Turret Mayhem
Your regions are the beating heart of your economy; defend them against hordes of enemies vying to seize your resources with a variety of turrets. Each turret presents a strategic choice, so mix and match wisely, and sell as needed based on the challenges you'll encounter!
Wave Defence
Protect your HQ at all costs by building turrets and production buildings for heavy defense. While Skirmish mode offers a traditional RTS experience, try your hand at Wave Defence. Here, you'll expand your territory gradually, gather supplies to upgrade regions, and strategically place turrets everywhere to face surprising and unique enemies! You might be visited by a merchant who offers unique tile mods to enhance your buildings!
Commander Fantasy
Take command with broad-stroke or macro orders. Set paths for units or let them autonomously capture crucial points. In D.O.T. Defence, simplicity meets strategy!
Engage in Local Multiplayer Mayhem
Gather friends for intense 1v1, 2v2, or free-for-all battles, where every decision counts. Whether you're a seasoned strategist or new to the genre, D.O.T. Defence offers thrilling gameplay that scales to your skill level. We offer AI to at varying difficulties (and yes one cheats!).

Fixed a bug with XP gain not working, added in a new mission enter transition.
Significant improvements to the performance of DOT have been made.\n\nAlso mechanics have been tuned and improved based on player feedback, and new audio and sprites were added.
- Made toxic gas geysers interactable, made AI able to understand how to use them\n- Minor changes to a few maps to make toxic gas geysers part of territories to lock interaction to the controlling player\n- Improved the toxic gas geyser warning\n- Improved the toxic gas debuff visuals\n- Improved meteor falling visuals\n- Fixed a few bugs\n- Made Claw Machine and other summon mechanics more reliable near unpathable areas\n- Added Shadow Government portrait
- Fixed an issue with tentacles going through teleporters\n- Fixed an issue on Wing Tides when more then one player is on the same team in Skirmish, leading to the second player being unable to place HQ\n- Tuned down Mental Domination a bit more\n- Made it so the AI cannot direct Tripods it doesn\'t own, no more overly helpful AI!\n- Made a few optimizations for larger maps for gun detection and movement physics\n- Added SFX for invader units and structures dying, now they go squish!

New Faction: Invaders
Alien invaders from beyond have shown up on the world of DOT to eat the chroma seeping into the land from the Chroma Wars. \n\nTheir main mechanics are:
Units are hatched from eggs that take up space. These can be warmed to hatch faster by various means (like fertilization from the remains of your enemies)\n
[/*]Tripod structures can be directed to get up and walk to new lands, allowing your structures to spearhead your assault. But this comes at a cost, very few Invader structures have long range!\n
[/*]Theyre here to stay, and terraform the land, spreading alien flora that can hatch into skitterlings.\n
[/*]Make the enemy work for you! Using their trans dimensional powers, many units/structures can convert enemy infantry to your side using mental beams. (Zombies resist these)\n

New Biome: Terraformed
New faction means new biome, with some new mechanics:
Fog Banks block LoS but not movement, and can be raised/lowered.\n
[/*]Teleporters allow units to enter and teleporter to the matching exit, allowing for surprise attacks.\n

New Features
Escalation Game Mode
This is an evolution of the Skirmish mode, where you compete on randomized levels to be the first to accumulate enough points, and between rounds you get to upgrade your towers and add new passives.
Note, to unlock this mode you need to win a single skirmish match!
Resistance/Vulnerability System
Attacks now have damage types, and different units/towers are vulnerable/resistant to these attacks.
Unit Info Screen
There is now a screen that gives the detailed info on units and structures stats, including their new resistances/vulnerabilities. Check it out!
New Missions
The final two missions of the Chromatech campaign have been released, with a level playing with a Wave Attack mode intended for the global domination game mode, and a climatic showdown with the U.C.F..

New Tower Upgrades/Passives
We added a few more upgrades and passives now that Escalation mode is out and you can use them there.
New Map
Bastion: A new dual Wave Defence / Skirmish map designed by a member of the community.

Sniper Tower Rework
The sniper tower wasnt as fun as we wanted, so we redid the way it works, it now fires all the time normally, and if you hover over a target in range and los it will focus it, instead of focusing the players cursor at all times.
Nerfed Field Promotion for being way too OP

New Features
Flying Units and Structures
Both factions have received a new unit, and a structure to produce that unit.
Helicopter: The UCF now have an attack helicopter that can hover over water to capture territories. Produced by the Helipad.
[/*]Zedplin: Chromatech now have a hot air balloon that fires zombies, which excels at hunting down enemy artillery. Produced by the Rigor Riser.\n

This also comes with a new passive available in Wave Defence, Air Commander, that allows you to take to the field to directly control air units!
New Modifier
The Happening modifier has been added to both wave defence and skirmish modes. This modifier allows for various events to occur. Right now just the Blood Moon, raising all corpses as neutral zombies, and Lightning Storm, however more will be added as time goes on.
New Commanders
Each faction got a new Commander, with a new power and one new passive.
Instructor: The UCF got a commander with the Field Promotion power, upgrading all grunts in range to the nearest special tile. Their passive grants bonus stats to elite units.
[/*]Economist: Chromatech got a commander with Zombonomics, a power that converts zombies in the area into bonus stock for the nearby territories.

New Missions
The next two Chromatech missions chronicling Dr. Strangehues quest for revenge have been released, bringing the Chromatech campaign to near the end and featuring the new flying units.
Global High Scores
Campaign and Wave Defence maps now have the option to see the global high scores close to you, so you can compete to be the best in the world!
New Map
Wing Tide: A new dual Wave Defence / Skirmish map focusing on aerial units
Handicap/Bonus System
There is now an option in skirmish games to add a bonus or handicap to human players. This allows for novice players to fight on even footing with more experienced ones.
Wave Defence Economy Revamp
Structures that produced bonus resources were too strong in Endless Mode, so they were reduced by in that mode (single resource structures go down to a 50% chance of getting 1). Also, a new structure, the Bank, has been added as a potential Permastructure in the store in Wave Defence. This gives 2 resources per wave in Wave Defence and 1 in Endless.

Were excited to bring you another update for D.O.T. Defence! Heres whats new and improved:
Localization
Weve added support for new languages:[u]Chinese[/u]
[u]French[/u]

A language selector is now available in the game menu, and if no language is detected, the game will default to the main menu where you can select the appropriate flag!
New Maps
Explore and conquer our two new maps:[u]Hue Silo[/u]

[u]Bridge Maze[/u]

UI and UX Improvements
Weve made key enhancements to improve your experience:-Redesigned the map select screen for a cleaner layout and improved button colors.
-Improved overall feedback across the UI, ensuring better clarity in key interactions.
Gameplay Enhancements
Weve refined gameplay flow to speed up downtime and increase strategic depth:-AI pathfinding now takes distance into account for more tactical movement.
-Trucks now move faster between waves, reducing downtime.
Map Adjustments
Weve made tweaks to the maps for smoother gameplay:-Completed tuning of the Bridge Maze for a more balanced challenge.
-Added line drawing for bridges in Mission 2.
-Final path node now automatically rotates to face the last nodes direction.
Bug Fixes

Weve resolved several bugs to improve overall stability:
-Fixed viewport snap issues for smoother transitions.
-The bridge on Hue Silo is now part of the navigation layer.
-Updated compendium videos and screenshots where needed.
-Fixed "power ready" bark in wave defense.
-Improved mouse UI for player selection.
-Fixed an issue where the player selection slot wasnt displayed.
-Smoothed out long jump stitching in mouse line drawing.
-Dropdown menus now correctly consume back input.

Single Player Missions Added!
The campaign is here! Were introducing the first three single-player missions, each offering unique challenges to test your strategy and sharpen your skills:[u]
Mission 1:
[/u]Ready for action with Paradrops! Your goal: Defend the HQ from relentless assaults.

Mission 2:
[/u] A timed mission with high stakes. Capture the facility before it wipes out your HQ!

Mission 3:
[/u]Command a Super Tank and show those Blues whos in charge!
New Trailer
Our new trailer showcases a lot of the above missions and how you can go about picking and choosing the levels! We're especially happy to implement the previously mentioned Possession mechanic! Check it out!
Turret Buffs
Turrets are now more powerful! Weve increased their Time to Kill (TTK) to make them deadlier, ensuring a more satisfying defense experience.
New Portraits
New character portraits have been added! You can now choose from additional AI and female portraits, offering more personalization options for your commander.
General Animation Updates
Our UI has received a facelift with smoother animations, making it more fluid and responsive. The game feels sharper and more polished than ever before!Quality of Life Enhancements

Additional Tooltips

Were happy to bring you our third exciting update for D.O.T. Defence! Heres whats new:
Dyslexia-Friendly Font:
Weve switched to a new dyslexia-friendly font. Not only does it enhance readability, but weve also come to love the new look. We hope it makes your experience even smoother.
Campaign Missions:
Weve begun work on the games campaign! These missions will guide players through essential skills and strategies, teaching you how to effectively master the game.
Interactive Environment - Bridges:
You can now interact with bridges in the environment! Blow them up to hinder enemy advances or repair them to guide your forces in a more tactical approach. Strategic use of bridges will now become key in your defense.
New Commander Ability - Paradrop:
Paratroopers have arrived! Use the new Paradrop ability to bring reinforcements into battle. Be aware, thoughone recruit is still learning the ropes, so they may jump a little early!
[u]Exciting Features in Testing[/u]
Special Unit Control:
Were currently testing a feature that may allow for direct control of a special unit! Its still in the early stages, so well reveal more in future updates. Stay tuned!
Super Structures:
Were also testing super structures that youll need to capture. These structures will come with special win conditions, adding a fresh layer of strategy to the game. Theyre not available just yet as we need to playtest them further, but theyre on the horizon!
[u]Tileset and Biomes[/u]
Bog Biome:
Were testing a new biomebogs. Units and vehicles will move slower in these swampy areas, adding a new layer of challenge. On the flip side, vehicles will speed up when moving on roads.
[u]Tuning and Balancing[/u]
Weve done significant balancing and tuning for various structures, powers, and units to complement new commander abilities. Expect smoother gameplay and more strategic possibilities.

[u]Taunt System[/u]
New Taunt System:
Taunts are now available in the main menu and on the scoreboard. Were testing out female voice options for these, so be sure to check them out and let us know what you think!

Well continue refining the campaign missions, expand on commander abilities, and work toward introducing these exciting new features. Additionally, were focusing on leaderboards and improving the games accessibility through localization.

Railgun and Sniper Turrets: We've updated the visuals and sound effects for these turrets
Flamethrower Turret: The flamethrower has undergone a redesign to improve its visual appeal and function (burrowing underground)
- Sound Improvements
Numerous sound enhancements have been made to improve overall audio quality and immersion.
- Tileset Updates
We've continued to expand and refine the new tileset, with new roadlines and guard rails!
- New Feature
Superboss Tank: Prepare for a new challenge! A formidable superboss tank may now appear during wave defense.
- New Voices
Zombies: Zombies now have their own voices!

We're excited to share the latest updates for D.O.T. Defence!
:wrench: New Features & Improvements
- Added map preview art: We've added a system to display a simplified preview when you're selecting a map. This will let you better view what to expect when you jump into the game. More maps in general are to come!

-Updated Tileset: We've enhanced the visuals with new isocubes to better convey depth and improve readability. So far this is a first pass at the new system, but it's more modular than ever and will let us decorate the heck out of our current and future maps!

-Wave Defense Leaderboard System: This feature is still being developed, however if you or other friends over steam wish to battle for the highest score in our PvE mode, now you can! At the end of a match, press the Y button to toggle the leaderboard list next to your overall score.

-New Buildings: Introducing a streamlined design for our buildings. The updated assets are more intuitive and easier to understand at a glance.

-Hover Tooltip: Added a hover tooltip feature for bonus tiles. When you hover over a bonus tile for 1 second, a descriptive tooltip will pop up to help you make informed decisions.

-Zoom In System: A new zoom-in feature has been added to the tutorial, making it easier to follow along and understand the gameplay mechanics.

-UI Animation Changes: We've refined UI animations for a smoother, more cohesive experience. Expect more fluid transitions and visual feedback throughout the game.

Were thrilled to announce that weve surpassed 1000 wishlists on Steam! A massive thank you to all who played the demo and supported us. Weve noticed two incredible surges recently from YouTubers and Bilibili who featured us.
Who We Are
Were RattleAxe Games, a passionate team with a background in AAA titles and animation. After experiencing industry shifts, we decided to pursue our own adventure. Our teams roots in RTS development, including work with BBI and Relic, as well as TV Animation, have inspired us to create D.O.T. Defence! A whimsical, casual RTS with quick, engaging gameplay.
