For today, we thought we'd share some information about the world, and one of the major plot points of A College of Thirst & Claws: Several hundred years ago, Earth was in chaos. Vampires turned humans into their vampire-spawn at will. If the turned-vampire was strong, only their sire (the one who turned them), or someone considerably stronger, could control them. Humans, catching wind of this, began hunting vampires. While humans posed no real threat to vampires, it benefitted nobody to kill humans in the masses. The Vampire Council determined that vampires could no longer turn humans without specific approval from the council themselves. Anyone who disobeyed this would be executed, along with the newly turned vampire. So, if a friend of yours is turned without council approval, to what lengths will you go to protect them?

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2944560 Hey everyone! Last week, we said we'd update you on the game's overall development progress. Season 1 will consist of five episodes. We currently plan to release all of these together at launch.

Where are we at?

Firstly, there's still a long way to go until we can release; however, we're progressing steadily.

Still Images

We've posed all of the still images for Season 1. This is currently slightly under 10,000 images. They are still a long way from their final forms, though. We need to enhance some of the environments by improving the textures, and we'll also need to repose some images after testing. Once we've approved all images in their final poses, we'll need to light, render and complete post-work on them. We are still a long way off finalising them, but the fact that we have these images posed is an exciting milestone for us!

Testing

We've started play-testing the game's first episode with our work-in-progress images. This exercise has been helpful so far. We're ensuring that the images match the dialogue, changing character poses where necessary, adjusting dialogue to flow better, and expanding it in some parts. The testing is still in the early stages, but like with the still images, it's exciting to be at this stage.

Animations

We've now animated all "safe-for-work" animations planned for Season 1. During testing, we're mapping out places where we could add more, so we may do so as development continues. There are currently 23 of these animations. They still need additional work, such as texturing, lighting, rendering, post-work, and sounds added. We're also making significant progress with the "not-safe-for-work" animations. Of the 62 planned, we only have nine left to animate. Again, these numbers may change, but this is where we're at in our current plan. Additional work is needed on these until they reach their final form.

User Interface

While we've implemented the first version of the game's interface, we know there is still room for improvement. We've not worked on this recently, but as we approach the launch, we will make some big changes to ensure it works seamlessly.

Overall

We've done a lot of work on this, but there is very little in its final form. Once we begin lighting and rendering the images and animations, we'll have many more graphics to share on these posts. We're excited for that! We're still waiting to commit to a release date, but our internal aim for Season 1's release is Spring 2025. Mermaids

Merpeople live underwater. They typically have large fish-like tails and appear human from the waist up. When on land, they can shift their bottom half and use human legs. They are naturally an emotional species and try to avoid conflict. Their siren songs can enchant less powerful beings, making them very dangerous. Their lifespan is similar to that of a human.

Witches

Witches are an ambitious species. Most reside in Pythonium, but many of their population make their home in other realms. Physically, they look the same as humans. The main difference is their magical abilities. Witches specialise in various fields of magic. They are most well-renowned for their unique understanding of ancient spells and curses. Having always shared a realm with demons who have heavily oppressed them, they have a bitter rivalry with one another. Their lifespan varies drastically. Those with lesser magical talent live around as long as humans do. For powerful witches or those who have used spells to prolong their lives, they can live for thousands of years.

We've already spent a lot of time crafting animations for these lewd scenes. Very few are in their final form, but we'd like to share some early previews with you.

Humans

Humans are the most prominent species. Most are oblivious to the existence of other supernatural species and realms.

Vampires

Vampires are the most ancient species living on Terran. They often look the same as humans, except for their sharp fangs, which they use to drink blood. Weak vampires must feed regularly; however, strong ones can feed infrequently. They've been ruling over the werewolves of Terran for millennia, causing either awe or resentment among them. They are known for their cold and calculated ways of looking at problems and lack of exclusivity in romantic relationships. Vampires can either be Born or Turned. Born vampires are the children of two powerful vampires. Turned vampires are members of other species who have been turned into vampires by another vampire. It is complicated for vampires to conceive children, often taking them hundreds or thousands of years to do so successfully. Vampires are immortal and will not die of old age. There are extremely few ways to kill them. Some vampires decide to die voluntarily by going to slumber.

Werewolves

Werewolves can usually shapeshift at will and have both a wolf and a human form. Even in their human form, they have exceptional physical strength. They are often hot-blooded and will act before thinking things through. Wolves almost always stick together in packs. They have a caste system within their society, where their strength dictates their position within the pack. Alpha's are the pack leaders, and Luna's are their bond/soul mates. Beta's are the second in command. Omega's are the weakest pack members, who complete fewer physical activities, and the stronger pack members protect them. A legend states that the Moon Goddess created them, and many werewolves worship her. They have always been ruled and governed by vampires. Some werewolves have no issue with this, but many resent the vampires and feel they oppress wolves. The average lifespan of a werewolf is around 150 years.

A College of Thirst & Claws takes place in America, in the fictional town of Lanstone. (All environments have been custom built for this game)
The town may seem ordinary, but it harbours a secret. Numerous supernatural species call Lanstone home. (Look! A mermaid trying to swim)
(The animation is a work-in-progress) Lanstone Mountain College operates a program for non-human species to integrate into human life. However, humans remain oblivious to the existence of supernatural beings. After spending your whole life in a secluded werewolf pack, you have recently enrolled in this program.
Alongside humans, your story will connect you with vampires, werewolves, mermaids, and witches.
Thankfully, the head of this program, Ilona, is helping you through the process! (We decided to treat you with this promo image of her)
ACTC is set in the same world as The Seven Realms (TSR), another game we are developing. If you've played or plan to play TSR before jumping into ACTC, you may find a few references and easter eggs sprinkled throughout. However, no prior knowledge is needed before starting ACTC, as while they take place in the same world, the stories are self-contained and follow different groups of characters. Hi everyone! It's been a little while since we posted any updates on the development of ACTC. We've been working hard in the background and have made tremendous progress. Very little is in its "final form" right now, so we've not shared much. However, we're eager to share what we're up to, so we plan to release weekly updates moving forward. These will highlight development progress, character details, lore information, and other news. In this post, we'll share some rough numbers with you to show the scope of this first season and some work-in-progress animations and images. ACTC - Season 1 will consist of five episodes. When we launch Season 1, all five episodes will be present. In terms of numbers, the season will consist of roughly 10,000 still images and 200 animations. We have already posed most of the images and animated numerous animations. However, we still need to light and render the images and animations before finalising them. Most of the images and animations shared in this post are a work in progress and do not represent what will appear in the finished game at launch. We have included a couple of the final images from our store page and one finished animation to show you the quality we aim for with all the work-in-progress pieces.
