Quality of life and bugfixes update

First of all, I want to thank you for your help and support. The release went better than I expected, and I'm very grateful. I'm working on improving the game. Here are some of the changes you can expect in the near future: [olist]

  • Quality of life improvements and bug fixes based on your feedback. This update just went live (more details below)
  • Balance changes, which may take a bit longer to get to Steam (in 1-2 weeks).
  • A small content update, with some new relics (in 1 month). [/olist] Here are the changes: Quality of life:
    • Hovering over a unit now shows its mythology
    • Casual mode difficulty is now unlocked from the start
    • You can now freeze gods with a right click while targeting (helpful with Spirit of Desire)
    • Made the triple effect for gods of all mythologies (including the Unity blessing) more visible
    • Added a light highlight when you find a second copy of a god in the Pantheon
    • Star chart can no longer appear as the first relic option (instantly prompting you to select the mythologies even if you don't want it)
    • Mortal uprising can no longer appear after you pick Divine purge (not that it was a good idea picking it)
    • The mythology substituted by mythology-specific relics is now random
    • Added 1.5x (by popular demand)
    • Added the relic crowns that show which relics have led you to victory to the Pantheon mode
    • Improved the attack animations
    • Removed Earth defender from the pool of cards you can randomly get from Living Whirlwind
    • Casual level is now remembered for each enemy
    Bug fixes:
    • Anu and Tezcatlipoca now work with blessings and relics
    • Fixed a bug that caused Sacrificial Shade to not work sometimes
    • Cthulhu's counter now resets after trigger (also added an animation for the effect)
    • Fixed a bug that made the "Relic master" achievement not unlock. You will have to win a run to unlock it.
    • Fixed the order of attacking with the blessing Primordial echo
    • Twin elevation now triggers for all pairs when you pick it up
    • Fixed a bug that caused the 3rd shield to not show up (if you have Aegis shield and Sacred barrier)
    • Fixed the display of related gods while discovering (for example, Khnum)
    • Fixed a bug that caused Echo elemental to trigger on gods that you'd dismissed
    • Fixed a bug that caused Exalted elevation to remove acquired abilities (like ethereal shield or fury)
    • Fixed a bug that caused enemies to attack between your attacks when you had fury and first strike
    • Fixed the interaction between Celestial chains and Divine alignment
    • Fixed a bug that caused defeats to count as victories for the achievement (this won't take away your crowns)

    Gods vs Horrors Launches May 5th, 2025!

    Hey everyone! I'm excited to announce that Gods vs Horrors will officially release on May 5th, 2025! Thank you so much to everyone who has played the demo, shared feedback, and supported the development over the past months. Your help has been huge in shaping the game into what it is today. Gods vs Horrors is a single-player roguelike card autobattler focused on drafting, scaling, and positioning. Youll recruit powerful Gods from 10 mythologies, create crazy synergies, and build unstoppable teams to take down terrifying cosmic horrors - all through strategic choices, not random luck. Here's a quick reminder of what you can expect:

    • Draft and build your army from 170 Gods, 90 blessings, and 30 relics.
    • Adapt your strategy to enemy compositions and shifting pantheon options.
    • Fight deterministic, easy-to-follow battlesno RNG, no surprisesjust pure skill.
    • Unlock new content as you play, expanding your choices without power creep.
    • Challenge powerful bosses and survive chaotic battlefields in Unknown Calamity mode.
    • Tweak the challenge with difficulty modifiers to really test your builds.

    The demo is being updated for Steam Next Fest and some of the content will be available exclusively during the festival. Heres whats coming:

    • A New Boss: Face Arachnomir (Next Fest Exclusive), an eldritch spider that summons new enemies.
    • A New Unlockable Mythology: Expanding the roster from 5 to 6, offering fresh strategic possibilities and Godly synergies.

    Hi everyone! Were incredibly excited to reveal Gods vs Horrors, a roguelike card auto-battler focusing on synergies, scaling, and positioning. Check out the trailer:

    How is it played?


    Gods vs Horrors captures the pure essence of drafting in card games, focusing on synergies, scaling, and positioning. If you love making decks more than actually playing them, this is your game. The gameplay alternates between drafting and automated combat phases: In the drafting phase, youll recruit and dismiss Gods, level up the pantheon to access stronger Gods, and roll your options. By drafting youll build strong synergies and scaling mechanisms, making your build exponentially more powerful than its individual components. Before combat, youll have the opportunity to position your Gods for optimal damage. Combat is automatic, easy-to-follow, and has no RNG; allowing you to understand what is going on and diagnose why you won or lost the last fight. gameplay gif

    Who is making it?


    Gods vs Horrors is made by Oriol Cosp (developer and game designer) with the support of Isaac Murgadella (Illustrator), and Enric Cosp (Musician). They already released The Ouroboros King in 2023 on Steam with 18k units sold during the first year and 87% of positive reviews.

    Gods vs Horrors is a roguelike card auto-battler focusing on synergies, scaling, and positioning. You'll need to adapt to the choices offered and enemy compositions. Recruit and dismiss Gods, reroll your options, increase your devotion level to get access to more powerful Gods, and fight Cosmic Horrors in automated battles.




    • Take synergies and scaling to another level. Each roll could deliver the final piece for your build or enable a crazy change in your composition.
    • Spend your divine essence to strengthen your army now or use it to increase your devotion level and gain access to more powerful Gods later. Balancing short-term survival with late-game power is key to creating an unstoppable build.
    • Position your Gods to counter the enemy's formation and composition. Combat is automatic, easy to follow, and deterministic (no RNG). It can be sped up or slowed down as desired.




    • Create unique builds with 165 gods from 10 mythologies and 30 different relics. Unlock options through play, increasing the variety of available choices without power creep (horizontal meta-progression).
    • Fight against 5 different bosses, each with their own cast of allies and environmental effects, requiring you to devise specific strategies to beat them.
    • Apply difficulty modifiers to challenge your decision-making.
