First of all: Wow! What a ride this has been. From launching our Steam page last August, to having a gaggle of streamers play the demo, to participating in February's Next Fest.
And now we've hit a major milestone. We're really happy to announce that 20,000 players have added Final Outpost: Definitive Edition to their Steam wishlists. That's double the goal we had in mind when launching the Steam page only 7 months ago.
We've just released a major update to the demo! Experience the new splash screen and animated main menu with an original theme composed by Ben Randall. Ben has composed an OST for Final Outpost: Definitive Edition, including new cutscene music and four ambient tracks that play intermittently in-game, creating a whole new atmosphere for you to experience. Dear players, The demo for Final Outpost: Definitive Edition is out now! This is the first time that a bunch of new features will be playable so we hope you get stuck in and enjoy it. So let's go through what's new.
Today we are excited to introduce in-game leaderboards to Final Outpost: Definitive Edition alongside a new scoring system.
This is a great time to talk about the demo for FO:DE. The demo will include all the improvements we've been working on for the last few months and tease new features like difficulty modes and the all-new trading system. You'll be able to play all the way up to the first Winter, which is over 2 hours of gameplay!
The best part? The demo has a new scoring system that shows how well you performed throughout your game. So the demo will have its own competition to see who is the best Outpost manager in the first 36 days. This competition won't be in the full release so make sure to play the demo on Steam when it releases on 13th December!
The new scores are calculated based on days survived, total population, and deaths. This means the players topping this leaderboard will be those who can grow their population the fastest without having any of their citizens starve.
Normal and Classic modes are available in the demo. In terms of difficulty these two modes are identical, but in Normal mode you can save your progress whenever you like. If your walls are breached you can rewind to a previous night and try a new strategy.
In the full game, you will be able to compete against others for overall score, number of days survived, biggest population reached, and prestige level. We will explain prestiging in a future blog post.

Dear players, Today we are talking about a new building coming to Final Outpost: Definitive Edition.
Dear players,
We have some exciting news on the development of Final Outpost: Definitive Edition.
The first major addition to the game is here. Introducing the Trader!
The Trader will regularly come to your Outpost offering up a variety of trades.
In order to buy resources, you will need to sell something to obtain a new resource: electronic scrap!
With electronic scrap, you can buy and sell everything from wood to machine gun bullets.
Because Traders change the types of trades they offer as you build up your Outpost, you'll need to save up different resources to make sure you always have something to sell.
The trader could save you next time your citizens are starving!
In other news, we have been working on a new checkpoint saving system:
With checkpoints, you will be able to return to any point in the game to try out a new strategy.
And finally, we've implemented a new settings menu with video settings for PC - see the preview below.

Dear players,
That was a... weird? month.
First off, thank you so much for all your support around the launch of Final Outpost: Definitive Edition. In our first month on Steam, nearly 1000 of you added the game to your wishlists! That is an incredible result for our first game on Steam and this makes us even more excited to bring you the full game.
We also released a major UI overhaul as part of the 1.6 update and you all seem to really like the new look. We've had so many messages, comments and discussion on Discord so it really feels like we have a strong foundation on which to build FO:DE.
Work on patches for 1.6, holidays for the devs, and the Steam page launch basically took us to the middle of August, with gamescom fast approaching.
Although we didn't have a booth of our own this year, gamescom was such a great experience. We had the chance to meet some of our favourite developers and gaming journalists and try out upcoming games! We of course made sure to tell as many people as possible about the upcoming release of FO:DE.
All this meant that we didn't have a whole lot of time to work on Definitive Edition features but, fear not, we have been working on something very important to the game's PC playability: controller support!
We are happy to announce that Final Outpost: Definitive Edition will have full controller support. As the game is now fully playable with keyboard and mouse, we decided to start developing a system for players to experience our RTS world from a controller while having full and responsive control of the UI. Here is a sneak-peek:
Building on these foundations, we are planning to have the game verified on Steam Deck.
We have also implemented a range of important PC features, such as Steam achievements, cloud save and, of course, the early stages of resolution settings:
We are working on support for ultra-wide monitors. So far we can confirm the game will run as normal without any stretching on these monitors. However full ultra-wide support, including removal of black bars, is not yet confirmed - full details will be updated in our FAQ.
