taps mic Hello? This on? ahem Hello world! My name is Linus, and I'm the developer for You're a dad - a sleep deprived text based adventure about becoming a parent. I'm thrilled that the Steam page is finally published. It's a big moment for me. (Not as big as becoming a parent, but almost.) This is my first game, built so that I could explore new ways to tell stories. So far I'm really enjoying the process, and I hope you will enjoy the final result, too! I'm currently putting the final touches on the demo, and after having it tested by a trusted group of beta testers, you will have access to it here on Steam. If all goes according to plan I want to have the completed game out early next year. That plan might change - I juggle this as a side project and have to prioritize family and work, but so far it's looking doable. Anyway, thrilled to have you here. Please, follow along if you're interested. Like and subscribe... no, wait, that's YouTube. Let's try again. Wishlist the game to get notified about updates. It really helps me out! I've set up a Discord server to share some updates with my family, which you're welcome to join if you want to talk. Excited to share more as I discover it. Have a good one!

You're a dad is a text adventure about becoming a father. Get up, take care of your child, buy groceries, prepare dinner. Do nothing else. Repeat every day, because...
... You're a dad!
This is your child. It is your job to make sure he thrives, or at least makes it through the day. You can go skating, imaginary monster hunting, or just sleep the day away. I mean, the game reacts to your actions, so it really is possible. But should you?
(No, you shouldn't. Make good choices, okay?)
Navigate through all the endings!
Your family is coming for dinner. So not only do you have to be a dad - you also need to make food. You can make food. It's not that hard. Don't get lost in day dreams, going camping or starting a cat café. If your child starts reading philosophy, nip that in the bud before they get a PHD.
(Just be a responsible adult, please?)
Explore a really small world!
You can stay in your apartment. But if you need to make dinner, you might want to go to the store. In fact you should do that, buy groceries and make dinner. Don't get sidetracked. Everything is fine. I trust you.
Key features
A lovely story based on the maker's experience of becoming a dad
A non-linear narrative in a sandbox. You go where you like
Different options based on what you've done in the past
A repeating day where you can collect 15+ endings - each ending you'll discover more about the family
Short play throughs of roughly 3-20 minutes per ending
Buy food, make food
Unravel the family dynamic
Everything is fine, nothing is wrong, there's certainly no monster in the fridge (Wait, what?)
Pet the cat, capture the cat in a ball, fight challengers (No, don't! Just take care of your child!)
