Version 1.08 has just been released and with it we have introduced a new and quick Register/Login system that will save your virus to our servers and allow us to provide XP Progression for later features. Winning games, infecting humans and destroying buildings (in Standard battles) all offer XP and will allow you to progress through levels. New stats for your virus such as Cure Progress and Total Infected will be used by Multiplayer modes and in random events. Players will also be able to help and cripple other viruses. Leader boards and high scores are also in the works. Registering and Logging require no password but you have to be on the same computer for ti to work. The downside of this is that you cannot use an account on multiple computers but we will be introducing an additional password system soon. If you do not have an Internet Connection you can choose to play Offline, however your stats will not save. Virus Customization is still in the works but first we need to make sure that the Login system is working smoothly. Some game play changes include a massive reduction in Hunger loss speed. We have also reintroduced fog elements, added arrow markers for Infected and units now offer XP. Virus Genes are now given by infecting units rather than randomly throughout the game. Next update will bring with it further gameplay polishing, virus customization, leaderboards and multiplayer events and is scheduled for the 26th of July.

At the moment we are hard at work with Virus Customization and we were wondering what you, the community of Infect and Destroy, would like to see as customizable features of your virus. Leave ideas, feedback and suggestions in the comments below and we will do our best to implement as much of those as we can.

Version 1.07 has just been released, bringing with it major gameplay updates and numerous fixes and upgrades. Over the last few updates we have changed gameplay mechanics numerous times, unfortunately not all of those changes have been taken positively by the community. This has been a learning experience for us as well, and we greatly appreciate feedback given by the Infect and Destroy community. To prove this, we have changed mechanics yet again. Infect and Destroy now plays from a top-down perspective, similar to the very first prototype designed over 2 years ago. It has traditional RTS elements with several twists that make the game unique. In addition, we have added numerous smaller changes and fixed several elements which now make the game more fun that it previously was. Here is a changelog of the new implementations:

A new gameplay update has been released which changes several gameplay mechanics in Standard gameplay. Firstly, the time limit on all maps has been removed and has been replaced by a Hunger bar, which slowly decreases with time and can only be replenished by infecting humans. Another important update is the introduction of Infrastructure. Infrastructure is made up of electrical grids, military barracks, power stations, radio stations and more and all affect gameplay in different ways. Infrastructure is destructible and can make infecting a map much harder if not taken care of. Current maps have been updated to include Infrastructure. In addition, next week will be Map Week where we will include a new map for every day from Monday to Friday for a total of 5 new maps.

Version 1.06 has just been released and it has been our most major update since. The new version features a gameplay update, revamped controls and a completely new feel for gameplay. We feel that the new state of the game reflects better on the fun elements and strategies of the game.
In addition, we have adopted new branding and have opted for a final title change. Virus 14 will henceforth be called Infect and Destroy, which we feel is a better and more memorable title. A new trailer and new screenshots have also been introduced to the store page.
Due to the new gameplay introduced in the update, achievements have been postponed to the next update which will be released on June 30th, which will feature achievements and the ability to completely personalize, customize, upgrade and progress your own virus.
