Hello everyone! As we announced last week, here is the first big update for Coldridge! With this one we want to open the game to a wider audience by offering diverse gameplay experiences:
- Cozy: Perfect to discover the game or to focus on the ambiance and story.
- Challenging: A more challenging experience where you will need more planning and gambling to keep your head above the water.
- Mercyless: A truly traumatizing experience where you will need to pull every strings to not be crushed by the guild.
Along with this new features, you'll also find the usual batch of new stuff and fixes:
Balancing
- feat: buff gambler capability: from [+25%, +75%] to [+1, +50%] goal increase when gambling. - feat: lower price for 'Familiar Terrain' item: from 150 to 100. - feat: ensure that 'Spawn Portals' ritual does not spawn portals next to each other.
Improvements and fixes
- feat: game recap shinyness improve - feat: remove roaming merchant after buying their item. - feat: display pledge won and highscore per character in progression screen. - feat: unlock cozy narration achievements when challenging one are already unlocked (compatibility for old saves). - fix: don't record 'empty' games in game history. - fix: remove gold rock from gold mine to avoid confusion when a gold resource is still present on the tile. - fix: issue where game recap was not marked with pledge finished when going endless then giving up. - fix: issue where it was possible to pass multiple years when spamming buttons. - fix: issue where save was not loaded correctly when copied from another folder. - fix: issue where it was not possible to read item description in outgame. - fix: typo in french localization

Dear players, We're so happy to see you're all enjoying our game and are overwhelmed to see some of y'all high scores (1.5M is the highest so far). We fixed some of the game's loopholes (hi backpack!), and are now working towards a new update. We heard your complaints about the Gambler being too hard to play, and we realize some players like the challenging aspect of the puzzle while some others feel pressured by it. For that purpose we're happy to announce we'll be introducing a new difficulty system, for each player to choose how they want to enjoy the game. The update should come with some other fixes in a couple of weeks. We'll keep you posted!

The main change of this patch is the rebalancing of the Explorer character. We've tested some balancing over the last month to make it easier to play to smooth the first experience. The consequence is that the first chapter can feel bland compared to the others, we don't want to make the whole game easier since we think the interest in this game come from the difficulty to pass the years. We decided to embrace a bit more the rogue lite vibe of our game and come back to a challenging experience for the Explorer.
Balancing
- feat: nerf Explorer (from 10 to 8 movements, reduce starting gold from 200 to 100).
- feat: ration hideout now works only one time per expedition. It is displayed as empty when already consumed.
- fix: it is now impossible to consume an energy drink if next expedition can't handle the -2 days malus.
Improvements and fixes
- feat: display gamble random range in tooltip.
- fix: issue where Familiar Terrain item was working through portals and illusions.
- fix: issue where it was impossible to buy a free item when having no gold.
- fix: issue where item meta progression was not scrolled correctly when having unlocked more than half of the items.
- fix: wrong text alignement in some dialogs.
- fix: typo in french locale.

In this patch highlight, you will find 2 new music tracks, a lot a fixes and improvements and a bit of balancing. The "Multiple Backpacks" strategy as been nerfed (we wait for you to break the game again with another combo). Thanks for all your feedbacks!
Balancing
- nerf curse eater: 50% chance to gain +1 day when collecting a curse (instead of 100%).
- nerf backpack item: don't allow to use multiple backpacks in the same expedition. Increase price from 40 to 60.
Improvements and fixes
- feat: add 2 new musics in sound track.
- feat: add tooltip to explain why an action is not possible when a button is grayed out.
- feat: add 'C' symbol in curse bar to make the Shaman prices more understandable.
- feat: allow more afflictions and contracts in ui.
- fix: issue where random number generators were not restored correctly after reloading a save resulting in duplicated contracts in guild menu.
- fix: issue where Steam achievement were not updated correctly in some specific cases.
- fix: 'Regenerate World' ritual now works as intented.
- fix: issue where begin year reward items were not rerolls when skipping last reward.
- fix: issue where number of expedition left feedback was not updated correctly when using the Backpack.
- fix: issue where cohesion mission contracts were taken into account by "All eggs in one basket".

This patch is all about localization. We finallized the French localization (that was missing a lot of polish). We also fixed a lot of typos and errors in dialogues and item descriptions.

We continue to get your feedbacks to improve the game as much as possible. For this patch, a first bunch of balancing: Chapter II is a bit easier and Chapter III bit harder and Chapter VI start is a bit less random. Also Steam achievements now works while you play (sorry for that). Don't hesitate to come join the community on our discord for further informations!
Balancing
- buff Gamble ability: Gamble increase goals from a random value between [25%, 75%] (instead of [25%, 100%])
- increase Witch's starting gold from 0 to 30.
- nerf Frenchy permanent item slot count (from 5 to 4).
- lower the amount of resources on Frenchy's start map.
Improvements and fixes
- feat: improve dialogue interface (add back and skip button and instantly skip text animation when clicking on next.)
- fix: issue where steam achievements were not unlocked while the game was playing.
- fix: issue where PlainWorker permanent item was working through portals.
- fix: issue where end game screen buttons were not displayed when closing reward notification too fast.
- fix: issue where guild objective bar was not displayed correctly when skipping.
- fix: issue where item icons where appearing over item reward notifications in end game screen.
- fix: issue where contracts placement was broken after double-clicking on a contract.
- fix: issue with exploration collect feedback that was not displayed correctly.

We improved a lot of things to give you a better taste of the full game. Here is what we changed:
- New items can now be unlocked, like the campfire to take your expedition even further.
- You can now get afflictions by gathering the curse or take it to your advantage by tracking down the shaman to perform rituals to transform the map!
- The demo now end year 3 to allow you to have a longer experience
- 5 new unique soundtracks have been added.
- User interface has been improved. It now supports small and big resolutions and has an adaptive scale option.
- We worked on balancing to have a fairer experience and a better world generator.
- Steamdeck and gamepad support.
- New scenario and dialogues.
- Smoother camera controller and with keyboard control.
