nullptr is an action puzzle game that requires careful planning and precise execution. Once you're connected to one of the servers ports, you have 30 seconds to hack security systems, reprogram the server, evade sentinel programs and download data. Your goal is to find or create safe routes to download all databases in each server without being traced.
You start each level disconnected from the server and must choose an open port to start your run. Ports are color coded and give you access to different parts of the server and also to different systems. Once connected to the server, you have the option to open more ports by installing backdoors that will give you additional entry points to attack the server.
In order to download the server data, you must build a connection from an entry point to the database. The connection length determines the download time so it is wise to choose short routes. You will also need to evade security systems in your route, like firewalls that will block downloads. The route you take is also important to open gates in some servers. Data nodes included in a route contribute with their color to the connection profile that is used to match and open the gates.
Each server in the game is owned by one of the four megacorporations in the world of nullptr. In order to protect their data, each megacorporation has installed their own sentinel programs whose goal is to trace invaders and eliminate them. Fortunately, you are a hacker and once you understand how each program works, you can manipulate them by choosing specific routes or reprogramming the server using the stack memory.
Hacking servers

You start each level disconnected from the server and must choose an open port to start your run. Ports are color coded and give you access to different parts of the server and also to different systems. Once connected to the server, you have the option to open more ports by installing backdoors that will give you additional entry points to attack the server.
Connection route

In order to download the server data, you must build a connection from an entry point to the database. The connection length determines the download time so it is wise to choose short routes. You will also need to evade security systems in your route, like firewalls that will block downloads. The route you take is also important to open gates in some servers. Data nodes included in a route contribute with their color to the connection profile that is used to match and open the gates.
Sentinel programs

Each server in the game is owned by one of the four megacorporations in the world of nullptr. In order to protect their data, each megacorporation has installed their own sentinel programs whose goal is to trace invaders and eliminate them. Fortunately, you are a hacker and once you understand how each program works, you can manipulate them by choosing specific routes or reprogramming the server using the stack memory.
Patch notes - Minor update v1.1
LEVEL ADJUSTMENTS\n\n
- \n
- #103 - Updated tutorial text for the brazilian portuguese localization\n
- #106 - Tutorial text and level layout changed to better communicate how the two types of sentinels work\n
- #210 - Level tweaked so that crossing the bottom gate requires less speed\n
- #213 - Removed some firewalls that were not meaningful for the solution required for this level\n
- #214 - Increased the area of influence for the leftmost TENGU sentinel. This should give a bit of breathing room to the player without changing the intended solution\n
- #314 - Small tweak to the top area in order to give more time to execute the intended solution\n
- #315 - Shortened some paths while keeping the same puzzle elements and required solution\n
- #316 - Changed level layout while keeping the same puzzle elements and required solution\n
- #317 - Changed firewall color from green to white in order to allow the player to reset tracing while holding green nodes\n
- \n
- FLYTRAP - Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the player to be detected when removing a green node from route while moving into a FLYTRAP. This should be safe to allow the player to backtrack and not be detected by the sentinel\n
- SYMBIOTE - Now the sentinel only resets its position if it were attached to the connection or dead when the player disconnects\n
- \n
- Scanlines should be disabled by default when running the game for the first time\n
