ChessRogue is a chess themed roguelike, where you hire a crew of chess pieces to traverse as far as you can, through increasingly difficult randomized passages and enemies in the dungeons of doom! Buy your pieces, choose your mode, set your name, and fight your way to into the online high scores!
ChessRogue will launch with three seperate game modes, those being
ChessRogue mode
Control a King piece and your party and reach level 50 in an increasingly difficult dungeon with chess pieces both familiar and exotic!
Gauntlet
Endurance mode, using only your starting pieces (no king) attempt to get as far into the dungeon as possible!
Eight By Eight
Eight by Eight is ChessRogue mode, but instead of randomized dungeons, they all take place on a classic 8x8 chessboard!

Hello again! A small but consequential update.

[u]PLAY AS WHITE UPDATE[/u]

Since Play as White mode is more difficult, the interlevel piece shop has been reintroduced. Every black piece you capture in Play as White mode has a gold value. Each time you complete a level, you will be given the piece shop, which is controlled via keyboard controls, which can be re-mapped in the \\[ ? ] screen in the bottom left of the main menu.[img src=\"https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/45226576/68483d0fad8b838197ccad0b32cd166ec5d0fe07.png\"][/img]

[u]KEYBOARD CONTROLS[/u]

The game can now be controlled with the keyboard. You can select a tile and choose where to move your piece. This is still early, more controls will be introduced, including gamepad and steamdeck controls in coming soon.
