Story:

A series of train robberies leads to evidence of a government conspiracy. A mysterious deck of cards gives a young girl a vision of another world. A fleet of deadly airships burns a path across the Imperial frontier. The world’s unlikeliest hero manifests tremendous magical power. These stories intertwine in the world of Quartet. Before it is all over, the eight heroes will uncover how a secret, centuries-old conflict literally reshaped the world. Then they will have their own decision to make about the destiny of magic.

Combat:

Eight characters fight against enemies in turn-based combat. The player can deploy four characters at a time, with the ability to swap in any of the four reserve characters. Swapped characters are able to immediately take a turn. While characters are in the reserve, they continue to regenerate their AP, allowing tactically savvy players to hit the enemy with a never-ending stream of their best attacks.

Sheep Stacking

In Chapter 11, visit the swamp east of Akos to initiate this minigame for Ben. There are 8 levels of increasing difficulty, each with their own unique rewards.

After completing Agatas side quest, you can access this optional dungeon, west of Merdoyo. Complete the dungeon in the time limit, but be on the look out for rare loot along the way! Battle Cursor Memory

Enabling this new setting causes the battle cursor to automatically select the last action and spell/item used per-character.

Battle Party Memory

Enabling this new setting allows the players party formation to be restored to its initial state after each battle.

Auto Save

An auto save feature has been added. The game will automatically save when using a heal point or when going to most new maps

  • Arcana Master - There is an additional reward when completing all card games. Revisit the Arcana Master to claim the additional reward.

Quartet 1.1: Hard Mode (and more) Join the Party

While we\'ve been hard at work over the past week, pushing fixes for bugs, crashes and softlocks, we\'ve also been cooking up these new features:

Hard Mode

For players who enjoy the challenge, all enemies hit harder and faster; many enemies have enhanced movesets and more aggressive attack patterns. Don\'t die!

    We've pushed a new build with lots of bugfixes thanks to everyone playing the demo and providing feedback during Next Fest. Improvements include:

    In this demo, play through the character chapter of Nikolai Proch. The son of a baker from a small village, Nikolai joined the Auslen Army to see more of the world. After serving as a firefighter and rising to the rank of sergeant, he was surprised by being selected to lead a squad tracking rogue mages on the frontier. His superiors give him a strange new device made for the task, and send him deep into the woods searching for the base of the raider Apingorix.

    Quartet August Update Jamboree

    Hi all,

    Just wanted to send all of you a quick update. We have no specific topic we wanted to talk about, or area I'd like to show, so we think it'd be a good opportunity to do a bit of grab bag of screenshots. (The new stuff we are working on is heavy spoiler-filled and we want to save that for you when you play the game!) Speaking of which, we have just started work on Chapter 10 of 11. That means after this chapter is completed all we have left is the final dungeon and all the side and backer content. We are getting very, very close to releasing the game!

    So without further ado, let's look at a collection of shots ranging from the very beginning of the game up through and including Chapter 9. I'll present them without any commentary, so you can let your imagination fill in the blanks!

    Kickstarter Alpha Demo Now Available!

    You may have noticed that we missed our monthly update in October. We were hoping to have our next update be a big one, and unfortunately we were not ready to announce. But we've made it in just the nick of time. So here goes: The first four chapters of Quartet are now available in an alpha build. If you are a backer, you can play them right now!

    Each chapter is an introduction to two characters. In Cordelias chapter, she is wrongfully implicated by a political scandal, and loses her position in the government. She decides to go out westwell, technically eastand lay down the law. Taking the mantle of sheriff, she tries to make a name for herself so that she can return to the capital in undeniable triumph. She happens upon Jerome, and then things take a very unexpected turn for the worse.

    In Bens chapter, he suddenly acquires magical powers, relatively late in life. Cool, right? Well, not if you accidentally blow up the restaurant you work at. Then youre gonna be hard to employ, and rent is still due on the first of the month. A few people are willing to pay for his magical services. One of them is Agata, a Phylaka, whose job it is to monitor mages in Bens hometown. Slowly, we learn more about Agata and Ben, and what his powers might mean for his future.

    In Nikolais chapter, he has just been promoted to staff sergeant, and placed in command of a squad of the glorious Seventh Border Guards. After roaming the wilds in pursuit of a barbarian raider, he watches as war breaks out between his country and their powerful neighbor. This shakes up his life, as wars often do. Soon, he and his squad find themselves ordered to perform highly questionable tasks in the subjugated city of Stral.

    In Alexandras chapter, a personal tragedy leaves her family hurtingand her family business hurting even worse. Struggling to pay her bills, she turns to her brother Alvin, a small-time gangster. This decision plunges her into far more trouble than she imagined, when suddenly she is being pursued by other criminals, the police, and even a mysterious ghost. Is she simply destined for sorrow and stress? Or does the mysterious deck of magical cards she found hold the key to her future?

    Classic turn-based indie RPG with tag-team mechanics


    September 1st, 2021: Quartet, the second retro-inspired JRPG from games studio Something Classic, is live on Kickstarter now until September 30th, 2021. A spiritual successor to Something Classics 2017 release, Shadows of Adam, Quartet lets players control eight characters across four stories that gradually merge into one epic quest.
