Hero Team is my brand new game that is the spiritual sequel to Stick 'Em Up 2. It's a side scrolling platformer-y shooter again, but now with online multiplayer for the first time, and with plans to be regularly updated with new content. You can play it right now and for the next few days with the demo version that is available as part of the Steam Game Festival. It's an early build so it's doesn't yet have niceties like actual artwork, but you can get a feel for the game and enjoy my "charmingly minimalistic" programmer art. Please go and check out the demo and wishlist the game right now so that you'll be the first to find out when it's released a bit later this year. I can't wait to hear what you think of it.
Play it now

Hello. I've just released another Stick 'Em Up 2 update which adds full native support for Steam Controllers, just in time for their official release date on November 10. The controller configuration profiles that I talked about in the last announcement were using the mouse/keyboard/gamepad emulation mode of the controller, which is alright, but it had a few downsides: The major one was that only one player could control the pointer. With this new update every player using a Steam Controller gets their own pointer, and it's colored to match their body color so that you can easily tell which one belongs to which player. You can even have another player at the same time using the mouse and keyboard and they get their own pointer too. The other big advantage is that native support makes it much nicer to customize the configuration if you want to. In the emulation mode you have to bind the controls to the emulated device, so for example you can make it so that pressing the A button on the controller simulates pressing the E key on the keyboard. In the native mode you can instead bind the A button directly to the 'Enter vehicle' action, which is much simpler, and if you want to you can bind a completely different button to the 'Exit vehicle' action. If you're reading this because you've just got a Steam Controller but you haven't tried Stick 'Em Up 2 yet then I recommend it as a great way of testing out your controller and playing around to see how changing your button configuration works. Being able to aim using the pointer without having to use a mouse is a great example of how the Steam Controller track pads allows for more precise control than a standard gamepad. Steam Controllers are fully compatible with Stick 'Em Up 2 on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and SteamOS. You can even try the free demo if you don't feel like splurging. :)

Hello. I've just set up some official configurations for Steam Controllers. The default one makes the controller work a lot like a traditional controller, but with a couple of added extras like using the rear grip buttons to enter vehicles and change weapons so that you don't have to take your thumb off the aiming pad. One of the great features of the Steam Controller is that the pads are accurate enough that you can use them to control a pointer, and that's what the second 'Mouse Style' configuration option does. It allows for some very precise aiming. It definitely feels different and it might be my new favorite way of playing the game. If you don't have a Steam Controller yet here's a screenshot of the screen where you can change configurations. I'd be very interested to hear what you think when you've given them a go, and if you make a cool configuration yourself then please post it publicly and let me know so I can give it a try! :)

Hello! I've just released an update with the three new levels promised earlier:
- Skyline Redux (enemy helicopters!)
- Headquarters (smashing up office furniture!)
- Corruption 2 (it's DIFFICULT, so take your time) (and the music on this level is my absolute favorite!)
- Fixed multiplayer bug where you couldn't complete a level if any of the players lost all their lives (thank you Tacao2 for reporting that!)
- Fixed moon rover sometimes stopping dead for a moment, particularly after hard landings (thank you Dan for reporting that!) and fixed its wheels sometimes getting stuck underground
- Added missing props (like air conditioners and such) on the rooftops on Skyline
- Mac: Fixed game not responding to mouse clicks when window is dragged to a second screen and then put into fullscreen mode

Hello. I thought I'd give you a quick update about what to expect in the next update. There's going to be three new levels: The first is 'Skyline 2', which is a sequel to the first level of the game. It brings back the very popular helicopter and also introduces enemy helicopters. Next is 'Headquarters' where you're infiltrating an office building, climbing from the ground floor to the top, and smashing up all the destructable office-y stuff along the way. And the final level is called 'Corruption 2', and I'll leave that as a bit of a mystery for now. :) The update will be free, of course. While you're waiting for it, I'd recommend checking out the achievements if you haven't already. 'Pacifist Constitution' is my personal favourite (I only managed to do it myself a few days ago!) Thanks for playing!
