Typo Fixes
GENBA no Kizuna has been out for exactly a month now, so by now, a good number of people have already delved into our Mesozoic murder mystery and solved it. Some of you have even gone a step further and shared your feedback with us or reported the typos you've unfortunately stumbled across.
And today, after having collected a good couple of those, and not having received any further reports in a while, we've decided to eliminate everything that's been encountered thus far through a little patch!
Typos aren't the only thing we're addressing through it, though. It was also brought to our attention that, even though there is a bar in the options menu to adjust the text speed for Auto Mode... there is actually no Auto Mode! Or at least no way to activate it...
Auto Mode
As the name suggests, Auto Mode lets text appear automatically and flips through the textboxes for you, so you can just lean back and read without the constant need to click.
By default, the Ren'Py visual novel engine doesn't have a hotkey for it and so the only way to trigger it is by clicking on "Auto" in its default quick menu... which we had decided to remove for aesthetic reasons, very early on in development. And no one had ever missed it, not even during the whole beta test phase. Which is why we only realized now that we had accidentally removed its only means of activation...
So yeah, we want to deeply apologize to everyone who was confused by the options menu or frustrated by the absence of any way to activate Auto Mode. Now you can, however, as we have added our own hotkey for it: simply press A on your keyboard!
(You'll also notice that we've decided to display all relevant hotkeys at the top of the options screen now.)
Auto Mode Text Speed Adjustment
Please keep the following in mind, however, which could also be confusing to some:
The bar to adjust the speed of Auto Mode works kinda backwards, which is also a weird little Ren'Py quirk. What we mean by that is that, if the bar is full (dragged all the way to the right), the text appears super slow, while it appears real fast if the bar is completely empty (dragged all the way to the left). Intuitively, you might think it's the other way around, so we thought this also needed a bit of clarification.
Thanks
That about sums it up for the patch, but we'd also like to take the opportunity to thank all of you who've decided to give our new project a try and an even bigger thanks to everyone who brought the above mentioned issues to our attention, or who took the extra time out of their day to leave us a little review!
Thanks to you, we've passed the 10 review mark very quickly, which is an enormous step for any tiny indie dev, as it means that our game now not only has a rating displayed, but that its visibility has been slightly boosted across the Steam store, making it more likely for it to be seen by more people!
If you have finished GENBA and not left a review yet, we'd like to ask you to consider maybe doing so, as that's really the best way to further support us. Not to mention, we're also very curious to hear about your experience, what you liked or didn't like, and what kinds of suggestions you have, so that we can further improve this and our future projects!
Please take care and once again: thank you so so so much for your interest in our work and your support!
