Our Ascent is an incremental roguelite RPG with many layers of metaprogression.

The main gameplay loop is similar to that of a traditional RPG. Level up, upgrade your stats, buy equipment, etc. Where this game differs is through the incremental roguelite mechanics. You can only fight a certain number of enemies before the run ends, and once a run ends your levels and stats get reset. In exchange, you keep your equipment and powerful buffs which let you explore much further than before.

With silly dialogue and nearly guaranteed progress, this is a simple, casual game. But for those who want to reach the limit of what is possible, you are heavily rewarded for min-maxing your stat allocation, pathing to find the optimal routes, and choosing the best equipment for the current situation.

    Oasis Update

    Content:

    • New Zone: Oasis!

    Features:

    Stats Page:

    • Edit your Equipment and Loadouts without having to enter a run.

    Codex:

    • View detailed explanations on how the game calculates various stats.

    UI Redesign:

    • Should be much faster to navigate through.

    Balance Changes:

    • Agility and Luck should be significantly more useful.
    • Damage Dealt: 100% Attack -> 100% Attack + 50% Agility
    • The Gold Multiplier scales much better with Luck.
    • New Luck based Clutch Power mechanic.
    • When a Character is low HP, they have a higher chance of comboing, critting, or dodging. The amount that this chance increases is now based on Luck.
    • Achievements are more difficult, but less SP is required to upgrade Augments.
    • Before, you got more than enough SP without thinking much about it. Now, achievement runs will meaningfully help progression as there isnt enough SP otherwise.
    • Swapping Equipment allows for a small bit of movement if the swapping would instantly start an Encounter.
    • Gives a maximum of 5 Distance.
    • Many various changes to Equipment and Augments to better suit the new stat system.

    Ascended Mode:

    • Extra Stat Points are provided once your Character is above the Storys Max Level.

    Minor Changes:

    • Too many to count. If you find something that used to be better or is now not working let me know.

    • Tapping an Allocation button on the Allocation menu while another finger is touching the screen now decreases the Allocation ratio.
    • Touchscreen devices now have a setting to move with a joystick.
    • There is now a setting to show a linear health bar for the enemies.
    • There is now a hotkey for using your Special Move (Q).
    • You can now prepare your special move to be used instantly in the next Encounter by clicking the Special Move status bar in the top left. The Special Move hotkey also works for this function.

    Balance Changes:
    • Your damage increases multiplicatively instead of additively every turn. If you arent using Stans Devastating Strikes or critting, this does nothing. Otherwise, this lowers your damage before turn 5, is equivalent at turn 5, and increases your damage past turn 5. Same scaling per turn (starts at 0.75x, and increases by 0.05x per turn), but now maxes out at 1.25x. This means past a certain turn count (the exact turn number depends on the strength of your Devastating Strike/crit) this change is a nerf.
    • Lowered Apolonias final level BP cost for Weapon Mastery, Magical Imbuement, and Holy Power by 1.
    • Lowered Apolonias BP costs for Levels 2 - 5 of her Special Move by 1.
    • Lans Special Move duration nerfed at all Levels.
    Minor Changes (Lan):
    • Belts can now be dropped as loot for Lan.
    • Loot no longer drops for Lan unless he has unlocked the Equipment menu by talking to Lyra.
    • Common Barb is now dropped by Crab Emperor.

    • Added the text (can only change if you have not finished a run) to the Hardcore options description.
    • The Bestiary now shows all Areas that have a lower or equal Level to the highest Level Boss that you have defeated.
    • There are now hotkeys for Equipment Loadouts and Allocation Loadouts using the numpad.
    • Saves are now partially backwards compatible. You will still lose data on new content, but your old progress will no longer be deleted. Do not play an old version of the game without backups of your save!
    • Encounter Distance now updates differently when changing Equipment. Can no longer display over 100% Encounter Chance.
    • The victory dialogue animation no longer flashes text that overlaps an obstacle.
    • The Stat Allocation pop up now disappears correctly after resetting a run while it is animating.
    • The dialogue speed setting text now immediately shows the correct speed if changed.
    • Can no longer start an Encounter by using a hotkey or the start Encounter button in the top left when you have less than 1 Encounter Point.
    • Can no longer swap Equipment loadouts to an Equipment loadout with more Encounter Points in the game over screen, reset the game, and continue where you left off.
    • Updated the loadout explanation dialogue to include a description of the Stat Allocation loadouts.
    • The reset run button on the timer now makes a hover/click sound.
