As it turns out that adding any kind of external links has been broken since last year and shows no sign of being fixed any time soon, here is a direct link to the websites you can find me on and easiest way to reach me if you have any issues/questions! If you comment in the community tab, please feel free to also message me on the socials provided in this announcement as Steam, in all its infinite wisdom, doesn't give me notifications for it. I will always do my best to reply to any questions in the community tab so that the information is easily accessible and not provided only through DMs. Tumblr (My main social. Hi again! Finally, the Steam version of A Great Hunger is out! I almost thought I wouldn't actually have the chance to upload within the hour as I suddenly became very sick today, but thankfully I felt better enough to do so. If there's any errors or glitches you happen to come across whilst playing (very unlikely, however!), letting me know on Tumblr & Twitter as that's the best way to reach me! And here's your usual reminder that if you like this project, you can find more of my work on my Patreon as well, where I typically schedule posts for every 4-5 days and you can find all kinds of exclusive content on there, such as: illustrations; written fiction; and all kinds of game assets for my various projects. Thanks for reading!
Hi again! I finally have some good news to share: A Great Hunger has been approved for release (with two days to spare, no less)! As mentioned in my previous update, it will be available for purchase on 17th May 12pm (BST) and comes with a fair few changes and new features which I have eluded to prior:
- An album/gallery where you can unlock a total of 6 unique CGs
- Proper ending cards for all 5 endings
- A new sprite for a previously 'text-only' character: The Cook
- 5 achievements for the aforementioned endings
Hi all! Very mini update here but because I misunderstood how the Publishing Date worked, I've accidentally marked the game as being released on 17th May when it has only just entered the review process. Before it's let me edit the date and have it as Coming Soon but this time it just flat out refuses! So I have contacted Steam Support to hopefully fix that whilst my game is checked over. Apologies for the inconvenience! Trying to use Steamworks is like pulling teeth but the very utensils you're using are fighting against you at every opportunity. If my game is approved in time I would like to release it for 17th May (it's the earliest possible date I can release it)! But until I get a thumbs up from the big boss I can't give a definitive answer to when A Great Hunger will be available on Steam. I'm hoping that my build won't have any issues and and this will be the most painless step of this process, however! Thanks for reading and sorry again for the mess up!
Hello all! As you can see, I have decided to upload my visual novel A Great Hunger to Steam! It was originally made for the Spooktober 5th Annual VN Jam in 2023 and is a short Dark Fantasy story set in an already existing universe, but can still be experienced as a standalone story. Despite its length (some people in the jam were able to create projects with 30k+ words oh my word), I still very much love what I was able to make and would like to share it with a wider audience. (Although I personally don't think this takes away from the overall experience of the game, please know that I was a solo dev working on this project.) Like all Steam products, I must wait a minimum of 2 weeks before I can post the game publicly, so I'll be tweaking a few things in preparation for release! You can buy the game for 2.99 USD on my itchio right now if you'd like (also under the name: GoldieClaws), or you can wait until it's on Steam (the price is also fully intended to be the same). Two major features I'd like to implement are a CG gallery and more professional end screens now I have a proper understanding of how to code both! This is mostly thanks to another visual novel project I have been working on, as well as tutorials from Zeil Learnings on Youtube; which I would certainly recommend for any fellow VN devs! And, just for fun, I have also implemented Steam achievements. They're one of the reasons I like to play games on Steam, as silly as that sounds haha. Perhaps that's because I grew up on Playstation. Anyway, that is all! I will do my best to make sure to keep people updated here (and not just on my Tumblr & Twitter) but if you have any issues/questions, please do contact me on those two sites! It is the best way to get a quick response from myself. Finally, I do have a Patreon that I am very active on! I post all of my assets on there for all my projects so if you ever want to have early access to what I'm working on, please consider checking out my page. Thanks for reading!
