Sand in a Box: Jukebox Update!

Introducing... Music!

• 13 new tracks to accompany your adventures.
• Jukebox where you can listen to the entire playlist.
• Enable your favorite tracks and disable the rest if you like.

Add your own music

• Like with many other features, Sand in a Box loads music dynamically.
• You can add your own tracks in OGG format to the Music folder.

Bug Fixes and Improvements:

• Added missing translations from last update.

Update 0.55

Introducing two new elements: Chlorine and Sodium

• More realistic (and more dangerous!) saltwater electrolysis.
• Sodium and water? BOOM! Handle with care.
• Chlorine is toxic keep it away from plants and other living things.

Bug Fixes and Improvements:

• BUG FIX: Selecting elemental set or loading game state now works as intended.
• Minor improvements to physical set.

Save and Load your game with ease

• Save the state of your game at any momentno more worrying about losing progress.
• Load and manage saves directly from a convenient list, complete with previews for quick access.

Various improvements

• Field Resizing: Resizing the field now retains the previous state. If you shrink the field, it will automatically crop to fit.
• Dynamic Aspect Ratio Support: Saves will seamlessly resize to fit different aspect ratios, ensuring compatibility across devices.
• Features like gravity and field-looping are now preserved when changing backgrounds or other settings.

Early Access Reminder

While Sand in a Box is still in Early Access, here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Save file format may evolve to support new features as the game continues to grow.
• Automatic conversions will be provided when needed, but we cannot guarantee perfect compatibility during Early Access.
• Found a bug or lost data? Let us know on the Steam community page, and we'll work with you to resolve it.

Pressure system added to the simulation

• Pressure now affects all particles.
• Large pressure differences can displace objects, even walls.
• This system will be fine-tuned in future updates.

New particles:

• Dynamite - explodes after a short delay.
• Black Powder - explodes when ignited, with a less powerful blast.
• Nitroglycerin - highly unstable unless cooled to a more stable state.
• Tetracene - detonates upon exposure to electricity.
• Black Hole - consumes anything nearby.

Various performance and stability improvements:

• Time rewind is now disabled by default on PCs with 4 GB RAM or less, but can be enabled manually in settings.
• Improved memory management reduces slowdowns on older PCs with time rewind enabled.

This is the first content update for Sand in a Box. We're introducing new ways to control the simulation:

Control the speed of the simulation:

• Pause and draw in a world without the pressure of flowing time.
• Run the simulation at different speeds: normal, 2x, and as fast as your CPU can handle.

Rewind Time:

• Press the rewind button to go back in time!
• Experiment freely, now you can undo everything.

Improvements to the simulation:

• Plutonium can now melt.
• Plutonium can become critical at very high temperatures.
• Fixed bug that did not draw some pixels of Plant (and other particles with 'absorb' property)
