Before anything else here are the latest changes:

1. Repair Sword Quest

If you have Akakiys sword repaired, the Countess will now send you to Dobrinino again.\nA sex scene for male Volk is planned there.

Important: Please download and install the new patch.rpa if you already had the previous one.\nThe old version will not work with this update.

2. Automatic Chinese and Russian Language Detection

The game now checks your Windows language settings and automatically sets Russian or Chinese when applicable.\nSome players reported difficulties switching to Chinese manually, so this feature should help.

3. E Key During Save Naming

Pressing E while typing a save name could occasionally open the delete-save menu.\nThis is now fixed.

4. Achievements Auto-Grant Issue

A few players received several achievements immediately after starting a new game.\nThe issue couldnt be reproduced, but unnecessary persistent files were removed to prevent such cases.

One Month After Release

It has now been about a month since release, and the game has received several updates and fixes.\nMany of the launch issues have been resolved, and the overall stability has significantly improved.\nWell continue polishing the game.

Outcasts 2:\n

We originally planned to begin development of Outcasts 2 immediately after release.\nSome graphics and narrative connections are already prepared such as the Zabava book quest and Dobrinino characters who would play a larger role in the sequel.

Since the UI, battle system, and many assets are already in place, developing the sequel would take significantly less time than creating the first game from scratch.

For now, our priority is to continue supporting Outcasts 1.\nAs a small studio, we have to be careful with long-term commitments, so the decision to fully launch production of Outcasts 2 depends on how strongly the first game is received over time.\nIf the overall reception improves and the audience shows steady interest, well be able to move forward confidently Outcasts 2 remains our main long-term direction.

Other Projects

Alongside our long-term plans for Outcasts 2, we also have two small side initiatives in early planning.\nThese are low-impact projects that do not replace Outcasts 2 and do not affect the eventual development schedule.

1. Unity Project

A small technical experiment Im using to learn Unity.\nIts not story-based, and wont take priority over any main project.

2. New RenPy Visual Novel

A compact standalone VN were preparing in parallel.\nIts a lighter project and wont interfere with the Outcasts series.\nMore details soon.

The game has been updated:

1. Direct scrolls to Ygraans lieutenants

If you dont enjoy searching for them manually, you dont have to anymore.\nOdette will now give you special scrolls that teleport you close to each lieutenants location.

Important:\nMake sure you also have a teleportation scroll to the Village from the Mystic otherwise getting back can be quite painful.

2. Memory Wipe potions

Some players ran into issues with achievements not being granted correctly.\nNow this can be fixed with a Memory Wipe potion, which can be bought from the Mystic.

• Drinking it removes ALL achievements from your profile.

3. Meat selling bug

The issue with meat being teleported from Bhardadi to the Village when selling is now fixed.

4. Bogdan quest journal cleanup

Old evidence entries related to Bogdans quest are now correctly removed from the Journal.

5. Crash on sex choice screen

The crash that happened when trying to save on the sex choice screen has been fixed.\nYou can no longer save there and you dont need to.

6. Hunt with Ekaterina forest marker

The hunt quest with Ekaterina should now properly show a marker in the forest.\nI hope its much clearer where you need to go.

7. Pratima scene after Ape King

The scene involving Pratimas death that triggers after the Ape King quest should now work correctly.

Hello everyone!\n\nFinally, were here with the completed game.

We began The Book of Outcasts four years ago, but the real development started in spring 2024. Its by far the most complex project weve ever made. Combining a visual novel with an RPG dungeon crawler turned out to be a real challenge for our small team.

And because that wasnt complicated enough, we decided to add both playable genders giving you the option to play as either a male or female character.

Later came another big test: when the payment processors issue appeared, we had to reorganize the entire project and remove a lot of content. Graphics, text, animations once you cut so much, the whole system stops working like before. Sometimes we even had to read through 250,000 words line by line just to remove certain triggering terms.

But despite all that, it was fun. I truly enjoyed reading and reworking the story. Sometimes I couldnt wait for the next script from the writer just to find out what happens next.

\nIt was also a great learning experience I even learned 2D animation! When you meet the final boss, youll see what I mean.

It\'s a time to share information with you.\n\nTrying to avoid making this post as a technical report, shortly - we are close to complete this game, to finish development. It\'s still quite something to add in terms of content, but main volume of work is nearly executed.\n\nBut (there is always \"but\") last week I have played it first time, from the beginning to the current end and it took me three days. The game is quite complicated, not like just a simple visual novel, fixing one issue in a middle of the game leads to necessity of starting the new game. Testing will take more time, than we expected.\n\nThe new rules of censorship. Steam implemented the new rule for adult games, based on requirements of payment processors. So, last few weeks we implemented the adaptations in the game\'s script in order to avoid problems. We have to remove some content, big parts actually.\n\nWe look for a solution as we want to deliver all content to you. Obvious step is to foresee an external patch, but decision is not made yet. Anyhow, it\'s a big volume of work - to check 200 000 words + two additional languages to be sure we don\'t brake the rules. Every change in English leads to changes in Russian and Chinses. Our writer has a hard time.

It looks that the game will be ready for release in the end of September. But (again that \'but\") it\'s the Steam Autumn Sale somewhere in those dates. We cannot release while that Sale and right after, so I think realistic date to release on Steam is a middle of October.

\n\nOk, in the end of the post some optimistic stuff:\n\n1.I personally really like the game. I have played it first time and it looks interesting, I enjoyed. I have a feeling that you might enjoy it too and that makes me happy.

\n2.This censorship issue put us in a situation when we have to think how to continue making the games really dark with content we want to deliver and not to brake the rules. And that \"external patch\" issue can be a solution which lets us to foresee everything we want in a future games.\nWe have to check if it\'s according the Steam rules though.

\n3.We started planning The Book of Outcasts 2. Development will take far less time, as we have UI, battle mechanics and some graphic already executed in the first game. \n\nThanks a lot for your patience.

Hello everyone.

We haven't had any news for a long time, I didn't even know where to start. A lot has been done and there's probably no point in describing every little thing, I'll try to give a general picture in the main areas.

1. History.

We have exact figures for the volume, and if I calculate what else is going to be written, I think it will come out to about 200 thousand words. This is more than the Book of Bondmaids with all DLCs.

The game turns out to be quite large, and if we take into account that the game is half an RPG exploration rough estimate for the game time is 6-7 hours. But I think when I read reviews of the game, the numbers will be significantly higher.

The main plot is written and implemented in 90 percent, or maybe a little more. I like the story, I hope you like it too.

As was announced earlier, you can play as a man or a woman. The plot is the same for them, but a number of side quests and some main scenes are presented differently.

2.Graphics.There is already a lot of it. More than we could afford. Where possible, we moved away from static pictures, we animated everything we could get our hands on.There were even thoughts of animating transitions between scenes, but it looks like overkill in reality. Do you think such things fit?

There is still something to draw on the graphics, but I think we have worked out 95 percent.

3.Gameplay.

Quite a difficult thing for us. After developing the standard of novels, programming and calculating monsters, character stats, game items, combat mechanics is not the easiest thing.

At the moment, we have the following things implemented:

- inventory

- location map

- quest log,

- gallery,

- game encyclopedia with character dossiers, item information, world history, etc.

- resource extraction in the village and resource management

- monsters and loot with them.

- game items > 200 pcs. with calculated parameters allocated to classes

- magic - 5 elements, represented by spells of varying strength.

- turn-based system of fear, positive and negative statuses, vulnerabilities to the preservation of elements of magic.

- game locations with points of interest - dungeon, light and dark forest, jungle. There is room for design.

- mini-map for convenience - attack on the village, which will need to be encrypted. Those who played our first game can roughly understand what speech is. This time we tried to implement everything not as creepy as before.

- notifications about received items, received information, quests, relationship support and much more. Notifications will pop up from time to time, helping players navigate the game. We took into account the wishes received for previous games, and tried to play so that it was not difficult, but interesting.

- crafting things

We are still working on these areas. When everything is combined together, it is not easy to balance. Thanks to the feedback of players from Patreon, we fixed quite a few simple bugs, but game balance is not what the game reports if something is wrong.

We will probably take additional time to organize a more complete testing of the combat systems, loot, complex monsters and inclusions.

4.Translation.We will have 3 main languages - English, Russian, Chinese.
English and Russian organizations for the development team.
It's more complicated with Chinese, we've translated 20% and it looks like it could become a problem.

If anyone wants to help us with the translation into Chinese, any help would be useful.

We're also thinking about several other languages optionally - Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, but it will probably be machine translation, we don't have the resources to hire translators, to be honest. Or well cancel it as not to get negative reviews due to poor translation.

5.Music.

We wrote almost all the music, took several tracks from the Book of Slaves, I really like them and I hope to convey nostalgia to players who played previous games. Here, in general, everything is fine.

By the way, would you like to see art with tits or is it better for you to see everything in the game later?

In general, everything is pretty good, except for the Chinese language and the time for testing. I think that in about three weeks we will be able to give more information about development status.

The Book of Outcasts runs directly to it's release state, but it's still a lot of work.

The features we worked on in the last month:

- animated gallery is added
- ape king quest is finished
- sadhika's quest - 50%
- implemented save game points in dungeon
- implemented fountains points for restoration of health and energy in dungeon (rest points)
- provided shortcuts from Dark and Light forests to the Lich areas in dungeon
- implemented hints system to get to know the game's features more easily
- extended quick notifications system. Now you receive notification when you get the new dossier, art in gallery, key item, etc...
- implemented possibility to choose the text's size in Preferences
- adjusted items info for belts (flasks and scrolls)
- added more content in general (art and music)
- implemented "Show on the map" function for the quests. Now you can click it and see where on the map the quest takes place. It's convenient now.
- added more legend icons to the Map
- writing and plot design provided us with several side quests and a good volume of Bhardadi activities (which we haven't implemented yet)
- improved UI. We added the names of location where you saved your game and a lot of other small stuff


Everything is going well.
