiny skull
- Tongue rug
- Carved Pumpkin House exterior
- Cobwebs
- Jack-O'-Lanterns
- Candles
- Eyeball rug
This week's community creations have a bit of a spooky Halloween vibe! Check out this Fishbrew fanart by @MessyZandrewbert <3
...............meow. Translation: When you stare into the Voidno for too long, the Voidno stares back. Thank you all again for your continued love and support, and your suggestions for making the game better, which mean that we can do updates like this one. We hope you had a great Halloween, and don't forget to tell us about your favourite season/holiday in the comments! Mine's Autumn. I like hot chocolate and fires. ~ Studio Supersoft

You can grab your potions from October 30 at 9:00 AM PST/12:00 PM EST/17:00 CET - Nov 1 at 9:00 AM PST/12:00 PM EST/17:00 CET. Happy Holo-ween Hunting, Moonstoners!
~ Studio Supersoft
Welcome, Alchemists! The Eerie Items DLC is out today! That means that you can now buy some extra Halloweeny items, including a new pumpkin house, candle decor, and a big gross tongue-shaped rug, PLUS everyone will also discover a few new (FREE) spooky decor items added to their game, but guess what? THAT'S NOT EVEN EVERYTHING WE'VE ADDED TO THE GAME. You love patch notes, right? Get ready for the best patch notes yet...
- We solved deforestation, you guys. Ofelia and Gaiana will now sell replantable trees
- We solved... de...rock...estation? Yeah, they also sell rocks
- Also grass. You can buy grass. No, not that kind of grass, you miscreants, the normal kind
- Decorative trees will now have a planter at their base so you don't get em mixed up with real trees
- You can now give an NPC a gift on their birthday, even if you've given them two gifts that week, because everyone likes birthday presents. Relatedly, it's my birthday tomorrow
- No such thing as a free... hand? Not any more. Spectral Hand+ now costs 0 to play
- Zed is sorry that his Spirit Taming quest was too hard. You can now tame a Spirit of any level to complete this quest, instead of level 5 or higher
- If you're the kind of person who steals all the chests from dungeons, good news: Boss chests now stay looking fancy
- Stone walls will no longer interfere with your garden! You should now be able to dig and plant next to them, no problems
- Accessibility win: there's a "reduce flicker" setting which will turn off flashing objects such as being struck by lightning and resources being hit by tools!
- (One) Peace of mind: Treasure maps now clear properly, and are marked as complete properly too
- Rowan no longer wants the impossible gift of "Balloon". You can't have that, Rowan! You don't have the permits and you would almost definitely die
- Oh, you thought the greenhouse was already big enough? TOUGH LUCK, IT'S GONNA GET EVEN BIGGER. Gaiana and Ofelia will now let you buy an inadvisably large greenhouse for all your plant-growing desires
- Also, Paolo apparently wasn't selling, like, most of the furniture we made. Rude. We had a word, and now Paolo will sell LOADS of new furniture in their shop
- Don't worry, we'll all scroll on alright: The scrollbar now works properly!
- If your achievements weren't working, that should be fixed now too!
- We learned to count (it took a while) so now Lightning+ says that it hits 3 times instead of 4 times
- Spirits that were previously only found in mines will now hatch from eggs. I guess that means they're now yours. Instead of mines. Ha ha ha ha ha
- Tired of having a gigantic, unsafe, unsightly pit in front of your house? GUESS WHAT!!!! You can now close mines!!!!! Say goodbye to that OSHA violation forever!!!!!!!
- Actually let's not alert OSHA just yet, because we made the Furnace easier to start on controllers. Just press the Start button to begin the smelting process! Safety is less important than efficiency, duh
- Say a thank you prayer to the god of inventory management, because stacks can now be transferred in one click
- Time, mystical time: You can now adjust the day length in the gameplay settings. All those memes about "having the same number of hours as Beyonce" can finally be true
- Once you've unlocked a Spirit and let it go, it will start appearing in the wild. This means that egg-only Spirits can be released into the world to repopulate and spread and... is this a bad idea? Are we disrupting the ecosystem? Hmm. Don't worry about it
- Earth, Water, and Poison islands can now be found on the outermost ring of islands, which means BEEFY BOIS can be found that aren't just Dark and Fire type
- Did you make a bad choice? It's okay, we've all been there. You can't change mistakes in real life, but you can change them in Moonstone Island with our new handy-dandy Skill Reset Potion! (disclaimer: do not try Skill Reset Potion in real life)
I'm going to keep their names secret for now, so you can enjoy the surprise when you find them in game, but I love them. I love them all so much. This is our biggest patch yet maybe not in terms of the number of changes, but definitely in terms of quality-of-life additions. We really, really hope it makes the game even better for you, and that you love all the new Spirits as much as we do. Thank you again, and always, for your support, and HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEEN! ~ Kate, Community Manager, and by the way it's my birthday this weekend
