v1.0.5 Update

CHANGES: 1) Battle animations will now always be on during the final battle. BUG FIXES: 1) Completing the bestiary should unlock the "Monster Expert" achievement... for real this time. 2) Selecting an item in-battle and finishing the turn without using the item (such due to a status condition, or by winning the battle) will no longer consume the item. REMINDER: As a reminder, the demo was updated in the previous update, and carrying over demo save files into the full verison of the game is now supported. Demo data from older demo versions (0.7.5 and below) will not carry over to v1.0.4 and above. However, if you follow the procedure below you can continue using older demo version save files in the v1.0.4 demo, but we cannot guarantee full compatibility with the full version of the game if you do this. 1) In file explorer, head to: "C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\pocket_rpg_demo\" 2) Copy the "starlight_legacy_saveX.save" files to: "C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\pocket_rpg\" 3) Rename the save files as "file0.save", "file1.save", etc. However, it is not recommended to do this and we recommend starting a new demo save in v1.0.4 instead to ensure full compatibility with the full version. v1.0.4 Update + Demo Update

CHANGES: 1) The demo version has been updated to include all engine changes made to the full version. In addition to that, demo saves made in this update (v1.0.4) can be carried on over to the full version of the game. 2) Scrollbar menus have had their scroll speed adjusted to be slightly slower. 3) Scrollable menus now have a slightly different cursor to indicate that they can be scrolled through. BUG FIXES: 1) The Sound Test menu can now be scrolled through by holding down one of the directional pad buttons. 2) Eternity Beam and Final Hatred battle animations now take up the whole screen when playing the game in 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio mode. 3) Other minor fixes. WARNINGS: Demo data from older versions will not carry over. However, if you follow the below procedure you can continue using older demo version save files in the v1.0.4 demo, but we cannot guarantee full compatibility with the full version of the game if you do this. 1) In file explorer, head to: "C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\pocket_rpg_demo\" 2) Copy the "starlight_legacy_saveX.save" files to: "C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\pocket_rpg\" 3) Rename the save files as "file0_demo.save", "file1_demo.save", etc. We apologize for the inconvenience.

v1.0.2 Update

CHANGES: 1) Items can be now be sorted by category by pressing the Start button in the inventory menu. 2) Items that cannot be used directly from the inventory screen are now greyed out. 3) Expose magic's battle message now displays for several seconds, regardless of text speed setting. 4) In battle, if a character is Stone or Frozen, they can no longer use Items nor the Throw command. 5) In battle, stat buff icons are now shown on the character portraits. 6) The game will now check for the 'Monster Expert' achievement upon loading a save file. 7) 'Movement' option has been added to the options menu. If set to 'Run', your character will run by default. 8) Menus that have a scrollbar can now be scrolled through by holding down one of the directional pad buttons. 9) Edited the Stardust item's English description for clarity. BUG FIXES: 1) Opening the item menu via the in-battle Throw command will now always show the main Items page (not the Key Items page). 2) Defeating the final boss should now trigger the 'Monster Expert' achievement if it's the last enemy that you've yet to encounter. 3) Fixed an issue with the music not looping while looking through telescopes. 4) The game will no longer crash when using Summons on Steam Deck and/or 16:10 or 21:9 screen modes on PC.

Demo 3 now available! (v0.7.5)

Changes:

  • TGS Demo content is now playable by selecting it from the title screen.
  • Added publisher Eastasiasoft to the splash screen.
  • The opening story sequence now displays a 3D background.
  • Lowered the encounter rate.
  • Telescopes have been added to several maps.

  • Fixed an issue where the skill menu crashes the game.

Update contents (Demo 2.1, v0.5.0)

  • The Skill feature has been added to the game. You can change a character's skill from the Party menu. New skills are learned by level-up. (The 'Spin', 'Throw' and 'Summon' commands that were used by Ignus, Teryl, and Frida, respectively, in the previous demo are now selectable as skills.)
  • Minor graphical updates.
  • Minor difficulty balance changes.

Update contents (Demo 2.0, v0.2.7)

Changes:

  • On the naming screen, pressing the top face button or spacebar will move the cursor to the 'END' position.
  • The protagonists now start at Lv1 instead of Lv2.
  • The protagonists now start with +10 more MP.
  • Characters can now learn any spell and are no longer limited by their element.
  • Characters can now change their element by using one of the new Gem items (Fire Gem, Earth Gem, etc.)
  • The EXP sequence can now be skipped by pressing the confirm button/key (A button or Z key by default).
  • When buying a weapon, the shop menu now shows if a weapon is stronger than the currently equipped weapon.
  • Other improvements.
Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where the game could softlock in certain edge cases after returning from battle.
  • Fullscreen mode should now work properly on multi-monitor setups.

Update for Demo 2.0

v0.2.6 Changes:

  • HP, MP and Status are now healed when leveling up.
  • Increased the protagonist's HP by 20 points. (For existing save files, you will have to level up once in order for these changes to take effect. For new save files, this change will immediately take effect.)
  • Encounter rate has been decreased.
  • Adjusted left & right audio balance levels for all music.
  • Lowered Attack value of some enemies.
  • Increased EXP output of some enemies.
  • Increased the size of the number shown on certain treasure chests.
  • Changed critical hit damage modifier from 1.5 to 2.
Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a bug where HP was not decreasing when walking around while poisoned.
  • Fixed the description for Drink itemsto show the correct healing amount.
  • Fixed an issue where the Defend command did not work properly against offensive magic.
  • After saving to a different save slot than the currently loaded save file, the next time the save menu is opened the default selected slot will now be the last slot that you saved to.

Starlight Legacy is a non-linear RPG inspired by the classics! Set in a post-medieval world in the Evaria Kingdom, explore a vast kingdom created with beautiful 2D pixel art graphics, with a nostalgic turn-based battle system, and a non-linear story where the four provinces of the kingdom can be explored in any order of your choosing after finishing the opening prologue.

In Starlight Legacy, the four provinces of the Evaria Kingdom have lived in peace and prosperity for decades, thanks to the Eternity Tree that enriches and purifies the soil, water, and air of the entire kingdom. For historical reasons the education of magic has been banned in the Sky Province since the end of the previous war. This has caused unrest in the Sky Province, leading to the rise of a separatist movement to liberate the Sky Province from Evaria.

The warriors Ignus and Teryl, hailing from the Forest Province, embark on a quest to deliver a sword requested by the king. Shortly after Ignus and Teryl embark on their journey, a devastating attack by the separatists on the Eternity Tree causes it to whither away, threatening the livelihood of the entire kingdom. King Lennox tasks Ignus and Teryl, joined by another warrior Frida, to find the four Starlight Relics to restore the Eternity Tree in order to bring back peace and prosperity to the kingdom. However, Ignus, Teryl, and Frida soon realize that restoring the Eternity Tree alone won’t end the conflict with the Sky Province, and that the world isn’t as black and white as they once thought…
