Moving the camera should now be more intuitive, try using the mousewheel to see the change! SOUL PARK whould now run just fine on Steam Deck (sorry for everyone who had to wait!) We improved the "limited time" section of the shop

PLAYTEST THE NEW SOUL PARK BETA NOW!

SOUL PARK is getting a BIG update! But we can't risk shipping new content without making sure it is completely playable and bug free first. From now on we will be launching new updates in beta first, and make an official release once we are sure everything is polished and stable. This should also allow players that want new content more regularly to get a hand on WIP features. If you want to test the new 0.29.0 update while it's still in beta, please follow the instructions on this image to enter the beta participation program:
After that, Steam should automatically update your game to match the beta version. If that's not the case and SOUL PARK is still in the same version, you can try forcing it by verifying the integrity of the game files:
If that doesn't work, it probably means your game version is already up to date.

On the new update


The new 0.29.0 update is a pretty big shift from 0.28.4, as it introduces new game mechanics such as a day/night cycle, new currencies, a new minigame, a new important character and a lot of other improvements and balancing changes. We're really happy to finally give you the opportunity to play it and we'd love to have your feedback on it. UPDATE 0.29.0 DAY & NIGHT

Satanas is shaking up the rhythm of the game!


Every 3 minutes, night sets in and gives the player new possibilities: will you try to regain ground from corruption? Or will you go visit CHESTER, the new treasurer of the underworld? For the occasion, the park interface has been refined to better match the atmosphere of the game. There are many other changes, namely: new currencies, new dialogues, new animations, and a major economic rebalancing to boost your purchasing power in the game. The next update will be a bit smaller and should complete what was imagined for this one but could not be implemented yet. Expect a second new character, a thematic reinforcement of the SOUL PARK universe, and a new mechanic to prevent tears of corruption from spawning during the day! I imagined this update with my girlfriend Maryne, which unofficially makes it the first update released as an independent game studio rather than as a solo developer! Thank you to everyone that is a part of our small community, your trust and fervor will pay off!

FULL CHANGELOG


DAY/NIGHT CYCLE


The game now cycles through 3 minutes long days, alternating with night phases that you can end at any time.
  • the sky's colors now shift as the day goes on
    • you can see the progress of the day in the new UI
  • loading a save will now also load how far into the day/night cycle you were when you last saved
  • When night time comes, the new CAGES MINIGAME starts:
    • every customer still in your park heads towards the exit, while you try to sort them by eye color in their corresponding cage.
    • innocent customers' eyes are black, guilty ones can be yellow, blue, red, purple or green
    • you get more or less soul fragments as a reward depending on how well you sorted them.

  • after the minigame, you can perform up to two (2) actions, whether it is attacking corruption, and visiting CHESTER, SOUL PARK's new treasurer
  • you can also check your cages' content at will
  • CHESTER's scene consists of a dialog tree alowing you to bargain souls for COLORED ESSENCES, which are new currencies
    • Chester's lines change depending on how many times you traded with him and whether you show him a full cage or not

  • corruption hunting now takes place at night and has its own UI and layout
    • each tear/guardian of corruption hunted costs one night action

  • camera smoothly transitions between different the states at night
  • changed the date format to a simple day number
  • lighting in the park changes slowly through the day
  • the customers admitted during the corruption minigame now enter the park at the beggining of the next day

NEW CURRENCIES: COLORED ESSENCES


  • they can be acquired from chester in exchange for cages full of souls
  • added an essence price to some rides:
    • Star Flyer: 1 yellow essence
    • Morgluxian Castle: 1 green essence
    • Lavamatic: 1 red essence
    • Speedcap: 1 blue essence
    • Attack of the Kraken: 1 red essence
    • The Mountain Worm: 1 purple essence

COSMETIC IMPROVEMENTS


  • improved lighting and ADDED SHADOWS to the park
  • added essences to the title screen
  • reworked the park's UI
    • added all the essences to the park's UI, the shop's UI, the legacy end score screen, and the skill tree's tooltips
  • added particles for camera detection
  • added a "dirty customers caught" stat for cameras
  • improved detection target's visual
  • added custom balloons for the spooky balloon shop
  • added particles when deleting legacy's progress on the main menu
  • added the night sky to the corruption and the cage minigames
  • tweaked visuals in the dancefloor minigame
  • all ride minigames now have the same format for announcer text
  • improved clarity for rail placing

  • reduced the amount of customers in the choices minigame from 10 to 6
  • tweaked the collector achievement: unlock 20 products in the progress tree

GENERAL GAMEPLAY


  • fast mode is now automatically disabled when editing the park and during cutscenes/tutorials
  • added new lines for satanas informing you he can teach you something new
  • satanas now tells you before coming to the park
  • added a tutorial for the night cycle and the cages minigame
  • you can now click anywhere on the screen to speed up text reveal
  • catching a dirty customer now displays the bounty next to the cursor
  • added a flame counter above the progress tree button in the park's UI
  • the bush and the small tree are now unlocked by default when starting a new game
  • tweaked main tutorial
  • added shadows settings (you'll have to load a save file to apply the changes)
  • added a setting to enable/disable the first person floating effect
  • product entrances and exits cannot be obstructed by other products, waiting lines or rails anymore

0.28.4 QoL Improvements & bugfixes!

A WORD FROM THE DEV


Thank you to everyone who bought SOUL PARK this week! This launching week has been very fulfilling for me as I've been able to hear some feedback from you and as promised on SOUL PARK's instagram page @soul_park_cledu, I'm back with a little update to address some of the issues you guys discovered! Hope you all enjoy building your beautiful parks while I work on a bigger update CLEDU.

QoL IMPROVEMENTS


- added more contrast to the dancefloor minigame for accessibility - you can now use keys to move around the park in bird view - double clicking to load a save now works even when another save is open - a progress bar is now shown for achievements with numerical values - added a button to show/hide rides cycles - added keybinding for tools and the new hide/show cycles button

BALANCE CHANGES


- hype now takes into account what percentage of rides are working // if your park has 0 working rides, no one will enter! - reduced the spawn rate for tears of corruption - lowered the experience given when cleaning a trash pile from 5 to 3 XP - increased security camera view range

BUGFIXES

God is NOT happy with you! He put a curse on you and Satanas and now you're both doomed to rebuild your park over and over again! This is no easy task, as you will have to earn every piece of the new and improved progress tree all by yourself! Will you succeed and thrive nonetheless?

PATCH NOTES


NEW - LEGACY GAME MODE


Legacy is a time limited game mode: you have 13 in-game days (= 13 minutes) to build a park. On the 14th day, the park is destroyed and you have to start over, keeping only your player level, unlocked products, and completed achievements. This is to encourage players to try different approaches and better manage their park. In a future update, additional rewards and statistics will be given at the end of a cycle. - added a button to access legacy from the main menu - made an exclusive introduction for the legacy game mode - made an exclusive screen and exclusive titles for legacy - added a button to delete legacy progress in the main menu (NO GAMEPAD SUPPORT YET) - saving is automatic in legacy. There is no manual save button.

REWORKED - PROGRESS TREE


- now includes themed objects sorted by categories - player needs to reach landmark levels to unlock themes - path tiles are also unlocked when reaching these landmarks - player avatar is used to show progress - optimized performances - made the scene's canvas bigger - added the ability to zoom/unzoom inside the canvas
