Just a quick update here focusing on two things:
- Workaround to attack animation freeze bug , should resolve itself after 2 seconds if it still happens.
- Improved invincibility frames for vacuum charge attack and dash defense.
Hello Ghosties! Here's a QoL update for you all. The Upgrades Menu on the Main Menu can now be sorted either by items that are unlocked OR by the least expensive items. This should make it easier to choose which of the 114 upgrades you'll want to save up for and prioritize purchasing! We've also fixed an audio bug on the Loadout Menu, and found a possible workaround fix to an attack animation freezing bug affecting some players. Do let us know if there are still issues! Happy Gaming and Stay Spooky!
Hello Ghosties! Hope everyone enjoyed their spooky season! Even as we push forward in development of our next game, Mobs 'N Monsters (Wishlist here!), we continue to update Spotless with fixes and QoL improvements. Today we address one of the chief critiques about the randomized loadouts. Previously, players needed to redeem all loadout options in the Upgrades menu to unlock the ability to create custom starting loadouts. We've decided to remedy this and allow this option from the get go! Upon starting a new shift, the loadout will randomize, however, you will be to click on each category and select from any options you have redeemed. You will still of course be able to add additional items to your loadout through Shift Upgrades if you'd like to experiment with different combos and enjoy swapping out attacks on the fly (highly recommended!). We hope this will give players more control over their Spotless experience and allow them to experience more of what the game has to offer. Update 1.0.1.5 includes:
- Custom Loadouts
- Fixed Broomerang Stall Training No Damage Bug
- Stink Visual effects disappear while an enemy is sterilized, for improved clarity
- Fix to Pause Menu bug on Site start
- PreSite Screen Dust Particles Tweak
- Fix to Shift Report Screen Requests/Demands not resetting
- Mop particles removed
- Patched in updated TidyPod and MisterPest descriptions
Hi ghosties! Hope everyone is enjoying their spooky season. Got another small update for Spotless, with highlights such as:
- Windowed Mode! Can choose between normal and borderless windows if Fullscreen isn't your thing.
- Hard Hat reduced to a cost of 1 Silver Sponge instead of 2 on the Shift Upgrade Screen.
- Current cash amount is displayed on the Main Menu, so you have a better idea of when you've saved up enough for shiny new upgrades.
- Amount of cash and silver sponges earned DURING the Shift is shown on Pre-Site Screen
- Shift Upgrade Selections have badges to hint at what category the upgrade falls under (A = Attack, D = Defense, T = Trap, S = Spray, G = General)
- Fixed animation bug with the Piggy Bank
- Fixed bug occurring when Player is hit by an enemy who's defeated simultaneously
- Fixed Immunity Smoothie bug
- Conversations Menu Scroll Bar Updated
Hello ghosties! This update brings some minor bug fixes including:
- Immunity Status bugfix
- Stink visual effects no longer linger over KOed enemy
- Dustiary text wrapping adjusted to fit window on SteamDeck
- Dustiary selection starts at top of list by default
Very excited to introduce in this update the inclusion of a brand new feature for Spotless: The Dustiary! And just in time for Spooky Season! Accessible via the Training section of the Main Menu, the Dustiary is an encyclopedia of every crusty critter in the game. From the common Dustbunny to the vicious Refiltherator, all 61 of the dirty demons are here! Once defeated, players will be able to view each enemie's stats, unique item drops, Gil's notes on them, and most impressive of all, the total amount defeated over the course of the entire playthrough! Whether studying up on spooky creatures, or showing off how many Piggy Banks they've managed to catch, we hope the Dustiary will be an informative and entertaining resource in Spotless! Also, through cleaning up some extraneous resources, we were able to reduce Spotless install file size by about 100MB. Happy Gaming!
Hello ghosties! It's officially autumn and a wonderful time to cozy up and play some spooky games, especially with a SteamDeck! We have some small game updates as well, to make sure your experience is Spotless!
- NEW unique client Request/Demand at Lazy Lanes
- Loadout Screen clearly displays how many of each type of item players have unlocked
- Hint popup on Main Menu about Upgrades/Conversations can be disabled in Options
- HP/SP Shift Upgrades cost more Silver Sponges for slightly more difficulty
- Scroll bars in Upgrades menu modified to better display the large number of upgrades available
Hello ghosties! We're back with another small update comprised mainly of small fixes and QoL features. Some highlights include:
- New Pixel Style Cover Art!
- A visual indicator during the Shift Upgrade Screen of current status effects over Gil's sprite
- Despair now blocks Max HP+ Shift upgrades from healing. They will ONLY raise the max hp while in Despair.
- Deodorant made more common in Shift Upgrades due to proliferation of Stinky enemies early on
- Bug fix for some swimming enemies who are KOed in water who weren't disappearing previously
- A KO of the player now takes precedent over a Time Out or Spotless site.
- Fix for the Go Swimming Request
- Fully Disabling Achievements for Windows. They will still be available on Linux/Steam OS, but the Windows machines were just having too many issues with the system for now. We hope everyone continues to enjoy Spotless and spreads the joy of cleaning in even the spookiest of places!
This is a very exciting update as it marks the first that we've been able to personally play Spotless on Steam Deck! While we've had Linux support since the beginning and have heard from players that Spotless plays great on Deck, now that we have a unit of our own we can continue to optimize this and future games for the handheld. If you have Cloud Saves enabled, Spotless save data is cross-platform compatible so you can go from playing on a Windows PC to continuing your progress on the go with a Steam Deck (or Linux laptop, etc). Super convenient! This update also includes some QoL inclusions such as seeing your current status effects in the Shift Upgrade Menu before the Next Site is selected, and a counter for the amount of enemies defeated in the Shift in the pause menu. In regards to achievements, there are still crashing issues with Windows, so they are turned off in Options (accessible via Main Menu) by default. Linux/Steam OS have no reported crashes so we are leaving them on for now. Happy gaming!
This update includes :
- New Option to Zoom Out Camera for a slightly easier, less claustrophobic gameplay experience
- New Option to Disable Achievements. These have still been problematic for Windows users and cause occasional crashes. If it does affect you, you can now simply disable them in the options menu and should see no more crashes. This should only be a temporary solution.
- Adjustments to text formatting in some upgrade descriptions
- Bug fix for the Jump Shockwave damage being reset to 0 after ending a shift
- Various balancing adjustments to make certain Unlockables/Sites available earlier
- Continue Shift Button only presses once now before dialog begins
- Bug fix for Antidote item to immediately stop poison damage
- Fixed triggers for certain Client Requests/Demands to be marked as complete
- Added notifiers for status effect changes to the Player
- Added notifiers for empty battery using Vacuum and Leaf Blower
- Eliminated known Steam Achievement-related crashes for Windows users (Linux continues to not have any issues with these for some reason)
- Bug fix for swimming enemies not disappearing upon defeat while in water
Still working nonstop on Spotless adding some QoL features (like a visible display of a stolen Client Secret's value in the Client Evaluation Screen) and squashing some BIG bugs. In particular was an issue on Windows machines where the game would crash while storing important information. I seem to have eliminated most of all of these instances but one- about 50% of the time the Main Menu will crash after ~5 seconds. Luckily this can be avoided if players don't linger, but most importantly this particular crash won't cause players to lose game data. Phew! Of course, I will be working to eliminate this crash as soon as possible, but wanted to push out this update first to fix the most pressing issues.
With all the excitement that a new game launch brings, it's important to remember that it's not the end of the hard work- it's just the beginning! That is to say, I've already been busy pushing updates to address issues and feedback from both the Spotless Community and my own continued play-testing. With the latest Version 1.0.0.2, I've implemented the following fixes:
- Sick Status Effect properly Immunizes Player without recovering existing Status Effect
- Added CPDMG to StinkSlug Enemy in addition to Stink Status Effect
- Changed the Default Dialogue Exit Key
- Added a slight delay when a question is presented in-dialogue to prevent mistaken selections
- Added tracker stat for unique Spotless Sites in Statistics in Main Menu.
- Fixed a crash bug for some Windows machines when accessing Steam Achievements
Let's play the Spotless Demo live! Ghostie Games Developer will be answering any questions. Then, please try the demo for yourself and let us know what you think!

I was so wrong.
This ain’t no ordinary gig. The boss lady, Nat, managed to procure contracts for some of the sketchiest places around town. The clients are total psychos, and they leave these sites filthy. Like, dustbunnies-hopping-right-at-your-face, filthy. At this point, I’m happy to make it out of a shift with all of my fingers attached. And then I spend all my time off anxiously preparing for the next shift, hoping to do just a little better. I guess working for Spotless does have some benefits though…
- Clearing out enemies and trash quicker comes with bonuses and more Evaluation Stars from the clients
- Redeeming Evaluation Stars to Nat gets me game-changing upgrades for use on subsequent sites
- Working multiple sites back-to-back gets me a sweet overtime pay multiplier, at the risk of losing cash due to damages on more difficult sites. Sometimes you gotta know when to just play it safe and clock out
- If I do a real thorough job, I can find secrets, that can be sold back to clients or other unsavory buyers. I’m not saying it’s ethical, but it provides a much appreciated bump in pay
- Saving up enough cash allows me to purchase more permanent upgrades to my supplies and personal abilities. Might even be enough to move out of my parents’ house...someday
