Steam Deck Compatibility

Since I started developing Fading Faith, my Steam Deck has been my hearts testing ground. With 260 hours played, its where Ive shaped this dungeon crawler. Its also my benchmark for performanceIve tweaked Fading Faith to hit sometimes near 60 FPS on Steam Deck, After my first beta testing, I hope to validate 100% Steam Deck compatibility and earn that green checkmark on the Store soonthat would be a dream come true. Thanks! The dev.

Introducing Fading Faith

I think its time to share my own game for the first timeFading Faith, a dream project born from my deep love for ancient history and dungeon exploration games. Civilization grabbed me when it launched, and Civ 2 stole my nights with empire-building, rival outsmarting, and Gandhis nuclear surprises. Id dig through encyclopediaspre-Wikipediato hunt down the history it showed me, from rulers to breakthroughs. My dungeon love kicked off with Eye of the Beholder and Waxworks, especially its Egypt level, where historical fiction sank deep into teenage me. And here I am, mixing Civilizations history vibes with a dungeon crawler that even offers Wikipedia integration (Im calling it the "DungeonPedia" for now) to let players expand and immerse into the historical real facts that inspired the game. In those moments of doubt you have while crafting a monumental task like a game, one day I discovered myself while playing on the Steam Deck, devouring facts about my own city (Cartagena, Spain) from where the main character is originally. Not just about Hannibal Barca crossing the Alps with elephants from there, but all the Roman history that happened after that. From that moment, I always thought there would be someone like me willing to play this experience Im trying to do. DungeonPedia became my refuge. Ill admit, I worried it might seem odd, a dungeon crawler with its own "DungeonPedia" that is even showing Wikipedia to expand more about the game discoveries, but for history lovers like me, its pure magic: a mixed media bridge to the past, reviving the old Encartas charm. Love from Athens (Greece), The Dev.
Fun Fact: The game uses the "Baghdad Battery" (year 250 BC) as the item needed to power up certain artifacts (ancient elevators, connect and disconnect traps...) Did you know that The Discovery Channel program MythBusters built replicas of the jars to see if it was possible for them to have been used for electroplating or electrostimulation, producing 4 volts of electricity?

1187 AD, Jerusalem. Saladin's army marches on the holy city. You, a desperate adventurer weighed down by debts in Spain, seek a fortune in the legendary labyrinth beneath Jerusalem. Armed with only your torch and a thirst for survival, you delve into the darkness. Every glint of gold could be your ticket back to Spain, a chance to escape your creditors and buy the equipment needed to survive this unforgiving land. But tread carefully, for countless others have perished in this maze of shadows.

Stories speak of the echoing tolls of unseen bells, a harbinger of ancient Judean demons that rise from the darkness. Your only defense – a flickering torch. Its meager flame might be your only salvation in this tomb-like labyrinth. The problem? Torches, like all supplies, are scarce in Jerusalem. Every descent into the labyrinth demands a careful calculus of risk and reward.

Legends speak of the Auri Mortui, avaricious souls who once pursued riches within these very tunnels. Now, twisted by their insatiable greed and trapped by the Judean demons, they wander the labyrinth forever. Their eyes, once filled with the lust for gold, now burn with a single, unholy desire: to claim any glimmer of wealth they sense on the living.

The once-bustling city throbs with a chaotic energy. Every corner seems to hold a hidden cost. A weathered tavern offers a night's rest for a hefty sum – a luxury you may not be able to afford after splashing out at the overpriced Market. There, dubious merchants hawk overpriced equipment, promising an edge in the labyrinth below, but pushing you closer to financial ruin. Even the weathered trainers demand coin for even the most basic combat instruction.

The irony is suffocating. The very gold you risk your life for in the treacherous depths is swiftly devoured by Jerusalem's merciless economy.

Legends speak of this labyrinth as a repository of forgotten knowledge and untold riches, a lure that has ensnared prominent figures across eras.

From Herodotus, the famed Greek historian (484-425 BC), seeking truths buried beneath the sands of time, to Abu Nasr Muhammad al-Farabi, the revered Arab philosopher (870-950 AD), searching for the wellspring of wisdom – all ventured into this treacherous darkness, never to return.
